The Sea and Cake are such great summer music.

also, those blogs are all pretty sweet. I've spent like an hour going through them.

Liebensaft 06-12-2009 06:38 PM

Yeah, it's cool that a lot of them have links to other blogs too. I find them looking for stuff that isn't on sordo, then page through and see if it's generally decent and bookmark it. So far, it's been a success.

I didn't listen yet, but I swear I'm going to today. I expect it to be good. I read reviews in a couple different places and they were all positive.

Digging Chad VanGaalen right now. It's good stuff.

Happymeal 06-13-2009 12:30 PM

Yeah, no problem. I finally started paying attention to them on sordo.
the new sonic youth sucks dick.

It's definitely not the same caliber as older stuff, but it's not too disappointing. I'm listening for like the fourth time right now.

The Georges 06-13-2009 06:17 PM

Where to post my music and websites?

Does anyone know where on this site I can promote my music with links, music, etc?

sweboy 06-13-2009 07:01 PM

Well we used to have Audio Arena but that's gone. I guess The Jam Session would be appropriate: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=10

I'm pretty sure Dan Bejar is one of the few consistently great singer/songwriters out there right now (under Destroyer, anyway). Can't wait to see him in October. Also rediscovering Chad V in a big way

Hey man, I'm going to play the Dean and Britta interview I did on my show tonight at 6pm EST. You can listen at http://www.wmucradio.com

Happymeal 06-14-2009 12:21 PM

Sweet. Thanks for the heads up.

Streets Of Rage 1,2 & 3 soundtracks.

Played all 3 on hardest settings with a friend today to see if we could complete all 3 in a day and we did. I had the music stuck in my head so I decided to listen to the soundtracks. So fun.

That was a cool interview. Dean sounds like a professor of mine, and lol @ Britta's take on downloading music.

There are plenty of crappy Aussie bands on Spunk. Middle East are pretty good, but what about the likes of Wagons, Firekites, Holly Throsby, all really boring Australian bands.

Thanks for listening man! I thought the interview went pretty well. Dean came off as kind of smug but Britta was so cool.

bought a few CDs recently, which have been in my car for this 700+ mile tour across VA, rolling from Blacksburg through Charlottesville, Richmond, and Newport News.

Flaming Lips - Hit to Death in the Future Head
KMFDM - Nihil
Sonic Youth - The Eternal
Sodom - Persecution Mania

downloaded this and have been digging as i type:

Asphyx - Last One On Earth
Asphyx should have godfather status right up there with the Florida greats like Death, Morbids and Obitiuary and the Scandanavian greats like Entombed and Dismember. Formed by Martin Van Drunen when he left Pestilence this band is pedigree stock. This is the last one with Van Drunen but the band continued without him after this. This is old school quality sound remeniscent of Obituary style.Sludgey and distorted but very powerful. On the musician scale again very much like Obitiuary or Entombed.Far from tech-metal This is very raw and basic, mostly mid pace tempos. And if your familiar with Van Drunen's demonized throat screams he has never sounded so forceful and scary.I gave only 4 stars instead of 5 just because it does get repetetive with the same brutal attack on every cut. Not much variety but the onslaught is welcomed. If you think you are a death metal specialist and you dont have any Asphyx you better get crackin' and get them all.Essential part of Death Metal history.

new Circulatory System

Liking this A LOT so far. Might be a good time to revisit the E6 catalog.

Liebensaft 06-15-2009 12:28 AM

Haven't listened to that yet, but I plan to. I've heard lots of good things. Is it true that the leaked version isn't the final version? What's it sound like?
