does anyone have a real explanation

I would just get Sonnenheim. I think it is his most cohesive, mature album. His past works are a bit harder to get into imo.

The ": :" around their names corresponds to punctuation used in runic texts. I believe they're used much like we use periods. Not sure, have to look it up.

Destroy All Girls 12-22-2010 07:41 PM

oic I thought it was a just a look how post-industrial we are cliché to name yourself that way

that might make sense though

RouteOne 12-22-2010 07:45 PM

Yeah I suppose the ":" was used to separate words so sentences didn't seem like one long line of runes.

Tyler 12-22-2010 09:12 PM

Destroy All Girls 12-23-2010 06:03 AM

it all sort of overlaps into one big blur

should have put post-punk in the title somewhere I guess

Destroy All Girls 12-23-2010 07:00 AM

argh why does Total War have the best percussion sounds ever

that bass drum kicks me in the cunt

RouteOne 12-23-2010 10:28 AM

idk Chris you never really trolled me that much and I really only banned you once I think.
it all sort of overlaps into one big blur
I'm really not sure it does. Some of the scenes do, but just because one artist used to play industrial and now plays neo-folk doesn't really mean both genres are anything alike musically. It's all good though, the thread works how it is even though I refuse to acknowledge there being a 'Power Electronics' genre.

Aakon_Keetreh 12-23-2010 01:46 PM

of course power electronics is a genre.

Tyler 12-23-2010 01:48 PM

oh you've convinced me!

emilyyy 12-23-2010 01:49 PM

power electronics is noise
isnt a real genre

Aakon_Keetreh 12-23-2010 01:55 PM
power electronics is noise

got really high last night passed out and woke up listening to the not so soothing sounds of Douglas P.'s latest album

Chris would be proud

If you listen to the earliest albums by Current 93, Death In June, Sol Invictus etc. you'll begin to see what I mean. What came slightly after is probably neofolk in it's true essence nowadays they've lost a lot of the vital experimentation and settled for something that really isn't that much different from traditional folk music (some give it tags such as dark folk, or "apocalyptic folk" even).

Whether or not one considers dicking around with analogue electronics to explore harsh sound frequencies music it is most definitely a genre with a hierarchy of artists and a history just like any other.

Smokey the Terrible 12-23-2010 07:11 PM
goddamn it Chris why do you have to namedrop every EBM group I listened to one album by and wrote off as awful
because a thorough evaluation will turn out better

did you like Third World War

a lot of these groups have wide-spanning careers

take Skinny Puppy for example

if I listened to anything from post-1992 or so and nothing but I'd conclude they were shit

similar with X-Marks the Pedwalk although their good period was longer

mutatis mutandis Evils Toy
