...Brilliant. I never realized. Lennon > Einstein.

I'm in the top math class at my school. It's very difficult.

Sublime covered Lady Madonna? I must hear this.

Jacaranda 09-13-2005 07:46 PM

What CD has We Can Work it Out I can't find it on any of my albums so I'm guessing its on a CD like With The Beatles.

rockinbass17 09-13-2005 07:52 PM

I think it was just released as a single.

Ulysses 09-14-2005 12:51 AM

I've got a Limited Edition Australian Tour record from when the Beatles toured in 1964, but its had better days. It was originally a double disc set but one got misplaced decades ago. It belonged to someone else in the family and got passed down. I took it to get valued and it came in at $100, not too bad considering.
What CD has We Can Work it Out I can't find it on any of my albums so I'm guessing its on a CD like With The Beatles.
It's on one of the Past Masters CDs. It was originally just the b-side to the day tripper single.

Leper 09-14-2005 01:22 PM

Hard to imagine We Can Work it Out being a B-side. Then again it's hard to imagine most Beatles songs being just a B-side.

I was in AP Calc, but I hated it and there was so much homework, so I e-mailed my top colleges to ask them which looks better, Calc or Stats, and to my surprise they said that they look at them equally. So I hightailed it to AP Stats, and I use the time from my Calc homework to do other things. I think I will join jazz Band with all fo my extra time :D

I tortured myself over trying to choose between Calc and Stats though

Get good at guitar!

That's a good thing to do.

You'll like it better :)

I'm working on harmonica. Harmonica > Calc :)

I haven't played trombone in three years, but there are only two trobonists, I'm a senior, and the new music teacher was my teacher in grade school. It's awsome because usually you have to be in band to be in jazz band, and every instrument (minus trombone) has at least 4 people trying to get a spot because Jazz band always goes to England/FL/CA. Heh. :D

I can't wait to see Paul :D

Flaminghotchino 09-14-2005 07:33 PM

I wish my school had a jazz band. My old one did and I was thinking of playing piano in it to brush up on it..BUT OF COURSE some crazy asian chick already had it and could play a thousand times better..

And they already had like 839489384923842 guitarists so I just said **** it. I regret it now.

Man do I suck at guitar and piano.. I need to start practicing harder.

BludgeonySteve 09-14-2005 08:11 PM

Ack, Jazz. There's one genre that I can't get into. Some is good, like all genres but I don't like most of it. It's so slow and boring, I can never sense much emotion in it and I can't appreciate how hard it is to play either. Jazz fussion is a little more interesting

The Beatles are getting surprisingly popular in my school. I guess the kids are getting smarter.

Jacaranda 09-14-2005 08:12 PM

Ya, I actually can't stand Jazz.

John Lennon hated it also if I remember correctly.

BludgeonySteve 09-14-2005 08:14 PM

Yeah. It's a well known fact that John hated jazz with a passion.

Flaminghotchino 09-14-2005 08:15 PM
Ya, I actually can't stand Jazz.

Really? hmm.. interesting.

*loses some respect for lennon*

haha jk.. but yeah thats interesting.

BludgeonySteve 09-14-2005 08:16 PM
It had better be. John Lennon>Jazz. (or atleast every jazz artist. I don't know if one guy can be better than a whole genre).

robo2448 09-14-2005 08:16 PM

I don't like straight-up jazz, but I like jazz fusion. Lennon's still cool.

Flaminghotchino 09-14-2005 08:17 PM
It had better be. John Lennon>Jazz.
unless the reason he hated it, was simply because he sucked at it..

once again jk, I love lennon.

I love jazz too though..

ehh I guess I love Lennon more

Walrus Gumboot 09-14-2005 08:17 PM

I like old, old jazz. I can't stand Kenny G. and the likes. It's more like big band jazz that we get. Plus its more fun to play than to listen to. And way nicer than band just because its syncopated

BludgeonySteve 09-14-2005 08:18 PM

There ya go :)

Ulysses 09-14-2005 08:27 PM

Yeah I'm not really into the smooth jazz side of things, the more contemporary type jazz of Kenny G or the Rippingtons for the most part, I enjoy some stuff but I prefer the Cool Jazz scene, Lee Konitz, Miles Davis especially and Paul Desmond. Great, relaxing sound. Jazz/Rock/Fusion is also a personal favourite. Weather Report, Return to Forever, Mahavishnu Orchestra and of course the impeccable Frank Zappa, superb music.

