No wonder my pizzas never arrive in less than an hour, you're too busy ninja-ing the place up.

I'm worried that, with all the other gold, it'll take away from it. It's a sexy-*** material, but he may be right. I should order the hardware first, go grab a black plate from GC, and if I don't like it, take it back and order the "gold flow" one.

Jody LeCompte 07-15-2009 12:48 PM

Well...

It's actually a scrapper....

And if you peak behind me, you'll see I'm done with it.

Lawl.

Psh.

I'm not worried about them gangsta *** niggas.

How well could you possibly aim with the gun practically upside down?

FunkMetalBass 07-15-2009 01:11 PM

Idk, they manage to carry a loaded gun in their pants with the safety off and the barrel aimed right at their dongs without blowing them off accidentally...

I'll give them credit where it's due.

fatbandit 07-15-2009 06:39 PM

I just think the whole colour scheme sounds a bit yuck. I'm not a fan of gold hardware in the slightest. It's vile and just rubs off to reveal the silver underneath and the fact it isn't really gold. Keep it simple and you can't go wrong.

I think I'm gonna buy an RC-20 and ME-50B, except I already got the deal for the Me-5ob so I can't help you there.

Spaceman Spiff 07-15-2009 08:10 PM

How much for the RC-50?

I have gold hardware on my Schecter and on my 8-string, and they have never rubbed off. I think the Conklin was just made poorly, because mine did the same thing.

I'm thinking I might stealth it out though with all black hardware, so it'll look more like this:

I'll save the gold hardware for my next custom in 3 years.

BenJammin 07-16-2009 10:32 AM
How much for the RC-50?
I'd be looking for $400, shipped.

FunkMetalBass 07-16-2009 10:58 AM

GD.

3 hipshot ultralites + 1 hipshot ultralite xtender = $156.76 + s/h.

:upset:

All together, the total for black hardware + black pickguard + s/h = $263.33

Damn.

BenJammin 07-16-2009 11:06 AM

Don't bother, man. It's not going to make your bass play any better. Just look better.

FunkMetalBass 07-16-2009 11:12 AM
Don't bother, man. It's not going to make your bass play any better. Just look better.
Right. Well, the ultralites have a purpose, because the bass feels just a little neck heavy, but the rest is purely for aesthetics.

I guess I'll deal with the slight neck dive for now.

BenJammin 07-16-2009 11:31 AM

Yep. If you cringe at the price of something, you shouldn't be buying it.

FunkMetalBass 07-16-2009 11:35 AM

there's nothing wrong with upgrading your bass for aesthetic reasons ... though I wouldn't spend more than a hundred bucks or so to do it.

FunkMetalBass 07-16-2009 12:16 PM
there's nothing wrong with upgrading your bass for aesthetic reasons ... though I wouldn't spend more than a hundred bucks or so to do it.
It is when you can't afford to do it.

Otherwise all of my basses would have aesthetic upgrades.

fatbandit 07-16-2009 02:35 PM

Meh. I'd do it. But I'm an absolute sucker for aesthetics. I don't want to play something if I don't like the look of it. Black hardware looks best in every situation. EVERY situation.

I disagree, especially if the fretboard is rosewood. I hate the dark brown/black combo on basses (like black bodies, rosewood FB...ew).

fatbandit 07-16-2009 04:03 PM

Well if you follow the basic rule that you seem to have down anyway (dark body = maple board, light body = rosewood board), then you can't go wrong. Though maple boards do go with EVERYTHING.

I'd still say black hardware goes with everything as well though :)

My band just got offered a distribution thing, but we need a release quality full length for them to distribute first :/

Electric Requiem 07-16-2009 04:26 PM

Chrome or brushed metal finishes will almost always look better than black.
Black looks cheap.

Light body = ebony board. I really dislike the look of rosewood. It works well with my Schecter, but I've never found another instance where I'd choose to have it on my bass, and it's actually a make-or-break deal with me anymore.

fatbandit 07-16-2009 04:48 PM

Funny, I find chrome looks cheap. Black is more understated and classy IMO.

Spaceman Spiff 07-16-2009 05:13 PM

I should paint my guitar white. That would be sweet. It looks awesome in black, I must say, but I love white guitars and basses.

Spaceman Spiff 07-16-2009 05:23 PM

Pickle, what's your opinion on The Red Album? I've only heard that Pork n' Beans song.

I hated Make Believe, thought it was a big pile of garbage. I don't really recall what Maladroit was like, Green had some good stuff. Blue and Pinkerton are obviously pure awesome.

Mr. Pickle 07-16-2009 05:27 PM

My opinion is obviously bias, because I'm a total Weezer fag. However, overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Kind of a shame that some of the best songs are sung by the other members of the band, but I still <3 Rivers. It isn't so much of a "dude, this rocks," kind of album, but more like an album the makes you tap your foot, and whatnot. Some catchy riffs throughout. A fair range of variety as well, imo.

If you're going to get it/download it/whatever, I'd suggest getting the deluxe version. Has a couple good bonuses.

Spaceman Spiff 07-16-2009 05:36 PM

Yeah, I know you love them, that's why I asked you. I figured you'd be someone who's very familiar with all their albums, and, although you'd be biased, you'd still have something helpful to say.

fatbandit 07-16-2009 05:43 PM

None of the tracks lived up to Pork and Beans to me. I'm not sure there's another good album in Weezer to be honest.

Epidemechanical 07-16-2009 05:47 PM

so im doing like a jazzy standard tune link me to some dark lounge-y tunes so i can mirror mix the lofi beat and see how they construct them

gogo

gaslight 07-16-2009 06:57 PM

What standard are you doing?

Epidemechanical 07-16-2009 06:58 PM
What standard are you doing?
i have no idea link me some stuff that you think is groovy

gaslight 07-16-2009 07:02 PM

Love to help you bro but I don't think I listen to anything dark and loungey :(.

Epidemechanical 07-16-2009 07:05 PM

i dont even know if anything like that exists which is why im asking lmao im trying to branch out and juxtapose my sort of crazed, belligerent, sex-obsessed musical persona with like a lofi jazzy vibe i think thats interesting

hence me asking if there is some artist somewhere that fits this so i dont have to go in so blindly

im working with a friend of mine on it hes doing most of the rhythm stuff and its pretty cool so far

Dark and loungy? How about the opening song in Pulp Fiction it's by Nancy Sinatra I don't remember the name (quick google search would fix that) but I think it'd make a cool sade cover*

*nothing sade ever does is cool
