Lee, HOW many times have I told you to STFU about that?
I'll STFU about it long after this weekend has passed. |
Old Western Doom Metal.
What on God's green Earth does that mean? Describe it. I'm seeing Trouble later next month. I have several live shows on DVD and VHS and they were always great live. Tonight I'm seeing The Gates of Slumber, Earthride and Witchsorrow. Should be a good do. |
Doom Metal with an old western theme and atmosphere.

When I click on that link it tells me I've tried to hack something and they're going to report me to the feds.
So basically you're saying St Vitus crossed with Sergio Leone? sounds cool! |

The Gates of Slumber were fantastic when I saw them with Reverend Bizarre in October. |
hey i am interested in hearing more of the gates of slumber.
anybody got an album of thiers to upload? |
Check your rep, Roy.
|
I just figured out I can't go the the Trouble show. I'll be on vacation then.
NP: Pagan Altar - Judgement of the dead |
if you want stoner and or doom, join the daily upload, there is sometimes some albums on it, plus I'm planning on uploading some myself, since I got really into the stuff (been to clutch and the sword and witchcraft this week, and monday josiah is coming to my town)
|
Witchcraft are good. I've never really checked out Clutch of the Sword.
|
Whoever wants a link to Forest of Shadows' Departure, let me know. Its really good epic doom.
I uploaded it for the DU, so just wait for it if you are on it. |
that's odd iron bars, Clutch and the sword rocked(especially that evening) but witchcraft sucked in my opinion, I heard good things about them(hadn't heard any music of them though) but live, man...
|
how do you join the daily upload?
i just got Across Tundras album in the mail sounds absoloutely massive and primal, gonna take some getting used to but i heard good things in the first listen! |
just go to the thread and you'll see
|
Any of you guys like Indian? Such a great sludge band, if you guys like Neurosis or Lair of the Minotaur you'll definitely like them. Crushing stuff.
|
Just downloading the new Trouble album. Think it's pretty good so far.
|
I just got back from RoadBurn 2005, it was crushing. Acid King got everybody softend up so Om could drive a buldozer over the audience for Neurosis to sledgehammer everybody over the head and what was left standing was smashed by Black Cobra.
King Buzzo owned the room friday. Big Business/Melvins make a great combo. This was like my Woodstock :D. http://www.roadburn.com I bet you're all jealous. The location of the camping was in a freakin' Safari park. It being organised in Holland meant cheap, readily available, quality weed. Two days of solid bliss. |
man!!!
|
Sounds so good :)
So which band was your favorite? I bet seeing Om was pretty badass. |
Definitely Om. Seeing Cisneros and Hakius in the flesh... too good to be true. They were so very crushing, I almost became their music :D. Acid King was the surprise of the festival for me. I liked them on record but live they were so much better. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. Big Business and the Melvins were far more powerfull than I expected going in and Black Cobra gave far more than I gave 'm credit for.
Pelican was also sweet but I didn't see enough of the gig due to time constraints (only saw the last half hour or something). Next year, three days. :D If we're lucky we'll have a Sleep reunion by then ;). |
Man, that sounds freaking cool.
Are Paradise Lost considered doom metal, or are they more gothic? Whatever they may be, their new album is ace. |
More Goth, I don't like them :(
|

One of my friends claims he read an interview in which they said they didn't rule out the possibility of a reunion.
One can only hope. |

I saw them on that tour as well. This time they were better! I also 'got' Centurion's Ghost for the first time. Every other time I've seen them I just haven't been able to get into them but this time... well I'm a definite convert. Yes, they may have death metal (well almost hardcore) vocals but they have the doom feeling in spades. With the demise of Thee Plague of Gentlemen, could Centurion's Ghost be the heaviest band in the world? It's possible. Witchsorrow were the opening band and they are definitely ones to watch. With bands like Witchsorrow, Lamp of Thoth, CG, The River, Unsilence, Warning etc I reckon the UK has thee best doom scene in the world. Discuss. |
hey i am interested in hearing more of the gates of slumber.
anybody got an album of thiers to upload?
Seriously right, there's no excuse for this. You want to hear them before you buy something - well go on their myspace site. There's about 4 songs there to hear. If you like them then buy an album. You're not ripping off EMI here - you're stealing from a small underground label that relies on the sales of each album to finance the next one. If you can't afford to buy an album, well, I can't afford a Porsche so I'm not going to go and steal one. |
