has anyone here heard Anchors Away? they're superb. and they really like Wet Hot American Summer, which is rad.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 11-11-2004 03:51 PM

For so long I ignored how much Give Up The Ghost ruled. (We're Down Till We're Underground stuff, I already liked AN)

capri sun junkie 11-11-2004 03:55 PM

I like AN stuff a little more than GUTG stuff. GUTG stuff still good though.

I used to like AN stuff, and I just didn't like GUTG stuff, but now I like GUTG stuff more than AN.

capri sun junkie 11-11-2004 04:03 PM

I got into that band mostly through GUTG stuff (soulseek), but then I got Background Music, and hearted it. Then after a while got We're Down Till We're Underground, and found I do enjoy it, but enjoy Background Music a little better.

Let's Chop Cats! 11-11-2004 04:15 PM

AN > GUTG

Even AN as a name is better.

capri sun junkie 11-11-2004 04:16 PM

Plus GUTG stuff sounded kind of repetitive for some reason...

A-Life-Less-Plagued 11-11-2004 04:20 PM

I found that AN stuff sounded repetitive...

Let's Chop Cats! 11-11-2004 04:21 PM

Background music is one of the best CD's ever.
Did Bane's singer break edge?
Or did they just stop calling themselves straight edge?

Let's Chop Cats! 11-11-2004 05:27 PM

They never claimed to be a straight edge band, go to http://www.banecentral.com then go to facts and it says their stance on straight edge.

Have you read the lyrics on It All Comes Down To This?

Example: What Makes Us Strong
Reasons not rules Six simple words A wise man sang to me So many years
ago Stood by me through All of life's changes The only advice that I
have to give REASONS NOT RULES MAKE US STRONG

If they wrote this and were not a straight edge band, that's pretty strange.

Let's Chop Cats! 11-11-2004 05:32 PM

It doesn't say they're not edge, just not all of thema re edge and they are not straight edge in the sense of the label.
This doesn't mean that who ever wrote those lyrics in peticular isn't straight edge.

But they do not write songs about straight edge anymore.

Let's Chop Cats! 11-11-2004 05:36 PM

Doesn't mean they aren't edge anymore. They never were a band who mainly sang about straight edge. Edge is just one of the little things they have sung about. Personally I think writing edge songs now is pretty pointless (unless your Casey Jones) because the edge has lost all of it's meaning.

CONNER_NWHC 11-11-2004 05:40 PM

All Casey Jones songs are about being Edge.

Let's Chop Cats! 11-11-2004 05:42 PM

Yes it is.

Hey i stumbled onto this thread after getting some tabs from mxtabs.net and i've just become a member. It is a very interesting and informing read. sorry to sound like i'm reading a formal report or something.

Let's Chop Cats! 11-11-2004 05:58 PM

Haha, It's all good. Aslong as you learn something.

Is most Hardcore in Drop D tuning with guitars?

A-Life-Less-Plagued 11-11-2004 06:02 PM
Is most Hardcore in Drop D tuning with guitars?
Not most of it.

shane italian 11-11-2004 06:02 PM
Is most Hardcore in Drop D tuning with guitars?
Depends on the band or style. Newer bands are starting to just put guitars into drop-d, though.

Let's Chop Cats! 11-11-2004 06:02 PM

No, well more of the newer, metally sounding bands use Drop D. But most original bands used standard tuning. Alot more bands have been using it these days.

CONNER_NWHC 11-11-2004 06:03 PM

Yeah i new that alot of metal bands did.

twenty.five.to.five 11-11-2004 06:04 PM

sorry for posting again kind of, but have you guys heard of Thought Crime? i'm pretty sure they have a purevolume thing set up. I heard them on a comp i bought a while back. I'd recommend 'hope in the proles' and 'monument.' They say they play bi-polar rock but they play a hardcore, defintely some metal influence sound.

Response to noneed66: Not all hardcore is drop-D. but sure, a lot is.

Let's Chop Cats! 11-11-2004 06:20 PM

Post all you want in here aslong as it's relevant/not idiotic.

Can't say I've heard them.

CONNER_NWHC 11-11-2004 07:42 PM

Where can i find Casey Jones Guitar Tabs?

Let's Chop Cats! 11-11-2004 07:44 PM

I put one up on Mxtabs. Other than that there are none. I know how to play like half their album, just to lazy to tab it all out.
