That sounds like such a great class. Of course most of us here, with a little work could teach one of those classes :)

angusmaster 09-02-2005 09:29 PM

**** , i wish i could've joined earliar , but i didnt know about . Ive got a question , how do you get spaces between your sentences , for example , mister blue sky has that smilie or whatever , then has a space , then has high five , i dont know how you do it . My sentences looked cramed together . Edit : I would love to teach a classic rock class , that would be AWESOME .

For getting a space, you press the "enter" key. And also you don't have to put a space before a period or a comma. No wonder your sentences look like crap.

Pfft, Arena rock fans... am I right, guys?

...wait :(

Ok, guys. Stupid post alert. If you want to get some flaming in because I know you're all flame whores, do it here. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9473034&postcount=18

I use to think that song was too soft for me, but after i got into Clapton, its pretty cool.

robo2448 09-03-2005 10:16 AM

I'm liking this Eric Clapton live bootleg. He sings strong, and his guitar playing is as good as ever. Steve Gadd is on drums and Billy Preston is awesome on organ/ keyboards. It's from 2001, somebody uploaded it a while ago, but I'm listening to all the way through for the first time today.

I was thinking the thread was dead today because everyone was at school, but then I realized it was Saturday like 2 minutes ago. Anyway, I'm off to Sharon, CT for some family thing for the day. Eric Clapton pwns.
That's the overview of the entire class. Yes, it's a college class. We only have 5 tests, and we don't have to write any papers. Today we listened to Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters records, and watched a video about Chuck Berry. This is my favorite class ever :D
I wish my high school had the funding/staff/resources to have more then just a general instrumental music class.

So Willie Nelson has a new album out, called Countryman. Has anyone heard it? In the newspaper it was reviewed and the guy could only say good things about it. He said it's the biggest change in musical direction Nelson has ever taken (which really isn't saying much in the end), apprently it's like reggae style country. It has a big marijuana leaf on the front of the album. I'm gonna buy it.

There was also a review of a newly released Allman Brothers live album, recorded in the mid seventies. He said it's like your typical live Allmans album (so it's probably really good), I don't remember the name of the album.

ATM 09-03-2005 03:16 PM

I heard the new Eric Clapton album isn't very good.

I like the new Rolling Stones single, however.

thickasabrick 09-03-2005 03:35 PM

Man last night there was no weed in the city at all, finally we got a hold of some....it was some of the best weed I've ever seen (top five for sure). The guy we got it from told us he didn't want to sell any because he just had his personals, but he would because were such nice guys. It cost him $220 an ounce, which is more than double what anyone should normally pay. We had forty bucks which would normally get us a quarter ounce, but he only gave us 4 grams because so expensive. Aside from me and my other two friends, we smoked up five other people (all of which are amateurs and don't need a lot to get stoned) and I realized I still have almost two grams left today.

So I'm packing a bowl, listening to CSNY....gonna listen to some Doors, Pink Floyd, and Dylan after. Any other suggestions? If my posts start to get kinda weird...just ignore me.

And I also heard about that new Stones album, I heard it wasn't good...but unless someones actually a Rolling Stones fan, they say anything after Tattoo You isn't good. I beg to differ. I like anything by the Stones. Haha...Stones.

Hey man, that was like almost an hour ago...I've been reading posts for the past half hour trying to figure out what to say in all these threads. It's 4:20 right now so I'm gonna be right back...I'll read up and have something important to say. :thumb:

edit- ps. I'm listening to Dylans Love and Theft album...just to key you in on whats happening here. I also took a shower...it was so crazy, I listened to quite a decent amount of Thick as a Brick while showering. I didn't get to finish it though because my shower ended a little faster and I tried to waste time so I air guitared the bass and flute (it didn't work too good when I tried to do it at the same time though...) to the song Bouree. Great song!

:amaze: What! You've gone too far this time Illmatic, sometimes you disagree and I don't care..everyones got opinions. But that's blasphemy, that's sacreligious. I'm appaled.

This is a killer Dylan album though. I had to sit down because I was dancing around the house. I'm making tea, I hope it's not boiling over....the music's pretty loud.

DirtyQuebec6969 09-03-2005 06:33 PM

Ahhh yes, I too went through my little drug phase too. Classic rock seems to breed an obsession with drugs, as if you are trying to emulate the people you listen to in order to get in touch with some of their "genius".

Well, I have news for you, classic rock is no more worth listening to than me listening to my toilet flushing. The classic rock bunch were a bunch of untrained heathens whose concept of music is nothing more than ripping off a bunch of African peoples' elementary music. And dont call me racist because i am half African-Nepalese so shut it.

If you are so interested in expanding your mind with drugs why dont you try smoking crack, it makes you play faster and heightens your sense of pleasure, which is what every good heathen hedonist is after isn't it?

thickasabrick 09-03-2005 06:41 PM

I'm not gonna smoke crack. I stick to more natural drugs: Marijuana, Mushrooms, Salvia. I'd do cocaine before crack...and acid before coke. I kinda wanna do acid but I'm gonna wait...I'm happy with mushrooms and salvia for tripping out right now.

And about your classic rock opinions, can I listen to some of the music you listen to? So far I've found that musically, Classic Rock is the most adventurous music in terms of how many different genres it can cross, although Classical and Jazz are a little more...you know (forget how to describe it). Classic rock is just plainly my favourite music to listen to. I really like Folk, and Bluegrass....but mainly it's Classic Rock. What do you listen to?

edit- and you can't say Bob Dylan is lower than the sound of a toilet flushing! Be reasonable.

thickasabrick 09-03-2005 06:49 PM
Aren't all drugs natural?
Well you don't typically see a meth tree outside your house. I'm saying that I don't use any drugs that are synthesized in a lab. I'd do peyote too, if I could find it.
Not all fans of classic rock do drugs you know. Ignorant prick.
I also forgot to bring up that point! I have been listening to Classic Rock since I was (now I gotta figure this out)....about 12 years old. I started using drugs when I was about 16. It wasn't actually that long ago....maybe about a year. Just about the same time I joined this forum. :amaze:

If you stayed in this thread long enough you would realize that we are an extraordinarily open-minded group of people who listen to many different geres and artists. Being one of these people I find it very hard to believe that anyone could condemn not only a genre, but an era so absolutely. I'd like to know what you listen to that seems to give you this authority

Leper 09-03-2005 06:59 PM

There are so many points I'd like to criticize in that guy's post that it's giving me a headache.

thickasabrick 09-03-2005 07:01 PM

Although I like that you accused me of using drugs to "try and get in touch with their genius." That's what most people don't understand, I'm just trying to gain some form of wisdom or spirituality. I hate it when people say all drug users are "trying to escape the pressures of life" or "dealing with problems".