Nerd :p

I can safely say I never e-mailed my top schools to see which one they'd want more, Calc or Stats.

As for jazz, I like it a lot. I like a bunch of guys, I've gone over them a bit.

Also, I think my girlfriend is a little too into 80's music. She likes a lot of great music, but she also loves the synth-pop, new wave, indie rock, post-punk, and even some of the hair metal from the 80's...I don't like or hate it either way, it's just one of those bizarre things about her. I bring this up because she made me listen to Siouxie and the Banshees' rather boring cover of "Dear Prudence" tonight.

Kenny G =/= jazz. Kenny G is smooth jazz, a crappy genre created in the bowels of hell that for some reason unknown to humanity, was labeled as jazz.

I heart jazz.

PinkFreud 09-14-2005 08:51 PM

jazz is cool.

Ulysses 09-14-2005 09:25 PM

Yeah, some people claim Kenny G is jazz and others regard it as an insult to jazz, I'm not sure where I stand, I suppose I don't think it can be put in the same genre as the likes of Dizzy Gillespie or John Coltrane.

yummyramen 09-14-2005 09:26 PM

I'm not into jazz too much, but if i make jazz band on drums then i get to go to Cali! I also want to make it because the girl i like (i'm posting it ALL over this forum) plays the drums too and she's REALLY good. and yeah, i like her.

I was wearing my beatles shirt (the black one with a ticket on it) and some other girl was wearing it and i'm like "HEY! you have the same shirt as me!" with a dorky expression. She stares and leaves.

Ulysses 09-14-2005 09:31 PM

I've got a Beatles Abbey Road shirt but unfortunately have nevr encountered a girl wearing a Beatles shirt or a shirt of any band I like, perhaps with the exception of AC/DC. It would be great to find a girl that is into the same music as me but it doesn't seem to be a happening thing, I've probably got to get out there more, all the girls I know are into either rap, goth rock, pop-punk or hardcore punk which is unfortunate because it makes it hard to relate.

That's wierd... I see LOTS of girls wearing bands i like besides like punk. Lots for some reason wear Led Zeppelin, I think I saw someone earlier with the Let It Be shirt (might've been a guy) tons of people on myspace (well it's not their shirt but in the music section)

Rayne264 09-14-2005 09:44 PM

ya my bud has one of those let it be t shirts, with the 4 four pictures of them..i want to steal it

BludgeonySteve 09-14-2005 09:45 PM

I have one of those

Seafroggys 09-14-2005 10:12 PM

Back on the jazz topic.....

I LOVED playing jazz, but don't care too much for listening to it (I like the combo stuff of the 50s better than the big band era, or the crappy slow ballad like 30 songs). I was the drummer for 3 years in my high school jazz band, I even won the award for outstanding jazz musician my senior year :)

I noticead that of any Beatle shirt, I see the Let it Be one the most. Probably because its the most 'classic rock' shirt because you can see their faces and they have that 'classic rock' look to them.

**** kids and image.

Iron_Weed 09-14-2005 11:03 PM

If anyones interested, here's a video of John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Mitch Mitchells playing Yer Blues. Pretty damn cool.

Some people wear Beatles shirts just to be "Retro Cool" I have noticed. I dont need to wear a Beatles shirt. I dont feel the need to prove that I like The Beatles.

Whereabouts do you live, because I'll come a-runnin' to see some birds in beatles shirts. I like to wear my Abbey Road shirt as I feel like i am reminding the world of just how good the Beatles are, as we move further and further away from the 60's, people tend to forget and by wearing a shirt around, I might get just one person to become interested and download one track that may in turn, turn them into a fan.

Flaminghotchino 09-15-2005 07:19 AM

around hear I see TONS of girls wearing beatles shirts. A lot of them wear led zep shirts too..

and everywhere I look theres tons of kids wearing Dark Side of the Moon shirts..so mine has kinda lost its coolness..but I still got a badass WYWH shirt heh..

I actually don't own any beatles shirts.. I was gonna buy one once, but decided to get a CD instead. My mom usually buys all my band shirts. =D

I have a white Revolver one, which is too big, but at least I got it before HotTopic started selling it in black
I have been able to successfully predict the next fashion trends in the past, and I must say, band shirts will soon peak of their popularity, and they are going down fast. Like Ugg boots

Revolver shirts = awesome. I have an Abbey Road shirt, I love it.

You say band shirts are going out of style? Now I can be unfashionably uncool again. w00t!

I know very little about Bard, unfortunately. What kind of school is it?
