an accent cymbal.
what is the point of an accent cymbal on a 5 piece set?

Static 02-01-2008 10:07 PM

accenting.

Berk 02-01-2008 10:08 PM

hahaha

bobby__johnny 02-01-2008 10:40 PM

the real question is: why do you think an accent cymbal has no use on a 5pc kit?

Little Android Man 02-01-2008 10:45 PM

because when you have a smaller set, you tend to not have a bunch of stuff that you only use once or twice in one out of every 3 of the songs you play?

Static 02-01-2008 11:27 PM

I use(d) my 14" wuhan a ton.

When I was with the circus, I would have killed for accent cymbals , even though I was rockin' a 4-piece. Then again, that was for a circus. I also had congas (sometimes), bongos, windchimes, a cowbell, ratchet, tambourine, slide whistle, regular whistle, etc. All I had for accent cymbals was a splash, and I guess maybe my 10" hi-hats.

My friend told me he bought it the other day.

It did leak a while ago, though. Are you sure on the Feb 28 release date?

Static 02-02-2008 12:26 AM

it came out on tuesday

Win A Rabbit 02-02-2008 12:43 AM

Okay, so I watched the Mythbusters Plane on Treadmill clip, and that's not how I expected the test to be done at all.

I expected plane staying in place. From what I saw it was just the plane wheels spinning at twice the speed as a normal take-off.

Lame. Not what I was expecting at all.

Berk 02-02-2008 12:57 AM

can you like explain what they were trying to prove?

Chippy569 02-02-2008 01:00 AM

the myth (for those who don't know physics) is that if you run a treadmill backwards at the same speed the plane is going forwards, the plane won't move.

Berk 02-02-2008 01:01 AM

that makes sense

Win A Rabbit 02-02-2008 01:01 AM

 I love reading the messageboards for mythbusters.

"You should do one where the plane is stationary."
"THE MYTH DID NOT SAY THAT THE PLANE WAS STATIONARY. YOURE WRONG"
"THAT IS NOT WHAT THEY WERE TRYING TO DO. YOURE WRONG"
"THAT IS NOT THE MYTH. YOURE WRONG"
"NO THATS NOT WHAT THEY WERE DOING. YOURE WRONG"

The way I interpreted it, and the way a friend told me it was going to be, was that the plane stayed stationary (somehow) and the propeller pushed air back towards the wings, and whether the wind from that could make the plane take off.

I think that would be a good one to test. Figure out a way to keep the plane in place on a treadmill without hindering it's takeoff ability, and see if it would take off then. I would suggest it on mythbusters messageboard, but don't feel like getting yelled at by a bunch of people who are way too proud they "got it right"

Berk 02-02-2008 01:06 AM
