....
I searched the guys name on google and it said that he was in Notting Hill and some British sitcom.

Other than that, I'm totally with you

Happymeal 12-11-2004 06:30 PM
What band's that by?
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Now I am a believer.

I never knew he was in Notting Hill. He's in Shaun Of The Dead, but I just worship him for Black Books. Best comedy ever.

Edgard Varese wrote amazing, amazing music.

Wanker 12-11-2004 08:37 PM

Good to know. :thumb:

Happymeal 12-11-2004 08:39 PM

Composer? I don't know him:(

Bartender 12-11-2004 08:40 PM

Is that the electronic music guy?

I so still haven't heard anything by him,

Wanker 12-11-2004 08:50 PM

Please culture us with your knowledge, Zappa.

Zappa 12-11-2004 08:54 PM

He's written for several types of ensembles, and also for tape (electronic). Has been credited with the first electronic piece of music, "Poeme Electronique," in the late 50s. He's also written for solo flute, orchestra, percussion ensemble, and chamber groups. Many artists of the 60s listed him as a direct influence on their rock music. His work is loud, percussive, and has a lot of emphasis on timbre and feel, rather than on melodic elements. His complete works are available on a two CD set, or by downloading them from me on Soulseek.

Zappa 12-11-2004 08:56 PM

I have been listening to an old vinyl I found in my mom's collection of his music. I just love it, so I thought I'd drop a little post in here. Not sure why.

Happymeal 12-11-2004 08:56 PM

Bartender, do you know any of these bands?

The Jelly Jam
Liquid Scarlet
Vox Tempus
Ebony Ark
Mindflow
Alias Eye
Elfonia
Mangrove

Just read about them awhile ago, I thought you'd be familiar with some of them.

Nope, don't know any of them actually. What are they like?

The Jelly Jam look interesting though, from the thirty seconds I've known about them.

Well I read most of them off www.progressiveworld.net's cd reviews. They look nifty. I think The Jelly Jam is a side project with John Myung, Ty Tabor and Rod Morgenstein..

I was so :eek::eek: when I saw that. If only my memory wasn't weak I'd post in my nominations.

You deserve to get a higher rank than me;)

edit: to Wanker

Tomahawk 12-11-2004 10:36 PM

ok, I'm confused. What are these rankings for?

Wanker 12-11-2004 10:42 PM

Well, in the nominations thread, the higher up on someone's list a member was, the more points they got.

Only 2 people nominated me, but I got 17 points.
You deserve to get a higher rank than me ;)
Wanker 12-12-2004 12:28 AM

Well MXicans, more specifically those in Alt/Indie, I'm off to bed.

And with this post, I edge out poor Iai in this thread
