there are tonnnnns of different good jazz rides, check out pretty much anything from sabians HH/HHX lines, Zildjian's K/K customs, along with other companies such as bosphorus, istanbul, and so on. I like the 22" K Ride

crackpot_theory 08-14-2006 03:13 PM

excellent, now how would the hhx or hh's fare in the world of hard rock?

Chester 08-14-2006 03:38 PM

yea, hh and hhx work with rock. I bet some would be better choices than other, but they will do great. I was jsut looknig, Mike Portnoy has an HH ride

HeLLmO 08-14-2006 04:24 PM

HH rides are great for rock, i'm gettin' the HH medium ride because it's a great ride, and you can crash it

Chester 08-14-2006 10:39 PM

woo! lets start a riot for no reason.

drummguy731 08-14-2006 11:44 PM

I'm thinking of getting an A Custom Top/Z Dyno Beat bottom 13". I'm playing almost everything that you can think from Tool to Green Day, and my own stuff as well. I heard a good sound preview of it and I'm really looking to buy a Zildjian Hi-Hat. I was wondering what these hats were like. Thanks

they would be good, but New Beats would be better

Aaron 08-15-2006 12:44 AM

You can get A/Zs already. The A Custom/Z would be a brighter version.

Static 08-16-2006 12:18 AM

I was just agreeing with you.

123 is dated.

Aaron 08-16-2006 01:16 AM

haha, nice.

chewaz 08-16-2006 08:18 PM

woot'z 123 means?

Static 08-16-2006 08:32 PM

I agree.

Or

What he said.

HeLLmO 08-19-2006 12:29 PM

k, i'm lookin' for a nice, crashable ride, 20 or 22'', from zildjian or sabian, if anyone's got an idea, please shoot it out, it can be anything along the lines of A, A Custom, K, K custom, AA, AAX, HH, HHX, or Sig. it's gotta be fairly versitile and have a fairly good bell.

stevensonmat2 08-19-2006 12:37 PM

Why not one of those Hyrbids?

Drum Phil 08-19-2006 12:47 PM

HHX Legacy rides are insanely crashable.

Daven 08-19-2006 04:24 PM

So a friend of mine is looking for a cheap set of cymbals. He was looking into the Sabians b8's and the Zildjian ZXT rock. Can someone help him.

I told him he would want to upgrade soon, but he didnt hear me.

i know it's not 20 or 22" but the sweet ride is HELLA crashable.

HeLLmO 08-19-2006 06:43 PM
HHX Legacy rides are insanely crashable.
they are crashable, but i don't dig the sound of the ride itself that much.

i'll definatly check out the sweet ride ETP, but how does the actual ride itself sound?

raz0r 08-20-2006 08:14 AM
i know it's not 20 or 22" but the sweet ride is HELLA crashable.
Doesn't have much ping though. Doesn't cut through louder music

Tim 08-20-2006 09:00 AM
HHX Legacy rides are insanely crashable.
not to mention they sound like a garbage lid when ridden on.(and by garbage lid i dont mean it sounds like crap or anything its just a really metal/trashy sound...like hitting a metal lid). You can bend that dang ride with 1 hand its so thin.

HeLLmO 08-20-2006 09:10 AM
Doesn't have much ping though. Doesn't cut through louder music
really? damn.

who's got experience with the 21'' meinl byznace medium ride, i know that's mad crashable because i listen to underoath, and aaron uses it as a crash, but i'm just not sure on how the rest of it sounds

Triggen 08-20-2006 10:00 AM

Hey,

Im thinking of getting some new cymbals, would a Zildjian ZXT 16in Crash + 18in Crash + Ride suit music such as Green Day and Blink 182? It also comes with a 14in hi hat aswell....It will cost alot of money so I dont want to make the wrong choice...Please help..=)

Drum Phil 08-20-2006 10:20 AM

No. Zxts are cheap crap.

HeLLmO 08-20-2006 11:28 AM

ZXTs are very bad. check out Paiste PST5, Sabian XS20 and Meinl Classics. remember, just because Travis and Tre use(ed) them, doesn't mean they are good

Seafroggys 08-20-2006 11:59 AM

ZXTs cost a lot of money?

Ha! They're cheap *** cymbals. I'd hate for you to see the pricetag on some good quality cymbals.

With my job, I can literally buy one new cymbal a week (pro-grade) :D

Daven 08-20-2006 01:20 PM

It depeneds where he lives. Wher i live, a stupid ZXT pack costs around 450 dollars. Everything is overpriced.

Seafroggys 08-20-2006 01:33 PM

well, no, he could think they're insanely expensive if they're from like a local guitar center. Its all relative, really. If he thinks they are expensive, no matter the price, I'd hate to see what he thinks about the price of Paiste Sigs.

Daven 08-20-2006 01:36 PM

Hmmm, i guess you're right then. :)

What's the opinion on Paiste's 302?

Triggen 08-20-2006 05:17 PM

Well, I am looking for cymbals that suit the music like Green Day and Blink 182, as we are doing some cover versions, so I would like them to sound good =)

Oh btw, Tre Cool and Travis Barker dont use ZXT Cymbals, they use Custom K and A Zildjian cymbals..

HeLLmO 08-20-2006 05:34 PM

oh i know they don't, but i've heard someplaces that travis did a few videos with ZXTs, and travis and tre are in the low end zildjian cymbal promos.

and 1 last thing, if you want cymbals that will sound esentially the same as A Customs, check out sabians Vault and AAX lines, because they are basically the same, but are cheaper

Drum Phil 08-20-2006 05:46 PM

Triggen 08-20-2006 05:55 PM

HeLLmO 08-20-2006 05:59 PM

that ain't somethin' to Thanks! about, believe me

Drum Phil 08-20-2006 06:14 PM
