You mean the figures with the natural gasmask faces? I know, it is really mind-blowing when you consider some of the stuff that goes on.

The mask things have to be some of the scariest cartoons ever concieved. The first time I watched it, I just kind of curled up into a tight ball and wimpered for a while. :p

Seems like a good movie. Is it worth getting the actual album first though?

Get both at the same time, if possible. Think of it as two tools for learning the full story. Alone, they are moderately good at telling you what Roger is trying to get across, but together, they are a story telling force to be reckoned with.

I would have to say listen to the album first though.

Is There Anybody Out There? is just as rich, to me at least.

I agree. Goodbye Blue Sky is such a beautiful song, and fun to play on an acoustic.

I love both discs. Disc 1 is more appealing for people who are just listening to the music casually and aren't paying attention to the story. Disc 2 is very musically experimental (Nobody Home, Is There Anybody Out There?, The Trial, etc.), it has more to do with the concept than the music itself, I think, however still great musically. In the Flesh? and The Thin Ice are so cool to open an album with, musically and lyrically. The whole idea of In the Flesh? being about Pink being born and than The Thin Ice being about how Pink is being told that the world may look like a nice place, but there's really just a lot of dissapointment and pain, is just so cool to me. Anyone agree? The whole album is classic.

I've been trying to master some Pink Floyd solos in the past little while. So far I've got Time, Another Brick in the Wall Pt 2, Comfortably Numb (1st solo only), I'm working on the second solo for Comfortably Numb, but it's proving a little more difficult. I've never been too great with picking speed. I think next I'm gonna learn Money.

What are some of your favourite solos? other than the ones I've mentioned. Just so I can get a good idea on any solos I should/could learn next. I just find Gilmour to be a fascinating guitarist, and I love playing his songs, especially his solos.

However, if you are looking for something more epic, you should learn Shine On You Crazy Diamond (all 9 parts), and all 3 solos to Dogs. Master those, and you're the man.

I think one of Gimours most underrated solos is his one in The Gold is in the..... off Obscured by Clouds.

I'd agree. Infact, I overlooked it. It is a VERY good solo, but people can't tell because it blends with the music so well... unless you pay attention.

My favorite guitar work is in Dogs. OBC and TDB also have very strong guitar solos.

Basically, buy DSOTM. This is easily Floyd's most accesible albums.

I really like Gilmour's short solo in Hey You. But basically Dogs and SOYCD are my favorite Gilmour parts.

The Wall - For a great concept album
Wish You Were Here, Animals, Meddle - For great instrumental jams
Piper at the Gates of Dawn, A Saucerful of Secrets, Atom Heart Mother - For exprimental trippy stuff
Obscured By Clouds, More - Film Sound tracks

The Final Cut, The Divison Bell, A Momentary Lapse of Reason- The final cut was the last Pink Floyd album, but its mostly just a Roger Waters solo album, and the other two are the band with out Waters, so save these three for last.

I would also start with DSOTM. That was the first Floyd album I heard, and I was amazed. I wish could hear it for the first time again.

I like the studio album. All of The Narrow Ways are cool, Roger's stuff is weird, but listenable, and from what I remember I liked Rick's songs too. I haven't listened to his or Nick's as much though.

Underrated album would have to be The Division Bell. At least for me, it is. Lyrically, it may not be up to par with Pink Floyd's best stuff, due to the absence of Waters, but insturmentally, every song on there is beautiful, IMO. :D

It's hard to say most underrated song, because there are so many that noone has really heard.(When I say noone, I don't mean the people in this thread, I mean everyone) I think I'd say Have a Cigar, or Young Lust. I have this wierd obsession with both of those tracks. The intro to Have a Cigar is awesome, as well as the solo. I've said it before, but I just love the solo to Young Lust. I find it to be very underrated.

I think Hey You is way overshadowed by Comfortably Numb.

To be honest Hey You never did anything for me. I mean everybody here knows how dedicated of a Pink Floyd fan I am, but eh its a great song, and I never skip it, but I never look forward to it.

I also really like Hey You. I really only like the beginning, though. Near the end, it gets too dark for my liking. :-/ The intro riff is also very good. It's fun to play too.

Hey You and Is There Anybody Out There really do it for me, whatever it is. I love those two tracks, those are the high point of The Wall for me.
