Apocalyptic Raids 05-13-2005 06:18 AM

Hopefully we will get to hear Glen Drover record some material with Megadeth.

ThrashMaster27 05-13-2005 06:21 AM
I know in terms of skill, Friedman is the best.
But what I prefer isn't always just skill, I think that SFSGSW has the best solos to date, also the best riffs, it's possibly all Mustaine who does the solos, and if that's the case, more props to him.
Actually, that's a good point. Dave did most of the solos on albums before Marty was introduced into Megadeth. He is really underrated as a Lead Guitarist. I love the solo after the intro on the Conjuring. Yeah, SFSGSW has great riffs, but I still can't go past Rust for the best riffs. Some of them are mindboggling.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-13-2005 06:25 AM

The rhythm guitar on Take No Prisoners is just insane. With Rust In Peace, it was like they turned up the intensity a few notches compared to the 80's material.

ThrashMaster27 05-13-2005 06:27 AM

Yeah! I was thinking that. The Guitar tone is very different aswell.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-13-2005 06:35 AM

Yeah, the guitars were noticably fuzzier on RIP.

Also the songs structures seemed really different, Most of the songs didn't go verse, chorus, verse chorus etc etc. Besides Tornado Of Souls, Rust In Peace... Polaris and the first half of Hanger 18. In fact most of the songs don't even have a chorus!

Yeah, I think pretty much every 'Deth album has at least one song with awesome riffs, lately I've been listenning to 1000 Times Goodbye alot and I love the intro of that song, up until the first chorus and solo following it is awesome, after that, meh, I usually skip it.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-13-2005 08:17 AM

I've been listening to Hook In Mouth heaps in the last couple of days. I love the lyrics.

ThrashMaster27 05-13-2005 08:39 AM

Yeah, the lyrics are pretty good. Nice to see that Dave fought against the PRMC.

VicRattlehead99 05-13-2005 12:01 PM

Great song after a few listens like much of SFSGSW.... those songs I thought all sucked upon first listen, it took multiple listens to appreciate the genius in that album

VicRattlehead99 05-13-2005 01:19 PM

What would you guys say was the most controversial song in megadeth history?
(Atout la monde, Anarchy in the U.K, ect.

MAthiAS 05-13-2005 01:20 PM

Symphony X confirmed for Gigantour!

NICE! i just read that at megadeths site. This is turning out to be one hell of a show. Gigantour > Ozzfest this year.
I think you'd be the only one in this thread to think that. I respect your opinion though, nobody is wrong. I personally think Marty was the best Guitarist in 'Deth. Chris didn't do enough in the band to warrant me picking him....Same with Jeff. Plus, I think Marty is the best talent wise, as he's considered a Guitar Virtuoso, yet didn't even have training.
Yeah Marty is the best.

MAthiAS 05-13-2005 01:56 PM

Marty really amazes me. The man knows no scales or anything like that, yet he's as good as Becker, has awesome phrasing, and has the best knowledge of the fretboard of anybody.

vashts80 05-13-2005 01:59 PM

W00t w00t

Deth/DT/SX/DKL ! :D

He doesnt know any scales?

Thats really odd for someone of his talent on guitar

jesterx 05-13-2005 02:17 PM

anyone else think "dread and the fugitive mind" is an awsome song?

DisposableHeroes 05-13-2005 02:18 PM

I do, and funnily enough that song was stuck in my head as i read your post
Yeah I love that song.
Yeah, he's probably just stubborn. He probably likes Deth but doesn't want to agree with you.

It stopped you from retalliating to something stupid

VicRattlehead99 05-13-2005 03:10 PM

RustedPieces 05-13-2005 03:21 PM
