I am very bored at work right now, so I thought I'd post in the stronghold. Hello stronghold.

Seafroggys 03-24-2006 12:10 PM

hello

I'm playing at a Battle of the Bands tonight. I don't really care about winning, I just want to play in front of bunches of people (there are bunches of people too).

Our setlist opens and closes with originals, and we're playing Hendrix's Fire in the Middle. And they'll be a live recording, so I'll post audio when i get it.

ludvista29 03-24-2006 12:13 PM
i'm bored at school....again...
It's worse at work. You have to manage to look busy.

DuckinFutch8 03-24-2006 12:16 PM
hey, I just got audacity 'cause I heard it's pretty good for slowing down songs and makeing transcrubing easier. How do you do that? When I slow it down with the "change speed" thing it comes out very unclear. Is that just the recording or what?
...

Bumpy.

Win A Rabbit 03-24-2006 02:34 PM

hey, since i don't use my 13" tom, i'm wondering how easy it would be to transform it into an aux. snare drum. i was thinking about buying a shell from keller and building my own, but i figure if my tom's already drilled, and the edges are done, why not just use that. a few questions:

would the edges be fine as they are?
how would i go about making a snare bed?
would it matter that the shell is drilled due to it's mounting system?

those are the only questions i can think of right now, but i'm guessing there's a bunch more things i'm going to have to do.

thanks in advance, anyone who feels like helping me out.

Undisco Kidd 03-24-2006 02:46 PM

Do you mean to use it as is, or cut it down?

Janeway 03-24-2006 03:07 PM

Frere Jacques, Frere Jacques, dormez vous? Dormez vous?
Sonnez les matines, sonnez les matines, ding dang dong.

Hielten sich für schlaue Leute
Witterten schon fette Beute
Riefen: Krieg und wollten Macht
Mann, wer haette das gedacht
Dass es einmal soweit kommt
Wegen 99 Luftballons

I'd like to say I know German, but I just copied it from a lyric site.

Janeway 03-24-2006 03:39 PM

That song is awful in english.
But her voice is sexy.

Put one up shackle me, not clean logic procreation
I did not invent the wheel I was the crooked spoke adjacent
While the triple sixers lassos keep angels roped in the basement
I walk the block with a halo and a stick poking your patience
Ya'll catch a 30 second flash visual
Dirty cooperative Neptune blue head hurt splits
Ridiculous fathom the splicing of first generation
f**k up or trickle down anti hero smack (Cracking!)
I paste the game to zero all completion green (Splash!)
Took an early retirement pick a dream
American nightmare hogging the screen
I'll hold the door open so you can stumble in
and you would stop following me around the jungle gym
Now it's an honor and I spell it with the 'H' I stole from

Marry crutch stolen wretched refuge refuse my teaming resonance
I promise temperance storm breed with a leaning conscious
In a credence relax responsive with my sports outsource the

And I'm sleeping now (Wow!) And the settlers laugh
You won't be laughing when your covered wagons crash
You won't be laughing when the buses drag your brother's flags
into rags
You won't be laughing when your front lawn is spangled with
epitaphs
You won't be laughing
And I hang my boots to rest when I'm impressed
So I triple knot them then I forgot them
This origami dream is beautiful
but man those wings will never leave the ground
Without a feather and a lottery ticket, now settle down

All I ever wanted was to pick apart the day,
put the pieces back together my way.
All I ever wanted was to pick apart the day,
put the pieces back together my way.
All I ever wanted was to pick apart the day,

All I ever wanted was to pick apart the day,

Ok, lift me to activism chain activate street sweep
Plug in deteriorating zenith pen dragging
I hack swords wars for the morbid spreading of mad men
Now he's got soul
Sitting there licking log cabin in Charlie Chaplin waddle
I could zig zag and zig 'em again for the bad dreams
Sparking my brick wall windows another thicket storm
And if one night in Gotham without the wretched
Houston we have a problem
Dispatch a task of infested patch of city goblins
Who split how many freaks with box cuts of a high road bellow
Heads ripped! Watch red bricks turn yellow
Sort of similar to most backbones at camp Icarus
Raw feelings start congregating at pamper for bickering
Life's not a bitch life is a beautiful woman
Your only call her a bitch because she won't let you get that

Vision and pick apart the pixels
I got a friend of polar nature and it's all peace
When I seek similar stars but can't sit at the same feast

This cat is asking if I've seen his little lost passion
I told him: 'Yeah, but only when I pedaled past him'
FireFox rules!

Anyone see this kid over in the WFD thread desperatly trying to fight for it? He's at just over 10,000 words in 20 posts. That's seriously incredible...
Yeah. Good thing he's got his library buddies and his dad to post for him, otherwise it'd be seriously cutting into his homework time.

Futuro 03-24-2006 04:01 PM

Hey guys I have a dillema :upset: Should I cut a 17 minute song in half? Or leave it whole?

Tyr 03-24-2006 04:05 PM

I like long songs, so leave it whole.

Berk 03-24-2006 04:05 PM

Whole bitch! Seriously I hate when people cut songs down, Alot.

Janeway 03-24-2006 04:06 PM

In half.
Be nice to those with short attention spans.

I love fridays.

Futuro 03-24-2006 04:10 PM
In half.
Be nice to those with short attention spans.
That is what I am thinking. The song has no "structure" (Verse chorus etc.) And people who have heard it said it was kind of alot.
Whole bitch! Seriously I hate when people cut songs down, Alot.
Same here. But im thinking I will get more listens with 2 songs.

Berk 03-24-2006 04:13 PM

You never said 2 songs. Then 2 it is!

ludvista29 03-24-2006 04:14 PM

have the song like how the beatles had side two of abbey road cut the songs into many tracks and put them together

Futuro 03-24-2006 04:18 PM

Well that is what I meant. Im not gonna split it more than once though. I will probably have one that is 11 minutes and one that is 6. (The last six minutes is supposed to be a huge musical orgasm)

Win A Rabbit 03-24-2006 04:31 PM

i'm working on an amazing new song right now. i'll post it up here when i finish it (in a long time  ) very intricate.

fishbulb' 03-24-2006 04:39 PM

to futuro- Split it into two songs? Or is it too closely related to make two songs out of it?

Tyr 03-24-2006 04:51 PM

I still say one, long song. But, that's true, a lot of people isn't used to long songs, so maybe, to get more people to listen, you should split it in two. I don't know...

spirit 03-24-2006 04:53 PM

I <3 the Led Zep DVD. By chance, I happened to flick bad to the DVD screen at the right moment to see Bonzo's foot in action. Not triplets I don't think, but still...

Are you an Opeth fan? I am, they are one of the influences for a few different sections in this song.

Janeway 03-24-2006 04:58 PM

Long songs just get redundant after a while.
Maybe it's just my immaturity shining through. I dunno.
Pretty much the only long song I can stand to listen to all the way through is The End by the Doors....and maybe Sweet Home Alabama.
