i am the robots 12-13-2005 12:44 PM

Yeah, I know :).

Next MP I'm doing a review for the new EToS .

We have to do an editorial/review, a feature, and a news story, so I've been doing metal albums, my review of Ghost Reveries made last mp's paper.

I was thinking of doing a band review for a school paper but no one likes metal...
I heard about them awhile ago, they are quite awesome. Do you like them at all?

I personally love their style, they are all over the place so it sounds like well placed chaotic music heh.

All of you people should check them out! NOW!
I liked it but their songs are really long and I only had time to listen to one, I'll listen to more today I think.

It's good stuff though, definitely diverse. Tons of influences but it doesn't sound poorly meshed.

So I got 3 albums today for $17, I <3 my local CD shop's sales. You guys wouldn't like most of it though :-\ (and no one ever returns good Metal CDs dammit  )

Same here. That's not gonna stop me though. :thumb:

I want to get on my school's radio station too, just so I can test my friend's theory that people who have never listened to metal will self combust when Dragonforce comes on.

I just applied for a job at my uni radio next sem. I hope I get it :-x

It looks like they allow any type of music really as there's an Indie show, Metal show and Rap show lol. I'll find something good though, maybe Pop-Punk.

Shattered_Future 12-13-2005 02:27 PM

I don't think anybody listens to our radio station anyway.

Lord Abortion 12-13-2005 02:30 PM

I'd like my own radio station.
That would be cool.

"That was Darkthrone with In the shadow of the Horns...Now, it's the Smiths, Still Ill."

People would be like, WTF?

the2stranger 12-13-2005 02:41 PM

Iwould love some job that has to do with metal whether it's working in a cd store or a radio show.

I really want to see it when it's done :)

I'm hoping so.

The plan is to either shoot summer 2006 or spring 2007 and once the movie is done, I'll put it up two ways. The first will be to offer it on my site for download for about $7-8. The DVD will cost about $9-10 plus shipping and have whatever special features I feel like slapping together.

All that's left is Astro-Bio and Art History.

Shadows 12-13-2005 03:41 PM

Dammit, I desperately need to start studying for my exams. Euro history and chemistry are going to rape me. :(

Shattered_Future 12-13-2005 03:48 PM

I don't have mine until January. :D

Gonna do horrible in Chemistry though...simply the most evil subject ever.

Alex, what's your movie gonna be about? I have a feeling you've explained it already somewhere...

A couple pages ago, yeah.

5 friends go up to a cabin for a weekend retreat and slowly come to realize the place used to be the site of occult activity. Good thing, too, because when night falls, the cabin is surrounded by a pack of werewolves who are feeling peckish. Only the wards surrounding the cabin are keeping them out.

But as the night goes on, and the werewolves start coming up with more creative ways to try and get into the cabin, a power struggle erupts between the humans as self-preservation turns into desperation.

I have to agree there.

No matter if you're just studying simple chemistry, it has to be the oddest subject, since it mixes a lot of Calculus, a lot of physics, a lot of bio and a lot of everything, but all mixed up and strange.

Like, wtf is up with differentiating equations for molarity! Ugh.
I finished my video editing final today. It was awesome.
Ooh, excellent! I wrote my thesis statement for my final paper, and finished Part I of my final exam (the second half is an exam in-class, the first part was a free essay on what I think of world politics).

One thing I've learned while at uni is that, as soon as you nail your thesis, the rest of the paper is a cakewalk. If you don't have a solid thesis, you get slammed. But if you have a killer thesis, your paper will rule.

In high school, every single paper I wrote, Honors or not, was divided into three parts: intro/thesis, three-to-five body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Now, it's much more diverse than that, but so far so good. I'm just not happy about having four more finals when my roommates only have two and they're done tomorrow.

Actually, that's not what I'm pissed about. I'm pissed that my last and likely-to-be-my-hardest final is at night on Thursday. I want to get home ASAP, not drive home in the middle of the night, especially when another blizzard is predicted :upset:

What I really hate is when the professors decide that a writer's voice is a bad thing. I always follow the structure assigned, but I never type anything that I wouldn't say out loud. And I refuse to make my paper some sterile, boring scholastic article. I'd pull a Hunter Thompson before I did that.

However, my Qualitative Research Methods professor gave my final paper a C- because I didn't sound boring enough. Because my prose was too engaging. No, I'm not exaggerating. She actually wrote out suggestions for how I should rephrase whole sentences, and her suggestions were things that only Mr. Spock would say.
