Blues Brothers also have Donald "Duck" Dunn and Steve Cropper of Booker T. and the MGs.

I just bought Freedom by Neil Young.
I never knew they were in Booker T. and the MGs. Actually I don't know anything about Booker T. and the MGs. Anyone want to suggest an album to get?

Oh yeah, I forgot about this, but it's really cool. At like 10 in the morning, I sat down for breakfast, and my mom told me there was an article about Bob Dylan in the NY Times. There was a great article on No Direction Home. It sounds awesome. It was a long article. The DVD comes out September 20th, 2 days before my birthday :D

Most of the movie is based on the '65 and '66 electric tours, but there are clips of early folk performances too. The soundtrack, The Bootleg Series Vol. 7 came out today and is 2 discs, 28 songs, 26 of which are unreleased material, like alternate or live versions of his songs. The two previously released songs are Like A Rolling Stone and Ballad of a Thin Man off of the bootleg series volume 4.

It's better than Estimated Prophet.

Badmoon 08-30-2005 04:03 PM

Nah, but that still wouldn't be saying much.

Broken Arrow 08-30-2005 04:07 PM

It's better than "Touch of Grey".

I saw One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest like 5 years ago. I remember it was pretty goo, but not great. I was a little disappointed. That was a long time ago though, so I'll give it another chance. Haven't listened to the Beck bootleg.

You should, it's an excellent film. I've tried reading the book, but never really got into it.

I'm reading Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo right now.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-30-2005 04:39 PM

I think it's the greatest movie of all time. I haven't tried reading the book yet.

Anyone got any good bootlegs that haven't been posted in here yet?? I listened to The Who bootleg, pretty good. It's prolly too late to try the Beck bootlegs... I'll see. I kinda want some bootlegs for pretty much any classic rock band. I <3 bootlegs  This bootleg post is definitely not an attempt to say bootleg as many times as possible. Bootleg. :smoke:

I've never been more excited about anything in my life than this Bob Dylan movie. I think it's going to be sooo amazing, especially if a lot of it is based in his mid sixties days...I wonder how much explicit drug use they will show, because basically all he did in those years was smoke drugs and write and perform folk songs.

At the library today I got an American Roots CD, it goes through every genre that is important to American roots music, theres a lot of different types of country music, bluegrass, different types of blues, folk, cajun music and some zydeco. It's pretty cool, I haven't listened to it all yet. I also got a Joni Mitchell album and a Newkirk and Bell album. As well as a self hypnosis book, which is supposed to be a more powerful version of meditation, and a Hemingway book.

Glitterati 08-30-2005 05:02 PM

Joni Mitchell is cool.

jpj, im upping some of your stuff in alt/indie too.

JonG 08-30-2005 06:13 PM

Dead - From The Mars Hotel
Dead - Dead Set
Dead - Wake of the Flood
Dead - Built To Last
ABB - An Evening With The Allmans

PinkFreud 08-30-2005 06:18 PM

oh wonderful

Badmoon 08-30-2005 06:22 PM

Don't upload every Dead album you have; you'll regret it later.

Someone upload Bob Marley & The Wailers - Burnin'...and then give me the link, so I can claim it as my own.

Freud, give Buzz or Howl and Goat (If I can even find the files) some time; for your wait I'll likely upload another you recommended.

JonG 08-30-2005 06:25 PM

I'm not, I'm sending to somebody, might as well give it to the CR thread.
