I'm serious. I'll be the first to admit that Australian's can be very biased when it comes to Australian bands.

Portal are a prime example of this. They were a local band when I used to live and I've never seen a band so unanimously hailed as them. The thing is, half the people wanking all over them never actually listen to music of a similar style, which I find odd. There's even people buying their merch (shirts etc) who freely admit to not liking their music. They just 'respect them'.

My point is that because we're somewhat isolated from the rest of the world in terms of music, bands in Australia have a greater stigma than overseas, most likely because it's generally what we have tour here. This applies to genres other than metal as well.
