Oh well thanks very much for the welcome. Yea i do feel pretty left out lol specially as im a girl and most people in this forum are boys lol. ive decided i like this forum - the people are nice :-D
Walrus Gumboot is a girl too, you'll see her around here and any other CR thread.

Christ, I've got some catching up to do.

Edit: Stick around for about a month, you'll start to feel a big classic rock community/ family-ish thing.

I remember something that Lunch said when Badmoon told him to stop spamming the thread.

You're not the only one

Today I am beigning to think that my Philosophy class is a Classic Rock class. I can't belive it. First we listened to DSOTM, and now he is telling us about how "A band named CSNY*" (He knows there can't be more than 4 or 5 musically educated individuals in the class) "did a song called Teach Your Children, and then something happened that made Neil Young so upset that he ran away for two days. This song was called Ohio, and they recorded and released it so soon that it bumped Teach Your Children right off the #1 spot, even though, finacially, this is very stupid. Does anyone know what this song was about?"

*time at which I suppressed the urge to blurt out "Kent State!"

He is asking us to bring in cool lyrics from songs to put all around the room, I am thinking "Grandpa's Interview" from Greendale :D

PS- He also lectured a little bit about Syd Barret. And Interstellar Overdrive. This is my best class all year, and the funniest part is that nobody else thinks its interesting enough to listen too. Its so strange how disrespectful Honors classes students can be of things that they consider below them
/gets new friends

MBS 09-02-2005 04:55 PM

Heh, I would have blurted out Kent State and gotten goody points with the teacher early. :)

Walrus Gumboot 09-02-2005 05:00 PM
Heh, I would have blurted out Kent State and gotten goody points with the teacher early. :)
yeah, and now I didn't, and that stupid valedictorian whore got the goody points. The one who was complaining about how stupid the DSOTM project was

I love Just What I Needed, great song

Glitterati 09-02-2005 05:02 PM

Only chavs don't know that it's about Kent State.
Only chavs don't know that it's about Kent State.
They have chavs in Canada? I thought they only made those in the UK!
Here we just call them white trash or my favorite "ghetto hicks"

Illmatic 09-02-2005 05:11 PM

Aren't "chavs" just a bizarre combination of wiggers and white trash?

Glitterati 09-02-2005 05:14 PM
They have chavs in Canada?
Well, yeah. We call them wiggers, but I picked up the term chav from this forum.
Aren't "chavs" just a bizarre combination of wiggers and white trash?
Pretty much.

Ok, you scared me for a second there :)
It's hard to find people on this continent that use that term, minus the MXicans for sure.

Badmoon 09-02-2005 05:21 PM

Chavs are English. And being that their are rarely any English in this thread, I'm wondering why we're using that term instead of Wigger.
Aren't "chavs" just a bizarre combination of wiggers and white trash?
I guess British White trash, being that from what I've seen are different from American White Trash.

And I cannot see a Wigger/White Trash American. It just doesn't fit.

I know this is pretty off topic , but ive always wondered , what happened to that bonzo guy who started the thread ?

MBS 09-02-2005 06:22 PM

b0nz0 leaves, then comes back, then leaves again.

He's came back 2 or 3 times, staying for about a week.

I had a class like that last semester. I finished the final exam in 10 minutes

You son of a bitch.

We don't get that at University of Illinois.

Is this at MSU or a community college?

This one's at Oakland Community College, but it transfers to MSU, so maybe it's there too?

I think I'll give it a chance though. Clapton's released some crap though. Money and Ciggarettes /shudders. I've got a lot of other Clapton that I want before I get that one though- Riding With The King, Me and Mr. Johnson, One More Car, One More Rider...

Thread's really dead today.

Of course you should get it.

And Magicbus....you are one lucky son of a binch. I read a book titled Rock and Roll (which I've mentioned before, forget the author) which seems to follow your overview exactly. Guaranteed your prof has read this book, and is most likely getting some of his information from it. Each chapter is basically exactly what you are learning each week. Good book too, highly recommended...I wish I could remember the authors name.

That's the greatest class ever. No Pink Floyd though.

Lunch 09-02-2005 08:04 PM

I'll have to come up there for Week 13.

robo2448 09-02-2005 08:04 PM
That's the greatest class ever. No Pink Floyd though.
Yeah, I'm kind of surprised PF was left out.

Edit- Actually no prog bands mentioned in there at all. Oh well, the class is still amazing.

thickasabrick 09-02-2005 08:06 PM

God**** I'm jealous of Magicbus.

Listening to Rainy Day Women #12 & 35.....and now I'm going out for a wild night on the town. See ya guys!

Lunch 09-02-2005 08:09 PM

Too bad they don't have enough time to go more in depth into psychedelia and all that, but it still sounds awesome. Aaron, being a CR reg for over a year now, you'll probably know most of whats covered.

Walrus Gumboot 09-02-2005 08:13 PM

Wow, I am jealous beyond reason. Three weeks of Beatles. I would be happy for 3 minutes. And a week of Tommy. I don't think I'm applying to any colleges with that sort of thing though. Just Flamenco dancing :D

College is suiting you well, then?

EDIT: Who would have thought that haunting this forum would get you any college credits

Lunch 09-02-2005 08:20 PM

I'd like to go to a college where I could major in the Allman Brothers.

rockinbass17 09-02-2005 08:27 PM

I would actaully want to write a paper for that class. It would be fun to write about the history of my favorite songwriters and bands.

Walrus Gumboot 09-02-2005 08:29 PM
I'd like to go to a college where I could major in the Allman Brothers.
One of the colleges (Bard) I want to get into lets you take pretty much anything for a major, as long as you do a senior thesis, and when you graduate its actually very credible (always a plus). I'd like to see a Grateful Dead major, haha

angusmaster 09-02-2005 08:36 PM

When i go to college , im gonna try and go to a school like magicbus' and have a classic rock class , that would make me happy . Edit: That would be funny if someone asked you what you majored in , and you tell them Led Zeppelin .

Lunch 09-02-2005 08:38 PM

I know at Case Western (in Cleveland) they have a history of Rock and Roll class, and you get to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame once a week for it.
