what's happenin everybody?
I am looking for good examples of Rap-Country.

Got three examples already.

clown_phobia 05-07-2005 10:51 PM

does beatles - across the universe have a bassline?

MalcolmYoungRock 05-07-2005 10:51 PM

I like to call rap-country Crap.

... what? It works.

MalcolmYoungRock 05-07-2005 10:52 PM
does beatles - across the universe have a bassline?
Nope, it was just John and his acoustic guitar.

lunch998 05-07-2005 10:53 PM

Should I make this Who biography I just did a Featured Artist or not? I'm reluctant too because most FAs are about lesser known people, whereas everyone knows The Who.

So you think Beck and The North Mississippi Allstars are "Crap"?

Well, your music taste just sucks then, now doesn't it?

MalcolmYoungRock 05-07-2005 10:55 PM

Well someone did an FA on The Doors and Guns N Roses, so I'd say go for it.

clown_phobia 05-07-2005 10:56 PM
Nope, it was just John and his acoustic guitar.
do you think it would ruin it if my band covered it with drums and bass?
Well someone did an FA on The Doors and Guns N Roses, so I'd say go for it.
This is true. And The Who>both of them.

I have a feeling I'll be hearing crap from a lot of people that The Doors>The Who.

Rap-Country??? I didn't even know there was such a genre..closest thing i can figure is that it would sound like Beck...

Calm down 'Poon. It was a joke.

Just don't overdo it and you'll be okay. Remember that the key part of the song is John's vocals and guitar.

Badmoon 05-07-2005 11:00 PM
Calm down 'Poon. It was a joke.
My respect for you has previously been shot; jokes are no longer excepted.

...joke

I think you should, I mean a while ago sombody did a Pink Floyd one. While a lot of people know who the Who are, not as many know how big of an impact they had on rock. I think you should do one.

MalcolmYoungRock 05-07-2005 11:02 PM

Yeah, that was Med, he did a really good job with it.

Leper 05-07-2005 11:03 PM

so...what are some other examples of country-rap?..

Badmoon 05-07-2005 11:04 PM

Kid Rock did a bunch of occasionally interesting (IMO) Country Rap songs. Like "Cowboy".

There are other example; I'm sure. I just can't think of them.

I was also told the Drive By Truckers had some Country Rap...ish kind of stuff. I only have one of their albums, and it doesn't really have any though.
My respect for you has previously been shot; jokes are no longer excepted.
Wait, let me get this straight. You've actually had respect for Malcom at some point in time?

( :p )

ahh yaa i guess i'd classify kid rock as country-rap. If you like that "Cowboy" sound, you should check out his album "the history of rock" if you don't already have it. I bought it when i was younger and it's got some really interesting material on it. :thumb:

Yea, I had that awhile ago. I thought is was pretty good back then. Same with Devil without a Cause. I liked that album a lot.

Ya some of the stuff on those albums you listen to and you don't know whether you like it or not because it's so diverse in sounds, at least that's what i thought anyways.

That has to be one of the most white trash songs I've heard.

To Everyone: Feel free to cheak out my tribute to Nick Drake

NP: Pharaoh's Dance - Miles Davis

  that's good, let's go with that.

Leper 05-08-2005 12:00 AM

Anyone here really familiar with a band named Chlliwack?

Badmoon 05-08-2005 12:06 AM
That has to be one of the most white trash songs I've heard.
Well, that is basically its concept. So apparently the writing got that idea through.

"Strait outta Compton! I'm strait outta the trailor".

I remember that line.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 05-08-2005 12:12 AM

Hearing that song makes me want to wash my hands it's so trashy.

Every regular here needs to give all material done by Miles Davis a good listin or two.

Edit: Fix'd. :)

Illmatic 05-08-2005 12:19 AM
Every regular here needs to give just about all material done by Miles Davis a good listen or two.
Fix'd.
