it sounds like it shouldn't work

IgniteYourAvail 02-01-2010 01:15 PM
yeh the term is shady I know but so is "emo violence" and "screamo" itself ("emo", "hardcore", "punk" and "rock" aren't much better either). doesn't make the music less awesome.
I don't think he was talking about the label, which you love talking about. He meant the idea of acoustic screamo.

christsimpson 02-01-2010 01:22 PM

then why did he write screamo in between ""s?

also I do believe flesh is more than capable of answering for himself.

IgniteYourAvail 02-01-2010 01:23 PM

I dunno, man.

iamrockzorz 02-01-2010 01:36 PM

I reset my last.fm account. Indietrash, our musical compatibility is now LOW.

RetiredAt21 02-01-2010 01:55 PM

Acoustic screamo is a retarded concept, no two ways about it really.

flesh 02-01-2010 02:57 PM
then why did he write screamo in between ""s?

both the idea and term described are ****ing stupid beyond explanation

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 03:13 PM

Hey Martin: it's 2010, the genre has been called "screamo" for a while. You're not going to suddenly be cooler by telling everyone it's a dumb term. Nobody cares about your outdated elitist terminology that died out for the most part in 2003.

christsimpson 02-01-2010 03:13 PM
I reset my last.fm account. Indietrash, our musical compatibility is now LOW.
is that supposed to mean that I have bad music taste or something? what?
Acoustic screamo is a retarded concept, no two ways about it really.
why? what's more retarded about screaming your lungs out whilst hammering an acoustic guitar versus screaming your lungs out whilst hammering an electric guitar?
both the idea and term described are ****ing stupid beyond explanation
and electric screamo isn't?

HighandDriving 02-01-2010 03:37 PM

Acoustic screamo kinda reminds me of Funeral Diner's cover of Deeper Than Inside, even though the song is just not Voxs and guitars it still using it's fair share of acoustic guitars.

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 03:40 PM

Acoustic screamo: saying a screamo band uses acoustic guitars, NOT A STUPID DESCRIPTION, it's an apt description.

flesh 02-01-2010 03:48 PM

its a terrible concept

christsimpson 02-01-2010 03:51 PM
its a terrible concept
what makes it terrible? that's a nonsensical statement, seeing as how you don't even try to justify it in any way. you just say that it's terrible. why is it terrible? what makes acoustic guitars terrible and electric guitars not terrible?

flesh 02-01-2010 03:56 PM

"screamo" or what i like to simply just call emo, is hardcore/punk music which is supposed to be intense with a live electric band. you take away a lot of that, if not all when you strip it down to some douche in a cardigan screaming over plucked acoustic chords. what difference does that have to any acoustic music besides the (most likely) annoying vocals?

HighandDriving 02-01-2010 03:58 PM

Try listening to some acoustic grind.

flesh 02-01-2010 03:59 PM

nah, i prefer melodramatic german pop songs with screaming over it. the emotion gives me goosebumps.

cobert 02-01-2010 04:02 PM

acoustic screamo sounds stupid

do not want

Gnarmageddon 02-01-2010 04:02 PM

pat the bunny is the closest thing to "acoustic screamo" that i'll listen to

dude's got some lungs

christsimpson 02-01-2010 04:08 PM

aha. you are one of the guys who think rogue folk is stupid too, I reckon. never mind. no one will force you to listen to it.

by the way I find it at least a little bit silly for all of you to condemn it without even trying it on for size.

flesh 02-01-2010 04:14 PM

You know why people call some things emo and other things screamo?

Because **** like Orchid and Jeromes Dream and Neil Perry etc. etc. etc. etc. doesn't sound like **** like Evergreen and Chune and what not.

It's called screamo so that people who are looking for more music in that vein can find more music in that vein.

You know, like how people don't just call emo hardcore? (because a lot of it doesn't sound like hardcore anymore, and go figure same goes for a lot of screamo pertaining to emo).

Or like punk rock as opposed to folk rock? Or thrash metal as opposed to power metal?

Stop trying so hard to prove how knowledgeable you are because you're arguing the semantics of something nobody cares about.

flesh 02-01-2010 04:29 PM

i think the majority of us in this forum agreed about 3 or 4 years ago to just collectively call it "emo". hence why this is the emo community thread and not the emo/screamo thread anymore.

christsimpson 02-01-2010 04:46 PM
what the **** is rogue folk?!?!?!
you might know it as folk punk?

Cool story bro, argue about something stupid some more.

flesh 02-01-2010 04:58 PM

you brought it up

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 05:12 PM

What? You started the argument with indietrash. I was just pointing out how fucking stupid said argument is.

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 05:17 PM

Jesus Christ, you and indietrash are two of the slowest people I have ever come across on the internet. I don't even get it.

NortherlyNanook 02-01-2010 05:53 PM

idk i just call it SKRAMZ

accoustic screamo sounds pretty bad though

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 05:56 PM

It def does, but it's not a bad description by any means.

Die Emperor! Die! is one of the worst skramz bands I've ever heard.

iamrockzorz 02-01-2010 06:06 PM
is that supposed to mean that I have bad music taste or something? what?
Hahaha no. That's subjectivity my friend. But it used to be very high. All I've been listening to lately is that lo-fi hardcore **** though.
