I'm too hungover to read that.

Opeth sucks
no worries, I'm sure it'll pop up again. It's something I wrote a few years ago and I use it whenever some Opeth kid gets his feelings hurt and starts to cry.

Elim: thanks for the rep.

Dimmu Burger 08-10-2007 03:15 PM
I will not bother explaining why Opeth suck. If you believe that Opeth do anything other than suck massive donkey cõcks, you are too stupid to reason with, so I will not waste my time trying to convince you. If you are aware of the black hole of suckery that is Opeth, then you may be curious as to why anyone would ever like Opeth. Allow me to enlighten you.

Opeth fans are deluded into believing that Opeth is “deep”. This is generally because they are stupid enough to believe that any band which uses both distorted and acoustic guitars is “original”. They are also stupid enough to believe that a band which is too lazy to properly transition between acoustic and distorted and instead opts to record acoustic and distorted tracks separately and then randomly splice them back together is “groundbreaking”. Combine this with the fact that all Opeth songs are approximately 3 hours long (i.e. “epic” to your standard malldwelling Opeth fanboy) and Opeth are both “original”, “groundbreaking”, and “epic”. In the tiny vocabulary of an Opeth fan, the only word capable of describing something simultaneously “original”, “groundbreaking”, and “epic” is “deep”. A better description of Opeth would be “the soundtrack to a mallgoth’s life”.

Some Opeth fans also believe that Opeth is “heavy” or “intense”. My äss. No, literally. My äss. I’ve had diarrhea that’s more intense than Opeth. And the noises I heard that time were more interesting than anything Opeth have ever come up with.

In short, people like Opeth because they are stupid, and because of the clever marketing skills of Jewish record executives. I must admit, though, Opeth can come in handy during theology debates. The fact that Opeth exists is proof that THERE IS NO GOD.
While I still like Opeth, that was very well said.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 03:19 PM

Opeth is decent.

LOL.

Even though I like Opeth a little (What I've heard from them), I still think this is hilarious. Well said.

Necrovore 08-10-2007 03:26 PM

Opeth are probably the most boring band to ever exist.

Dimmu Burger 08-10-2007 03:27 PM
Opeth are probably the most boring band to ever exist.
Nah dude. Sunn O))).

repcak 08-10-2007 03:30 PM

i can understand why Dargon don't like Opeth, but i still like them... i don't worship them. tbh. i stopped worshipping any band :p

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 03:31 PM

Anyone like Pierced From Within by Suffocation? ANyone like Suffocation in general? I don't recall ever seeing them as a topic of discussion.

Angmar 08-10-2007 03:34 PM

I love Opeth, and don't care what anyone else thinks, but anyways havn't heard that HBP.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 03:35 PM

Ahh dude. You must hear it. You gonna be on tonight?

EDIT: Nevermind.

UpperDecker 08-10-2007 03:46 PM
Anyone like Pierced From Within by Suffocation? ANyone like Suffocation in general? I don't recall ever seeing them as a topic of discussion.
Yea, thats my fav. album by them and they're probly my favorite death metal band.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 03:46 PM

Nowhere near my favorite dm band, but they are very good. PfW is great.

Stoic 08-10-2007 04:12 PM

(random)
Dargon remember a long time ago when you had made a thread bashing some bands (including opeth of course :D)? Had you bashed Dream Theater as well? ^_^

RetiredAt21 08-10-2007 04:54 PM

Dream Theater is gay as hell.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 05:16 PM

They are boring.

I recently aquired Pierced From Within from my brother in law. Its decent stuff, and I really like Human Waste.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 06:04 PM

I have both, they are both good.

Dimmu Burger 08-10-2007 06:09 PM
I have both, they are both good.
I couldn't get into the new one though.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 06:10 PM

The new one was not so hot. Bands that make awesome dm in the 80's and 90's, then go on to release albums later are usually not too great.
The new one was not so hot. Bands that make awesome dm in the 80's and 90's, then go on to release albums later are usually not too great.
That seems to be the routine.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 06:12 PM

I.e. Suffocation, Cryptopsy,(not dm, but same theme) Darkthrone, etc.

Angmar 08-10-2007 06:13 PM

I'm thinking the new Obituary is their best since Cause of Death to be quite honest.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 06:15 PM

CoD was so goooood, though.

Angmar 08-10-2007 06:16 PM

It is still better, I just think this owns anything else they did after CoD.

masscows 08-10-2007 08:04 PM
I couldn't get into the new one though.
the first 3 songs on the new one are good, the rest pretty much feel like a bad suffocation imitation. But no, that's actually suffo coming out of your speakers :(

Bind Torture Kill is pretty awesome.
I.e. Suffocation, Cryptopsy,(not dm, but same theme) Darkthrone, etc.
darkthrone is pretty much making parody records now, i dont think theyre really taking it that seriously.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 08:07 PM

Anyone like Massacre? I'm putting my finishing touches on my review for From Beyond if anyone wants to check it out when I post it.

masscows 08-10-2007 08:10 PM

how long do you usually take to write reviews?

and massacre is a band I haven't really checked out yet.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 08:11 PM

Usually an hour or more. No more than 2 hours. Definatly check out Massacre. They are classic.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 08:28 PM

It's up. Check it out guys!

Tyler 08-10-2007 08:29 PM

I just find these reviews insincere man, you've only been listening to this kind of old school death metal for like two weeks.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 08:33 PM

well Coke, try a year and you're correct.

Eliminator 08-10-2007 08:37 PM

haha

Tyler 08-10-2007 08:38 PM

See but I don't buy that. Like a month ago you were asking for requests on what to listen to. You hadn't even heard Left Hand Path yet. You only got Cause of Death like two weeks ago. I dont know it's cool that you're listening to good **** it's just a little weird. I dont know where I'm going with this. Review is good by the way, just get rid of the random underline thing you've been doing, it's kind of annoying.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 08:39 PM

My first Nile Album was in late May of 06'. I then got CC's ToTM on the 4th of July, and kept going?

Hahaha, I like those, but if you say so...

Eliminator 08-10-2007 08:41 PM

nile is my favorite old school death metal band

Angmar 08-10-2007 08:41 PM

Yeah, in HBP's defence I remember him making lists about that kind of metal and such when he first joined the site to be quite honest.

Tyler 08-10-2007 08:42 PM

Yeah, but I'm saying you've only been listening to good death metal for like two months. Nile and CC are both horrible.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 08:43 PM

My second review was of Morbid Angel's Covenant, and my third was the s/t Deicide, which I still adore to this day.

How's was Work Stevo?

EDIT: But Tyler, see that ruins your point. When it becomes a matter of opinion then its skewed. Death metal is death metal and you can't say " you're insincire because you have only been listening to good death metal for x amount of time".

Angmar 08-10-2007 08:44 PM

Good I guess, still not completely done, just takin a dinner break. Still heiling Human by Death
