hit it |
most skramz is bland
i mean not dissin the genre because it rules but 99% of it could be side projects of a few different bands |
Very profound statement Josh.
That's every genre. |
listening to agalloch, bored
did some writing earlier, cant tell if i like it or not downloading random albums here and there elite BM selection is increasing |
Very profound statement Josh.
That's every genre.
screamo is right behind black metal when it comes to sameyness |
man has a point
|
for real though pretty much every genre is like that
post metal hip hop downtempo post rock screamo black metal anything on the radio technical death metal etc etc etc etc |
POWER METAL
z |
rap and death metal are the most same-y genres in existence
regardless, cease upon the capitol is a very stand out band. |
rap is one of the least
tech death is probably the worst yeah |
its too br00tal
|
rap is one of the least
hard bias is hard also, compare honeywell to raien to in/humanity to single state of man to envy to score one for safety OMG YOUR ARGUMENT IS OWNED in fact people always try to argue that screamo isn't even a genre because there's so many different things going on in it  |
i think rap by its nature tends to avoid the whole "bunch of side projects thing"
|
that was a joke right? |
in fact people always try to argue that screamo isn't even a genre because there's so many different things going on in it
i'd love to hear these people argue about grind then |
well the argument is that all grind sounds like repulsion and stuff like daughters is metalcore, and stuff that's too punky either gets written off as crust or pv
|
oh and i forgot about screamo like the map says we're ****ed
and cold like december one's ultra thrashy, the other's ultra punky |
also, giving mesa verde a second chance, because i can't understand how so many people i agree with actually gave this good reviews
http://yousmelllikepaste.blogspot.com/2010/01/cease-upon-capitol-untitled-lp.html hit it
anyhow |
failing hard
|
triple post to compensate for failing argument
|
One post making fun of grind elitists.
One post in relation to the argument. One post whoring an album/saying I'll give Mesa Verde another shot. What are you talking about exactly? Oh and I can't recall when I've ever seen you post about screamo so IDK how valid your opinion on the subject is.
failing hard
Sorry for backing my opinion, I'll never do that again. I'll just make blanket statements, that's how you become right. |
rap is pretty ****in same-y bros
the argument is moot every single genre is filled with soundalikes even avant garde there isnt one that is more same-y than the others they are all equally derivative but i still like most of them, even the same-y bands in them as long as they are the same as a good band |
Also, saying rap doesn't have ****-tons of side projects is a huge ****ing joke.
Just look at Wu-Tang or Kool Keef. /argument Oh and Mesa Verde's vocals kind of remind me of Modest Mouse (though they rarely ever had screaming, but even the cleans). I like the Orchid-rip off + post rock influence thing they have going on. I guess I just didn't listen intensively enough previously. |

not to mention 9 out of 10 rap songs are featuring another rapper which is about the equivalent of collabos and side projects in other genres
speaking of aiden baker is like the lil wayne of drone/ambient/shoegaze i swear that guy has done a collabo with everyone else in the genre |
Oh and I can't recall when I've ever seen you post about screamo so IDK how valid your opinion on the subject is.
i was jk bro keep that blood pressure low |
Why the hell am I the only person who's "worked up" when they disagree with people?
I'm not the one name-calling people for refuting my baseless argument here.
stop being a total faggot
Learn to back up your opinion. And thanks for telling me I fail hard for disagreeing with you. But seriously, listen to any of those bands I listed, the genre is a lot less same-y than most **** out there. |
Anferny.
yeah thats pretty much what i meant. they have all the bases covered, got the screamo stuff, the "emotional hardcore" ****, and the post rock stuff. the end result is honestly less than the sum of the parts though it really is fairly bland, but alas it has all the bits and pieces i like so its fairly enjoyable listening. |
Yeah, I'm actually really enjoying this right now, but I can't help but think I should probably be listening to Envy or something.
A lot of these riffs are like, "wait, isn't this from an Orchid song?" |
yeah it all feels very (word of the day) same-y. like each of those three bases sounds like it was kinda ripped from a band that specializes in that sound and does it better.
envy is king. their last couple albums have been OMGOMGOMGOMG, well i guess not albums but insomniac doze and abyssal. you probably like their older stuff better though. |
Riff at 2:22 of No More Bad Future = Epilogue Of A Car Crash...
And I've loved every single thing Envy has done, I used to try and pick favorites, but I really can't. Chain Wandering Deeply and A Road Of Winds The Water Builds are definitely my favorite songs by them though. I think Mohinder, Orchid, Anomie, and Envy are the most ripped off bands in the whole genre. |
A lot of these riffs are like, "wait, isn't this from an Orchid song?"
thats pretty unusual |
footprints, sinking story, and eternity are all ace too. now that i think about i probably couldnt pick a favorite either.
|
btw josh, anthropophagus rules
i havent even gotten to the part where the cannibal rips a baby out of the mothers womb yet and id recommend it |
