I still really badly want to see them live, I just never really listen to the albums that much, I never worked out why. In saying that I'm loving S+M since I bought it properlly.

draintheblood 11-27-2005 02:16 PM
You do realise hardly any of us love every single thing Metallica do?
I don't see how anyone could. Some of the stuff is so different, you either like the new stuff or you like the old stuff. I like most everything before the Black album, and after that...

Yeah, you've basically described most of the people who post in here with the last sentence. Although I love Garage Inc and S&M.

I know some pretty big Metallica fans, but that's just sad.
I quit posting in this thread, it's turned to **** with the influx of "OMG LOVE METALLICA OR DONT POST HERE OMGOMGOMG."
Well when you learn that best doesn't exist and it's subjective, come back. Otherwise, you can stay out of this thread.

Anyways, that interview was pretty interesting, too short though. Kirk said he wants to dedicate his all music stuff to metallica, and not go solo. In other words, if he does have a side project, James will be pissed off. It sounds like Kirk is ready to bring the solos back to the next album.

vashts80 11-27-2005 02:38 PM

HAY I AM BACK BECAUSE METALLICA IS NOT THE BEST LOLZ

k. People need to stop riding Metallica so much. Thanks.

PepsiMetal 11-27-2005 02:43 PM

Ok, tell me which band do you think is the best? lol

I think it would be a great experience to listen to what Kirk could do on a solo album. I don't care if it's completely different than Metallica, just him playing by himself withouth the band would be great to hear. I am not sure what his influence is, but I hope it wouldn't turn out to be an odd country sound.

Best is subjective, and that's why for me it changes every day or two. However, I'm feeling arrogant, so I'll say Cynic.

So how can metallica not be someone's best band if it's subjective?

vashts80 11-27-2005 02:57 PM

There's a difference between best based on opinion (as in favorite) and best based on technical skill (as in technical skill). I don't care if your favorite band is Metallica, Nirvana, or fuckin' 50 Cent, however based on technical skill there are many more bands out there that are better than Metallica. Cynic, Atheist, Rush, Death, Necrophagist, just to name a few.

PepsiMetal 11-27-2005 03:39 PM

You do understand that technicality doesn't mean much in music. A band who is the most technical may very well not be the best sounding band. Who listens to a band for technicality? Most people listen to music by how it sounds, not by how technical or how hard it is to play a riff. I don't even see the reason to judge bands by technicality, as it doesn't mean much. So again, sounding-wise, RTL is best thrash metal album.

vashts80 11-27-2005 05:07 PM

Somebody else brought in technical skill when he said MoP >>>>>>>>>> most metal today

Quickdrop 11-27-2005 05:15 PM
Somebody else brought in technical skill when he said MoP >>>>>>>>>> most metal today
My thoughts exactly. The only new-age metal band i really like is Soilwork.

vashts80 11-27-2005 05:18 PM

Nile, Strapping Young Lad, Sonata Arctica, Nevermore, Opeth, Dillenger Escape Plan..any of these bands ring any bells?

He didn't say technically. You brought technicality into this discussion.

vashts80 11-27-2005 05:28 PM

By saying "MoP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Almost all other metal" obviously he was going for technical skill, which is quite a naive association.

Quickdrop 11-27-2005 05:28 PM

i've heard so much about Opeth, but havnt really actually heard the music. Anybody wanna recommend or upload a few songs?

vashts80 11-27-2005 05:31 PM

Anything off Blackwater Park, My Arms Your Hearse, or Morningrise. Advent, The Drapery Falls, Blackwater Park, Leper Affinity (try and get the Lamentations version, it's twice as far as the album)

PepsiMetal 11-27-2005 05:32 PM
By saying "MoP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Almost all other metal" obviously he was going for technical skill, which is quite a naive association.
What are you talking about? Usually when people say something is better than something else, they're talking about how it sounds. That's why you have to add term technically to make sense. So no, obviously he wasn't talking about technicality, for whatever reason it made you think that. Those multiple >>> mean alot better. Not technicality.

vashts80 11-27-2005 05:34 PM

This is like arguing Kirk Hammett vs. Dave Mustaine. Oops! I shouldn't have brought that one up.

This thread is full of babbling idiots. Good game.

PepsiMetal 11-27-2005 05:37 PM

What a come back answer. Obviously when you see you've nothing to backup your junk, you change topics. Nice going.

What's Kirk Hammett vs. Dave Mustaine supposed to mean? Kirk Hammett is in a bigger metal band? I hate when people bag on guitarists for no reasons. I like both guitarists and I'm not gonna BS on mustaine just because you have no clue what you're saying.

vashts80 11-27-2005 05:40 PM

Kirk Hammett vs. Dave Mustaine. Mustaine is a better guitarist than Hammett, but all the little fanboys drool over Hammet's wah skills.

I'm tired of arguing a moot point with babbeling idiots, when I've made my proclivities known, and considering most of what I've said is indeed fact (such as, Master of Puppets not being an essential metal album, and there being many bands out there more skiller than Metallica), I'm bored of the arguements. It's like arguing that Cliff Burton was a God-like bassist, because he wasn't; but I won't bring that one up because it'll get everybodys' panties up in a bunch again

According to my last psyche evalutation, yes, I am crazy. Problem?
