Wu-Tang Clan - 8 Diagrams

it's a grower musically, and only a handful of clan members still deliver hype verse **** and the others either sound really bored or can't gel with the beat
*Shels - Sea of the Dying Dhow
I always thought they just mistyped "Show" one time and thought it looked cool, but then I looked up Dhow and realize it actually makes sense. :(

ATM 11-28-2007 12:33 AM

Album is really good :)

The Jesus Lizard - Down

the best place for you is the hell outta my sight
this was my favorite thread. i was just checking in to see how much our tastes have changed.
The first fifty pages of this thing are like a time capsule of this board. I liked when we did the favorite albums by decade thread, too. That was kinda neat to see how tastes changed but the old ones always disappeared.

Anywho.

Michael Yonkers - Microminiature Love
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Underground

I remember listening to something by Ariel Pink a long time ago and really not liking it. I kinda like this. Some stuff more than others. Mostly the stuff that sounds good on headphones and stuff.

Simon Finn- Accidental Life

This is one of the best things I've experienced in life ever.

Glitterati 11-28-2007 03:11 AM

Iron & Wine/Calexico - In The Reins

This is beautiful.

pixiesfanyo 11-28-2007 03:12 AM

Ghostface Killah - Ironman

I don't know why I didn't like this the first time I heard it. It quite possibly could be my favorite Wu.

br3ad_man 11-28-2007 04:15 AM

Black Dice - Load Blown
Supersilent - 8

Some of the better albums of the year.

Little Man being Erased 11-28-2007 04:30 AM

What are Black Dice like? I seem to have them in my head as something I should listen to.

br3ad_man 11-28-2007 04:37 AM

They're probably not like anything you've heard before. I can't think of another group who sounds like them. Their earlier stuff is experimental/noise type music and the new one is mostly electronic and it has a lot tribal rhythms but still quite experimental. Quite inaccessible stuff, but it's awesome.

I only have Load Blown and Beaches and Canyons, both are different and I'd recommend either.

Little Man being Erased 11-28-2007 04:51 AM

Hmm sounds interesting. I may have to check out Load Blown.

Zebra 11-28-2007 07:25 AM

Creature Comforts is my favorite Black Dice album, "Treetops" is stunning.

Giraffes? Giraffes! - Superbass!!

I wish the music was as exciting as the name.

negrodamus 11-28-2007 05:49 PM

Okkervil River - The Stage Names
Ulver - Shadows of the Sun

Shadows of the Sun blows.

Burial-Untrue

Really cool album. I also read his interview, he seems like a really cool guy, although I disagree with his thought that "underground music" should be really difficult to find

YDload 11-28-2007 06:53 PM

Rodan - Rusty

haha what the hell is this band? first track is really slow, Slint-like instrumental. then the next song comes on and its a post-hardcore freakout. i dunno but i like it a lot.

I wish the music was as exciting as the name.
Oh yeah for sure, I find myself trying to like it more because it's such a good name.

Been digging Foals loads the last few days. Not sure how well known they are in the US or anything but they're getting noticed a lot here, one of the most exciting acts of 08 methinks.

You'd like June of '44.

YDload 11-28-2007 07:46 PM

no i wouldnt. thats the same line of reasoning i got from being a Minus The Bear fan but it actually doesnt quite add up. June of '44 just isnt as good as you think i think they are

I could never get into Black Dice. They've got a couple really neat songs but most of it is just too obtuse for me.

Still listening to Ariel Pink. Our radio station got Scared Famous and I wanna hear it.

Anus Invader 11-28-2007 10:42 PM

why do all of the Police's songs fade out?

Oh well I'll see how I go, they seem to be hit or miss based on the few comments in this thread.

The Jesus Lizard - Goat
