I like Fearless better. Al Fish does a great cover of it too.

MattSharpIsCool 02-11-2007 07:07 PM

Seamus catches a lot of hate, but I think it's a pretty good song. It's not meant to be taken seriously, and it's kind of cool to see Floyd playing the blues.

magicbus 02-11-2007 07:08 PM

I had a dream that I had a vinyl copy of Meddle and there were two extra songs on the Echoes side. I can't remember what the songs were, but they were like unreleased and they were good. Everyone was like convinced that it was the best Floyd record.

Damn :(

Yield 02-11-2007 07:09 PM

That must have been a huge letdown when you woke up.

Riva 02-11-2007 07:20 PM

I hate realistic dreams in which things go swell then you wake up and it's like "Golly, it must have all been a dream. Got to get over this disappointment, and FAST"

MattSharpIsCool 02-11-2007 07:22 PM

That drives me nuts. I used to get those all of the time when I was younger.

Yield 02-11-2007 07:22 PM

I used to have dreams when I was a kid that I didn't have to go to school and then I got to go to Chucky Cheese or something like that.

Still pretty neat, though. In the dream, did you actually listen to the songs?

magicbus 02-11-2007 08:42 PM

Yeah, I remember them being like more synthy stuff like WYWH or The Wall, but it was so cool! What a letdown.

rippa32 02-11-2007 09:15 PM

lol I hate that. It goes all great for you in the dream and then it's over. Itd be cool if you could never wake up, who cares if its not real at least your happy.

Yield 02-11-2007 09:24 PM

 Do you remember the lyrics?
Anyways, I watched Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead yesterday. Pretty good movie. They had Seamus in there and at one part they started to play Echoes, which was funny considering the context in which they played it.
OMG HAMLET AND PINK FLOYD I HAVE TO WATCH THIS MOVIE

Match made in heaven :)

rippa32 02-12-2007 02:40 AM

I had to watch the first part of that in English while studying Hamlet. And I was the only one to recognise Seamus. I felt pretty special lol.

Jim 02-12-2007 02:48 AM

I wish that happened to me :(

I'd be acting all cool 'cos I know Floyd and none of the other drop-kicks would bat an eyelid

Music elitism ftw :D

Riva 02-12-2007 03:02 AM

Did you have to watch Kenneth Brannagh's version? The four hour one? It's enjoyable, but it really, really, really goes on forever.

Jim 02-12-2007 03:08 AM

We're talkin 'bout Rosencrantz & Gulidenstern Are Dead, which I haven't seen but I really want to now :(

And I agree about Kenneth Brannaghs version, although I've only seen the edited one :D

Enjoyable movie, but I could've played a better grave-digger than Billy Crystal

Riva 02-12-2007 03:12 AM

Nah, I knew what you were talking about, but rippa was watching Hamlet in English, which is what I had to do too, in year 12.

MattSharpIsCool 02-12-2007 03:17 AM

I think I did Hamlet sophomore year, or year 10 to you foreigners.

But we didn't watch that movie. Now I wish we had.

Jim 02-12-2007 03:23 AM

I watched it in Year 12 too Reev :)

Apocalyptic Raids 02-12-2007 03:58 AM

I did King Lear in Year 12.

Riva 02-12-2007 04:01 AM

But New South Wales is like the arsehole of Australia, and you're the shit that fell out of it, Jono. :-*

Apocalyptic Raids 02-12-2007 04:04 AM

That cut me real deep. Real deep.

:'(

Adelaide ftw

QLD education ftw. I only saw part of that though, I only really remember him flipping a coin about 500 times and getting heads.

Now here's something we all might want to pay attention to. Apparently the planning of another series of Live 8 concerts is in the works to gain awareness to Global Warming. Even though I hate foxnews, that have made me happy with this one. Here's the article...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,251410,00.html

I gotta admit, I'm getting a little jittery. There's always hope...

EDIT: The part I'm talking about is half way down the page
I like Fearless better. Al Fish does a great cover of it too.
YES. Fearless is currently my favourite Floyd song.

Roochie 02-12-2007 03:00 PM

I haven't heard much of their music. But I will say from what I've heard I like them.

Yield 02-12-2007 04:21 PM

What have you heard from Pink Floyd so far?

It'll be good if Floyd gets together for it again. We can but hope.

I don't think global warming is the issue the media is making it out to be though.

I agree though does the bands actually help global warming at all?

Riva 02-12-2007 04:39 PM

I'd say Bob Geldof is trying to raise awareness of global warming through the concerts.

I hope not. Poor polar bears (among other species).

MattSharpIsCool 02-12-2007 07:52 PM

I think the earth goes through cycles, which in large part leads to the warming. It is happening though, I think most people can agree that something is going on, with glaciers melting and environments changing. I think it is a natural occurence, but the greenhouse gases don't help much.

Hamilcar 02-12-2007 08:54 PM
I'd say Bob Geldof is trying to raise awareness of global warming through the concerts.
Unfortunately the article says that Geldof is not involved.

It is happening, and it is a natural process of glaciation/inter-glaciation. However, the facts about greenhouse gases are often grossly misunderstood. For example, water is the main greenhouse gas, with only small percentages of methane and carbon dioxide present in comparison. Whilst the projected temperature rise is significant when compared to recent inter-glaciations, it is difficult to lay the blame entirely on greenhouse gas emissions.
Unfortunately the article says that Geldof is not involved.
Ah, I only skimmed the article so I missed that part. Since Floyd did it as a personal favour for Geldof, I think, I doubt they'll be reuniting for this Live8. :(

ghettoeddo 02-12-2007 11:47 PM

my friend insists global warming doesn't exist.
she says "it's global cooling cuz it's so cold everywhere if anything"

rippa32 02-12-2007 11:59 PM

I see. And where did he get this idea?

However im with Riva on this one.

Jim 02-13-2007 03:47 AM

Global warming is a myth perpetuated by the corporations to get us to buy their grossly overpriced ceiling fans and refridgerators. Global warming is coming alright - to a store near you!!!

Riva's avatar and location ftw :smoke:

MattSharpIsCool 02-13-2007 04:05 AM

Darth Vader and A Night at the Roxbury. That's probably the coolest avatar I've ever seen. Awesome.

rippa32 02-13-2007 04:54 AM

I don't get the location but avatar is awesome.
