Does anyone know anything about recording? If a place says as an estimate it usually takes 1 hour for 1 minute of music, does that include mixing?

I found this great studio for 25 an hour but I have to book it by tonight because as of tomorrow, their rates are $40 an hour.

I don't know if it includes mixing, but recording can be a pain in the ***. If you're willing to wait I'd look for someone who has like a 4 track demo package or something, that way you don't have to worry about wasting time.

They're all mastered too, but we're not finding anything better then that for $25 an hour.

if i were you, i'd record it yourself, it's way easier, less frustrating, and faster

just get like a digital four track or even like eight or twelve track if you can afford it, and download a production program off the internet or something

that way you'll probably spend as much money as you would making a studio demo, and you can make all of your demos on that equipment

i guess you'd need some recording experience though to know how everything works


edit: if you dont' have mics and stuff than this will be difficult/ hmm.

But yeah, we don't have a lot of money to drop and so thats why I was asking. If it includes mixing it would be around $250 which is definately managable.

If that rate includes mixing I'd say go for it and just practice the s[size=2]h[/size]it out of your songs before hand to keep costs down.

Recording yourself can be bad if you don't know anyone who can mix well, and there is a deffinite sound difference if you're forced to use not top quality mics.

Mastering is a separate cost a lot of the time (I think).

Yeah, we have a couple dudes who would come out and record us for like 30 or 40 bucks but the quality isn't that great so if we don't use it its pretty much a waste of everyone's time.

Mastering is a different cost and we probably wouldn't master it as it costs a lot and its just a demo.

My band is going to record at some place in Center City sometime soon. My mom's friend's son when to school for recording and he's going to hook us up.

Any idea of the name of the place? Today is the last day to book at the studio I posted for $25 an hour so hopefully they see my email and let us do it for that price. Anything booked as of tomorrow is $40 an hour which is too much for us. We will probably get it sent to West West Side to get mastered for something like $115, we want it to sound as good as possible.
