You ever heard of Yndi Halda?
Indeed I have :)

They made the best post-rock album ever released.

Or so I'm told.

I don't think they're that special. Why do you ask?
Theres a classical, jazz, and blues thread.

The guitar forum isn't a bad place, they just don't put up with the stupid **** we do over here.

EDIT: Theres going to be a huge jam featuring me on fingerstlye acoustic and fretless bass in the blues thread :D
That sounds cool. Speaking of fingerstyle, I'm having a wicked hard time recording my acoustic. I had some really nice parts which I pretty much forgot because I can't get a good recording. Cheap mics ftl:angry:

Jody LeCompte 10-08-2006 10:41 PM

I almost bought a sigma 12 string when I went with soup to put money down on his urge, but I couldnt play fingerstyle on it at all.

Your recording with the alvarez?

Thonk 10-08-2006 10:42 PM

No reason, really.

User Name 10-08-2006 10:43 PM

Yeah, it's pretty much all I play now. I haven't touched my bass in 3 days and it's been even longer with my sg.

I been working full time, moved out of my parrents house, and met a guitarist who is kinda cool, and thats about it.

:chug: cheers to something man.

BenJammin 10-08-2006 10:44 PM

@Jody: 2 years ago, when I was in grade 12, I was taking a world music class. We were studying the blues and my teacher told us to have a blues jam. So myself, a keyboardist, a guitarist and a drummer held down the rhythm section while we had people play on trombone, trumpet, congas, and marimba and we all took solos. We jammed for a solid hour. It was one of my favorite musical moments.

Actually, because you posted that and replied with a completely biased unprecedented post, I decided to put their album on. It's hitting the spot really nicely, actually. Thanks for tipping me off man :)

Ive got my older cousin on the lookout for a box, Im trading my ibanez for a shecter elite, then I think Im going to put some money aside to get my fretless restored and refinished.

Ben: Jamming is the most rewarding thing you can possibly do. I want to be in jam band but even the best musicians around here cant improvise for shizzle.

I cant wait for college, it'll be so ace.

Sucks there as well, but there are more people. I need to have a good jam soon, haven't had one for a few weeks.

Yeah. That was an amazing experience. It was crucial in my development as a bass player, too, because the teacher told me to take a solo and I tried to fight him on it, saying that I didn't solo. But he forced me to and I played one and it sucked and I was embarassed for making a scene in the class, so I resolved to learn how to play so as not to ever look dumb when playing again.

It is a mistake to take time off, if you take a year off saying that you are going to go to university, most don't.

I was thinking of taking like 3 years off to become a trucker. I probably wouldn't end up going back. Then again, I might go Air Force so I can get a free education. The problem is, I have no idea what I wanna do.

IPolkaLikeThis! 10-08-2006 11:01 PM

I am taking a second year off.

I know I need to go to school, but I dont know what I want to do yet, so I kinda feel like why bother going now...

And I have a steady paycheck right now, so I kinda dont want to loose it..

I had that plan too, truckers make some bank... but it gets boring very fast. driving is quite lame...

thelowsoundofbass 10-08-2006 11:04 PM

I don't know what I am going to do either, if I can't decide by the time I am done school I will either become a teacher (teachers get paid really well in canada) or go to grad school.

I think I'd enjoy it. My original plan was just to drive around the country but you don't get paid to do that. Maybe I could donate sperm across the country and live off that money.
