I hadn't seen the douglas yet.... It's probably a better deal seeing as it is ash... but it only has one truss..... I'd get the douglas purely from a budget standpoint, and because I rather like the conservative feel to it... my middle name is douglas too... coincedence? I think not!

PaulSimonon 08-27-2004 12:01 AM

wow..... you guys sorted out while I was typing... Props! I want the Z too, but the $$ is my main concern

Foxfire 08-27-2004 12:03 AM

I'd like the fretless HXB-406 but only because it's lined. The Z is superior but I want a lined fretless. I'd epoxy it in the end and throw on some Barts and a Aguilar preamp (assuming I ever got the money  ). I'm going to head out now I think; thanks EP and Paul for your help with fitness related stuff.

PaulSimonon 08-27-2004 12:06 AM

hmm Is a British carpet-made Trace Eliott 1x15 combo aprox 100 watts enough to fill a medium sized church hall? If not, I think i'll go with the fender because it has an extension line out

Ojne truss? explain what a truss is what it does and what the disidvantages of only having 1 is,

e p 08-27-2004 12:13 AM

Ok I need to read 300+ pages of a novel in 5 days for school. Nothing beats procrastination.

We have one week from now.. And we havn't played it together once :p The guitarist just got the song yesterday, and the drummer only knows it roughly.. lol.

If all else fails... BASS/DRUM SOLO!!

PaulR 08-27-2004 02:47 AM

I wanted to do a subject called "Music Technology" which was arranging and recording music but my stupid school decided they werent having any of that.
So I'm gonna do computer science and teach myself the musical side.
How old are you? - and what country are you from? - your colleges seem to work differently to ours.

PaulR 08-27-2004 02:50 AM

We were thinking "Freebird" but thats no fun on bass.
I have a stupid idea that may or may not work - what do you think:
I play the synth line to Jump by Van Halen on bass...

popinfresh 08-27-2004 02:51 AM
So I've got a pretty cool story to share with you guys...

Phil Collins played here tonight, and yesterday he had a big rehersal (by the way, he's still a total bad *** on the drums). Anyway, I came in, and was standing in my dad's workshop talking with him. My dad loves burning CD's and bringing them to work, so we had a Miles Davis's Bitches Brew CD blaring in the background. My dad looks up, and he's like "Man... aint it the greatest?" And I'm like "Huh?" And from behind me I hear "Yup." So I turn around, and there is this older guy standing there with his eyes closed, totally groovin to Miles Davis. And my dad says "You can listen as long as ya like." And he smiled at us, said "Thanks." and walked off. And I look at my dad and I say "Dude... you know who that was?" And he's like "Nope." and I say "Dude! That was Leland Sklar!" And he's like "Who?" So later that night, after he got home, I showed him the Bass Player with him in it. And he's like "Whoa... that's so strange seeing him in a magazine."

So,anyway, that was my brush with fame for the week. I just though it was so cool.

Cool. I wish I could have a brush with fame.

ocdrumandbass 08-27-2004 03:15 AM
Are there any cool people on here that live in Orange County, CA besides me?

Answer: No.

joe
ok, i have to ask...

whats it REALLY like there. what do you do? do you live in a gigantic beautiful house? i know, naive, but i am very curious.

if you do live in a huge home, you're not gettin my dollar. popin can have it.

JoeDaddio 08-27-2004 03:21 AM

haha. No. Do not believe thw show. I am an overnight security guard at a hockey arena who had to maove back home because he was to broke to pay rent. I work full time, and I go to school full time. It's anything but hot women, huge houses, drugs, and booze. Although that doesn't sound too bad when I put it that way....

Regardless, I hate it here.

AfroMan 08-27-2004 03:22 AM

You can still get a hold of me at paul_h123@msn.com

joe

ocdrumandbass 08-27-2004 03:42 AM

hey does anyone know how to get feedback on a bass? is it possible? im trying now, and all im getting is a bunch of stupid sounds.

JoeDaddio 08-27-2004 03:45 AM

haha. Buy an acoustic electric. Then you'll get way too much feedback ;)

Try adding a little distortion or overdrive. That usually seems to do it.

joe

PaulR 08-27-2004 05:08 AM

Last week, I screwed up the output jack on my bass.
Then when I was soldering the wires on - I put them on back to front and then discovered that the volume on the bass varied the level of feedback until I either turned it all the way up or all the way down.

Alma 08-27-2004 05:27 AM
