How could I forget Blackened, one of my favourite songs.
Since its the only song with Newsted's name on it.
Most people get caught up with the difficulty of MOP, but try learning Disposable Heroes or Leper Messiah. Those have some really freaky time signatures.
Leper Messiah is fairly easy I found.. Definately compared to Master of Puppets...
I love playing the sweeping part of LM. It sounds so good and is helping me get better at sweeping.

Hey I just got a crazy idea that might sound really good if it works. I want to try to harmonize that sweeping part in 3rds or 6ths just to find out how it sounds. Just gotta figure out the theory a bit...........:D
Yeah, a mate who wants to start a thrash band with me has this idea of harmonizing sweeps, I dunno any theory so don't know how it will sound, but it's a cool idea nontheless I think.

And yeah, the sweeping solo from Leper Messiah is great for learning with (As is the string skipping in Ktulu imo).

hey 'tallica friends, doesn't always annoy you when some metallica member, album or song gets nominated in some of the polls, there's always a comment(bio) that never says something good about them.
I mean, if you look in the other bios there's always like "this dude high points were..." or a "good and talented"; but if is something related with metallica there's something like " Talented, but nothing great" and then comes like ten reasons of why you shouldn't vote for him.

That's even worst than overating.

W.M.A 11-29-2005 11:20 PM

i take it u just read hetfields bio in the vocalist poll lol

heavy metal kid 11-29-2005 11:24 PM
i take it u just read hetfields bio in the vocalist poll lol
Indeed  , but i really bothers me a lot, same hapenned with the bassist and guitar polls.

metalmilitia101 11-29-2005 11:59 PM
The solo from Ktulu is hard, but MOP is definantly harder. Then again I've only been playing for a little while, but nothing beats practising for at least 2 hours every single day.
you guys may disagree with me, but i think that the ktulu solo is fairly easy. if i practiced my dem guitar more and put all the parts together i could do it, but as it is i'm busy behind my sea of drums. which mop and ktulu are both easy for lol

FlyingPaul_83 11-30-2005 12:09 AM

have you guys read the new article about Master of puppets in Guitar world?

pretty cool article, plus kirk shows you how to pla some of the riffs off of MOP.

Yea, I hate that. When the bassists poll was going on, Cliff's description was like "Cliff burton is an ok bassist, not great, very overrated, there are so many better, many better in this poll, always followed guitar, etc." I mean really, if you are gonna pick every single bad thing about a musician, then every musician has these things. There isn't one musician who is perfect. I mean really, people need to stop bagging metallica. But really, if there was any bigger metal band than metallica, they would all just bash them. Notice how the more Iron Maiden gets popular on these forums, people start bashing bruce. Grrrr. :upset:

Kyle 11-30-2005 02:32 AM

I can see why they do it, these polls are often won by a member of the biggest band and that's not really fair. In this case Hetfield is a great vocalist though and some people in there are really slating him which is equally unfair. In saying that though Thom Yorke has a much better range so I voted for him.

edit: Still looking for medium difficulty Metallica song to play...
what would be a challenging middle ground song to learn by Metallica, I can play Unforgiven, Motorbreath but not alot more metallica except riffs. Anyone help me out?
what are they?

Lord of Sword 11-30-2005 11:24 AM

as the name - major metallica - suggests, metallica songs played in the major key, as opposed to minor in the originals. only 4 of them on the site though

Okay. I'll have to check them out later

Jev 11-30-2005 11:48 AM

Yeah I'll check 'em out later too.

lightningmetal666 11-30-2005 01:06 PM

Whoa, FTB played in a major key?

I dunno, I always thought that playing their stuff in minor keys sound much better.

I'll check it out later.

PepsiMetal 11-30-2005 01:13 PM

There isn't FTB on that page. I listened to one. Sounded good but weird. The guy's vocals were a bit too much. :p

lightningmetal666 11-30-2005 01:15 PM

Oh good. I was a little worried there because fade to black sounds awesome in a minor key and it would defeat the purpose of the song if it was written in a major key. (sad and depressing)

Joe 11-30-2005 01:48 PM

In a major key? That's bad...

So I finally decided that Fade to Black is their best solo. Now I decided that a long time ago but I was thinking that it really is the best constructed and his only long solo that was designed like one solo and not a few different ones smashed into one lead.
Oh good. I was a little worried there because fade to black sounds awesome in a minor key and it would defeat the purpose of the song if it was written in a major key. (sad and depressing)
Exactly. It should be minor and flatted, like it is live.

Sadbutrue16 11-30-2005 01:50 PM

heh the music is wierd but good but this guy cant sing metallica....let alone speak english.

They play it flatted? That's news to me.

I get to do a show on Friday doing this song. I get to play rhythm guitar as my leads aren't that good and our other guitarist plays the leads alot better.

My show is gonna be so rockin'. I'm stoked beyond words.:D
