thats true, but now he uses (from what i can see), a natural harmonic and bend on the 3rd fret, it recreates it to an extent. sorry bout the double post.
Ah don't worry about. Just hit the edit button next time.

I love the 90's James Hetfield Voice

BrownSugar 12-07-2005 01:22 AM

Just watched the One video from the Stones concert, yep its fading alright. Understanable though, bet they still put on a sweet show.

I heard on the radio today that they've gone to the studio to record their ninth album on Nov 28th. Lars says that they dont know where they'll be headed or what it will sound like but he is "happy as a kid again" to be making a new album. Supposed to be out sometime next year. Sorry if youve discussed that already.

PepsiMetal 12-07-2005 01:26 AM

Well it's about damn time. I just can't wait anymore. I'm sure whatever they put out will be awesome and better than load/reload, which were also pretty good albums.

Jev 12-07-2005 01:50 AM
I think you all are talking about the MOP solo so correct me if I'm wrong. IN guitar world of this month he said that his hand slipped and fretted the string
on the neck pick up and that's how he got that high pitched sound. and he also
said that he is yet to recreate that perfectly
That whole solo after that slip is one huge mess up yet it's Kirk's best mess up ever.

timmySmi 12-07-2005 06:08 AM
Yea but he doesn't scream

NP: MoP from S&M, the best version of this song PERIOD
I actaully thought Jaymz's best voice period was AAJFA.
So angry and gritty I loved it

I think his best vocal performance (not for metal but just best voice overall) is on the first disc of Garage Inc. Loverman = teh secksi voice.

iluvkirkhammett 12-07-2005 06:16 AM
i thought james' voice was dead flat during One at the stones concert. i read a concert review recently that also sed his voice is fading.
Oh my god! Think of all the irrevesible damage they have done to themselves over the last 20+ years. They drank to excess, took way too many drugs, toured for entire years... of course they're not going to be exactly as they were back in 1983!

Think about it like this... if you took a chair and beat the living crap out of it would you really expect it to be exactly the same as the day you bought it?

JausmetalJ 12-07-2005 08:40 AM

What if its a metal chair, and you beat it with a feather?

AWSOME NEWS about the album, CANNOT wait for it, But must... wait... it out....

Jev 12-07-2005 09:59 AM

They started recording.

PaulR 12-07-2005 10:03 AM

Any links?

Father_Jack 12-07-2005 10:04 AM
They started recording.
Oh nice.

So that means as we saw in Some Kind Of Monster, it's gunna be like over a year or something. I really don't mind too much what it's like if they do something new. Like I don't want another St. Anger even though the album is a good one. Although I wouldn't mind another Ride the Lightning :thumb:

I can't wait a year, I want it this Christmas. And yes, at RTL quality.

Kyle 12-07-2005 10:56 AM

What do you think the chances are of Metallica doing some festivls next year (specifically Reading or Download in England), will it be too soon?

Jev 12-07-2005 10:57 AM

There's a chance of Download '06 but they did play there '03 and '04. Maybe Reading but it's more likely they'll just play normal gigs.

Kyle 12-07-2005 12:21 PM

ah well, I'd love to see them on the Reading Lin-up (it's where I live!). If not I will definately try and get tickets to one of their normal gigs.

I'd like to go reading it's not too far from me.

Kyle 12-07-2005 12:24 PM
I'd like to go reading it's not too far from me.
I went last year and it was amazing. It was probably more fitting for me because I like Alternative quite a bit, seeing the Pixies was a dream of mine. But Iron Maiden, Incubus, Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stoneage, Foo Fighters, Dinosaur Jr were all amazing.

Jev 12-07-2005 12:29 PM

I saw Pixies at V '04. Frank really didn't look like he was enjoying it.

I'd much prefer normal gigs than festivals, firstly I don't have the cash to pay for the whole festival, and they might not get as long stage time as their own gig. Also, you can get closer to the front with a normal gig.

123. I went to see strapping young lad and they only played a few songs before having to clear out for soilwork. I was really disappointed because the were the highlight of that show.

I would've just been better off to see them when they were by themselves, though it sure beats not seeing them at all. Same goes with Metallica.

Kyle 12-07-2005 03:00 PM
they might not get as long stage time as their own gig.
For a headlining band it would be different, they might even play longer than a normal show. I would still prefer a normal gig but seeing as I'm going to Reading Festival whatever happens it would be nice to see them there aswell.
I saw Pixies at V '04. Frank really didn't look like he was enjoying it
He always seems to look really awkward at festivals, probably because it's not specifcally a pixies crowd. It was still pretty euphoric for me though, crowdsurfing during gigantic was magical.

That's good news:thumb: .i would really like a RTL kind of album, the opening would be cool if was a instrumental song, and another fade to black or for whom would be perfect.

I was also kinda dissapointed from the rolling stones gig........

Hey welcome to the forums.

Yeah I would like something that sounds like RTL but I don't want an exact duplicate. I wouldn't mind something modern sounding but it needs to have that same epic vibe.

As much as I'd love that, I doubt it.

It's great they're back in studios. I don't know how long it will take. Last time they went in with nothing, no riffs or lyrics. What do they have now? Still nothing? Or material to work with? Also, there is no rehab I hope this time around. That took 6 mos last time.

And yes, Welcome Chris

Britton 12-08-2005 09:18 PM

I want retro thrash. I don't think that's gonna happen though. I'm gonna have a big Metallica party when the new album comes out. it's gonna be another one of those really long days where we all lock ourselves in my room and headbang all day

I love reading along to the booklet of the cd I just got while I listen to it for the first time.

I think this has been answered many times but , when is it supposed to be released ?

I love doing that too. I'm always so excited about new cd's....they are my life

When ever I get the chance I buy cd's. I find it very hard to walk in a cd store and come out empty handed.

And yes, my cd collection is very " precious" to me.

Britton 12-08-2005 09:33 PM

Oh god mine is so important to me. I copy everything so I have the original
the one on the pc and the copy. I'm pretty sick that way.

I also have a hard time walking out of the store without a new cd...and I'm always wishing it was a Tallica cd
