ATTN Readers: Go read Messiah by Boris Starling.
Why?

Lord Abortion 09-05-2005 06:31 AM
i have 2 days of holidays left Ollie, hahahaha you got on the Committee and have to go back a day early!
Because you're a sodomite, Josh.

I'm eating a pork pie as big as my damn hand.
That makes up for it slightly...

Six Foot Revolver 09-05-2005 06:32 AM
Why?
Because it is the best book I have ever read.

Bartender 09-05-2005 06:41 AM

That seems a pretty good reason. What's it about?

Six Foot Revolver 09-05-2005 06:44 AM

There was a TV programme on it quite recently on the BBC.
A stunning, shocking, wonderfully well written debut reminiscent of James Patterson and one that will catapault Boris Starling to the front rank of thriller writers. London is in the grip of a heatwave: airless days, strange steamy nights and a killer stalking the streets. Wealthy men are being murdered to some mysterious pattern, with no clues left behind, only corpses with silver spoons in place of their tongues...Set against this merciless butcher is DCI Red Metcalfe, an investigator with a celebrated ability to get under the skin and into the minds of the deranged killers he hunts. But as the city swelters and the body count rises, Red's own tortured past begins to turn against him -- and the city is safe for no one. Sometimes, it is said, it takes a killer to catch a killer...The most compelling and suspenseful British thriller to come along in years, and Boris Starling is a startling and powerful talent to watch. Messiah is guaranteed to haunt your dreams...
Lord Abortion 09-05-2005 06:53 AM
I might pick that up. My favourite author is Mark Billingham who writes similar books.
Hm...

Oh, that Messiah. I didn't know it was based on a book/books.
Oh, that Messiah. I didn't know it was based on a book/books.
I didn't actually see the program but they must have changed the story quite some bit because it is a bit unsuitable for TV. Also, they couldn't have followed it up with any other episodes if they followed the plot directly.

Hmm...Ian Rankin isn't all that good, I've found.

I went to look for cheap basses and came back with:
John Williams - Spanish Guitar Music (£3.99)
and Goldfrapp - Black Cherry (£4.99).

Why does this always happen to me? :(

Lord Abortion 09-05-2005 07:47 AM

Consumer whore, my friend, consumer whore

Stoic, you're officially the coolest person ever.

superpeer 09-05-2005 08:04 AM

God, I almost did it.

First question was all verbs and tenses, and you didn't need a lot theoretical knowledge, so I just used my grammatic insight and did great.

The other questions required the knowledge of many grammatical terms, which I didn't study. If I had studied a bit, at all. I would have passed easily. I'm such a fuck up.

*KICKS SELF IN TEETH*

RCA 09-05-2005 08:07 AM

Jelle, what kind of test was it? Language?

superpeer 09-05-2005 08:10 AM

It was a Grammar Exam. University.

It was a resit as well, last time I -stupidly- asked to just give me a zero and I'll do it again. This can be catastrophic though, I wish I had even the tiniest bit of self discipline, unfortunately, I don't.

EDIT: English Grammar

They're one of my top 3 favourite bands ever, I'm the proud owner of the entire Slough Feg discography and I think Mike Scalzi is god

Oh, ouch. :(

Any idea when you find out the results?

Stoic: I never knew you liked them! Did you know Jon Torres used to be in that band? That's how I got to checking them out about a year ago.

Probably in a week or so. It's gonna suck either way if I fail my re-sits, either I do year 1 again, with hardly any classes, which would be a waste of time. Or I take all the courses to the second year, which will be a really heavy year then.

I hope it will be the latter though.

The latter seems better, yes. Well, now you really know to study next time.

You know you have to study but in no way you feel like studying. You would rather sit there and stare at the ceiling than pick up the damned book. And then the worse and most torturing part comes: the guilt for the time you missed and the realization that you would do great if you had studied...
