Have any of you ever caught yourself listening to Bjork?
I just was. I think she's cool.

BludgeonySteve 08-29-2005 09:40 PM
They're actually called King Crimson. Their masterpiece album is called In the Court of the Crimson King, check it out.

:)
I remember that I used to think that they were cheesy. Now I love them (or atleast that one album that i've heard). It's amazing how easily my opinion is changed.
Hey fellow rockers, I'm kinda new to this thread (i.e. have posted in it like twice)
I like a lot of the more "mainstream" classic rock bands, but I'd like to hear some other ones that aren't as popular. I saw sometime on this thread a band called The Crimson King, I'll check them out. Any other suggestions?

EDIT: magicbus changed his avatar while I was posting :amaze: I must be blessed or something to witness such an event :D
Yea I decided to go with Schyma on this one.

/listening to bootleg now. amzing lol2

BigTrav415 08-29-2005 09:46 PM

Thanks. Any other good bands? I remember reading the name of the album and just thinking the band was The Crimson King,

Yeah, you're the Syd Barrett virtuoso who told me I knew what I was talking about about him that time. I felt loved :)

BludgeonySteve 08-29-2005 09:53 PM

Syd Barret was so crazy :). His lyrics rarely made sense and his guitar playing was very simplistic and kind of boring, but somehow how rocked anyways.

I (kinda) know what you're talking about. I get the same feeling from Neil Young songs sometimes, too.

Yeah...definitely a unique guy.

Can you let me know how the DVD is? I want to get it, but I want to make sure it has good concert footage.

You guys are missing out :upset:

BludgeonySteve 08-29-2005 10:24 PM

Ok, i'm listening to the Jeff Beck stuff :). Good stuff.

Broken Arrow 08-29-2005 10:24 PM

Um, if, your looking for concert footage I'd get a different DVD before this one because its all in black and white. There is some footage from various other concerts in colour though. The cool thing is that they have a bunch of interviews and stuff in it.

PinkFreud 08-29-2005 11:20 PM

yeah, the story was that wonder wrote the song originally for beck but his record label heard it and demanded that he do it himself. so he did and wrote beck "cause weve ended as lovers" instead.

Nice list of bands. And thanks for the bootleg :). If I can play it, I will. You people and your hunder MB or so bootlegs. It takes forever to load.

PinkFreud 08-30-2005 10:26 AM

bootlegs are always huge because theyre in flac until someone converts them. so a good sized 2 disc bootleg is usually like 800 mb.

had my first college class today. fun.
Welcome to mx/the CR thread to the new person. Since we were talking about Stevie Wonder briefly, I think I should point out how implausibly talented he is. His music would be pretty exceptional if he wasn't blind, but given that he's blind, I can't actually comprehend how he makes music of as much skill and complexity that he does. Anyone that doesn't own Songs In The Key Of Life really needs a copy, as it's one of the most life-affirming albums that I've ever heard. His other stuff is good, but that's clearly his best.
Stevie Wonder is the man, I have recently discovered his work.

CaptainWaits 08-30-2005 10:49 AM

I have a question. Is Neil Young's "Rust Never Sleeps" a studio or live album?? Cause in a few tracks it's noticable that they were recorded live.

MBS 08-30-2005 10:52 AM

Umm that's hard to explain.

It's like a studio album, but technically it's a live album since it was recorded live.

I don't know, it's confusing.

thickasabrick 08-30-2005 12:39 PM
Syd Barret was so crazy :). His lyrics rarely made sense and his guitar playing was very simplistic and kind of boring, but somehow how rocked anyways.
His guitar playing wasn't (always) that simplistic, nor boring. His lyrics could sometimes make no sense, but I think to him everything meant something....our minds just can't always work on the same level his did.

Welcome to the Classic Rock thread, WelcomeToTheMachine! You will probably find your stay here very pleasurable....in music related ways. Whats your favourite Pink Floyd album? I find it hard to say, but I think I have listened to Dark Side of the Moon and Saucerful of Secrets more than every other album on earth combined.

BludgeonySteve 08-30-2005 12:45 PM

Animals for me. Yep yep :)

I was a Dark Side of the Moon junkie for a while, but now I'm off that album. But it's looking pretty good again. Should I take another hit?

Welcome. Yay for the bootleg, I'm looking forward to hearing that.

I can't stop listening to George Harrison right now. I think I listen to All Things Must Pass like everyday. I'm reviewing right now actually. It's such an awesome album, I need more of his solo stuff.

Anyway, I saw the movie Blues Brothers last night. That movie is so awesome. Hilarious, I want the Blues Brothers cd now. Awesome car chases too.

The cast was great, John Belushi, Dan Akroyd, John Candy, Carrie Fischer, Cab Calloway, James Brown, John Lee Hooker, Aretha Franklin, and Ray Charles.

And Frank Oz. He was the guy that gave Jake's stuff back to him when he was leaving prison. This, though, was not his most famous role, he gained fame by making the voices for Yoda and Miss Piggy. His son goes to my school

I love that movie as much if not more than Wayne's World

Blues Brothers also have Donald "Duck" Dunn and Steve Cropper of Booker T. and the MGs.

I just bought Freedom by Neil Young.
