 WHAT?

Six Foot Revolver 09-21-2005 03:09 PM
Most of the time, I'm joking. I think everyone here understands that, to a certain degree... which I definitely appreciate, because I've basically been shunned out of R&M by a certain Anti-Jom committee.
When was this Anti-Jom committee and am I going to get hanged for being a Jomamaniac? :upset:

At the moment...

FOB
F4AF
Co & Ca
BoySetsFire
Thursday
Thrice
Scary Kids Scaring Kids

Understanding In a Crash 09-21-2005 03:13 PM

I think Co&Ca new album is a harder listen then the other albums they have out right now. I enjoy it but it's hard around the edges and probably needs time to grow.

I thought the 1st and 2nd were good stuff but alot of the songs on the new album are very "ambient" and vast. Technicality SEXUALITY though.

The album also seems alot softer then past.

Try A change of Pace, Anberlin, Finch, The Bars, Strung Out, Anatomy of a Ghost and Monday in London. I don't guarantee you'll like any, but I think at least some will appeal to you based on that.

Explicit Lyrics
Violent Content. :thumb:

Jom 09-21-2005 03:22 PM

Drove downtown in the rain... 9:30 on a Tuesday night... just to check out the late-night record shop. Call it impulsive, you can call it compulsive, you can call it insane.

When I'm surrounded, I just can't stop.

It's a matter of instisnct, it's a matter of conditioning, it's a matter of fact.

You can call me Pavlov's dog. Ring a bell, and I'll salivate... how'd you like that?

Dr. Landley, tell me you're not just a pedagogue...

I find it funny that Violent Content in music is something included in a PA sticker.

Jom 09-21-2005 03:26 PM

So I'm lying here, just staring at the ceiling tiles... and I'm thinking about what to think about... just listening and relistening to Smiley Smile, and I'm wondering if this is some kind of creative drought.

And if you want to find me, I'll be out in the sandbox wondering where the hell all the love has gone, playing my guitar and building castles in the sun and singing "Fun, Fun, Fun."

What kind of rap/hip-hop are you looking for, exactly?

Bassy stuff. Modern day Rap is fine as long as lyrics are somewhat bareable and its not grunting every 5 seconds :thumb:

Jom 09-21-2005 04:52 PM

Give me your e-mail address, and I'd be more than happy to send you a sampler of things for you to try.

Alternatively, if you don't want to post your e-mail on here, then just e-mail me first:

I'll get to work on it tonight, and I'll probably send the samplers later on.

And by sampler, I mean whole artist folders, because I'm too lazy to pick and choose :p

Permanent Solution 09-21-2005 05:28 PM

Why pluck one string when you can strum the guitar?
Strum the guitar!
With no beginning, with no end
Take down a guitar and strum the guitar if you're afraid,
And I'm afraid and everyone's afraid
And everyone knows it but we don't have to be afraid anymore
You played the flute but no one was dancing
You sang a sad song and no one was crying

I think I'm gonna go nap kids.

/should be doing homework but cant find the right answers.

Jom 09-21-2005 05:39 PM

Okay, this is tentatively what I'm going to send you, it depends on how much my connection craps out on me:

Atmosphere material (one full album plus various other singles/good songs): ~113MB
Deltron 3030 - s/t - ~58MB
Benefit - Super Mario Bros. Rap - 2.8MB (just because it's funny)
Black-Eyed Peas - Elephunk (shut up, I like them): ~55MB
Cypress Hill - ~10MB sampler
Gorillaz - s/t - ~58MB
John Cena and Tha Trademarc - quick sampler - no more than 20MB, I think
Jurassic 5 - artist sampler, ~62MB
Kottonmouth Kings artist sampler ~90MB
Miestro song, 2.5MB

Subject to change, of course, based on what my connection holds.

Mute Print 09-21-2005 05:40 PM

Haha, John Cena...

I meant to download his CD just to see what it's like. I'm not into rap, but I think it would be amusing.

Untitled 09-21-2005 05:43 PM

Would you say Gorillaz was rap? Ialways thaught it more of alternative.
