I know of a great deal of depressing music... so here are some artists that come to mind:

S
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9onHbxS3-w
we'd all like to think that we're the pretty one
and we'd all like to think that what we do is better than what everyone else does
and we'd all like to think that we can get the girl
and we'd all like to think that we're the unselfish one

Elliott Smith
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYnNy-ADED4
you say it's a sight that's quite worth seeing
it's just that everyone's interest is stronger than mine
when they clean the street, I'll be the only shit that's left behind
so won't you follow me down to the rose parade

Townes van Zandt
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwR1n0p1V7U
one time, friends, I had a ma, I even had a pa
he beat her with a belt once cause she cried
she told him to take care of me, she headed down to Tennessee
it's easier than just a-waitin' 'round to die

The Pine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkKgobm8nhw
I don't know all the answers
I don't know why my eyes are so sore from thinking over you all last night
can't stop these things from changing
so I don't

Joy Division
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQSpJfpVHmg
your confusion
my illusion
worn like a mask of self-hate
confronts and then dies

Carissa's Wierd
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IldQwYeW_yA
this is all such a big mistake
I'm so lost inside
I cant move on
I swear that I never asked for this

if you are planning on going on a depressive music trip, please check out http://www.last.fm/group/sad, and help our charts, LOL.

Hey there!

1. I went back to my Pelican catalog lately and I was wondering what bands would sound like the song MAMMOTH from their first EP? Especially that song. I believe it to be their best one. For me it was kind of downhill from there... :\

2. Also started becoming a fan of Trap Them and The Secret. Anything else in that vein I should know about? I have all Celeste vinyls too, so not them.

3. Oh, and 'Taking Your Last Chance'. I know it's good for many people to hate that kind of band but I believe those guys make an excellent job with an overused sound. Anything else of that sound that shines above the rest?

Many thanks,
I suggest Battlecross for some intense, pump you up type stuff.
Nobody asked for that.

SynapticPlasticity 11-25-2011 11:27 PM

So I recently listened to Scale the Summit's The Collective. Totally love it. I've also heard Animals as Leaders, their debut album is great as well, can anyone recommend any bands albums similar to these two?

Does it have to be rock/metal?

If not, Dead Can Dance:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJhVM930YXY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjihDvgCQcI

Beautiful music and at times immensely sad. I'd suggest starting with "Within the Realm of a Dying sun"

botb 11-26-2011 12:11 AM

listen to gru - cosmogenesis.
