Yeah I've always pronounced it pretty much the way it's spelled.

Edit: Meddle without the "E" sound at the end. I also think it's weird to say it that way.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-09-2007 07:19 PM
Also, out of interest, who pronounces Meddle as "meddle"
I say it that way. The thought of pronouncing it another way has never crossed my mind until now.

Yield 02-09-2007 07:22 PM

That's the only way that I've ever thought of pronouncing it. How is it meant to be pronounced?

I've always thought of it as like "med-del"

http://kgon.com/Article.asp?PT=Staff+Stuff&id=346452

Just hear about that this afternoon. Nothing's set in stone or anything, but that would be pretty incredible. I would go to LA for that.

http://kgon.com/Article.asp?PT=Staff+Stuff&id=346683

Just found that, too. Should be cool.

TheMisterBungle 02-10-2007 08:21 PM

They will turn it down of course.

Eliminator 02-10-2007 08:22 PM
i was listening to the madcap laughs the other day
and it sucks

TheMisterBungle 02-10-2007 08:27 PM

How so?

rippa32 02-10-2007 09:56 PM
They will turn it down of course.
I reckon they'll do it. They said that the only shows they would do are charity ones. That's a charity one isnt it?

MattSharpIsCool 02-10-2007 10:05 PM

Also, not mentioned in that article, is they're trying to get Zeppelin to re-unite for the concert.

I think Floyd would do it. The bigger obstacle is actually going through with the concerts.

EDIT: Nevermind, it does mention Zeppelin.

rippa32 02-10-2007 10:14 PM

So what's stopping the Zeppelin thing? They did Live Aid after Bonham died.

MattSharpIsCool 02-10-2007 10:18 PM

Jean Paul Jones doesn't get along with Jimmy Page or Robert Plant.

As far as I know, that's pretty much it, but thats a pretty big obstacle.

Danger Bird 02-10-2007 10:18 PM

Well there's the fact that it would suck.

MattSharpIsCool 02-10-2007 10:42 PM

What would? Zeppelin or the concert?

Because I think they'd both be pretty cool.

rippa32 02-11-2007 12:01 AM

Yer obviously Page and Plant still get on well. Wonder what's wrong with Jones.

MrConeman 02-11-2007 12:11 AM
Yer obviously Page and Plant still get on well. Wonder what's wrong with Jones.
Page and Plant did a Page and Plant tour sometime in the 90's or something, but anyway, they toured and did Zeppelin stuff and didn't tell him, or ask him to come along, he is supposed to have found out about it like everyone else, in the news etc.
I'd be pretty P.O'd if that happened to me.

Danger Bird 02-11-2007 12:19 AM
What would? Zeppelin or the concert?

The reunion. Page and Plant are washed up and their best member is dead.

rippa32 02-11-2007 01:14 AM

Ive always though of John Paul Jones as the best member myself.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-11-2007 01:16 AM

I don't really care for Zeppelin.

MattSharpIsCool 02-11-2007 01:18 AM

I dont know if it would be the same without Bonham, not to mention how old the guys are getting now. I dont know what Jimmy Page is doing nowadays, but I'd imagine he can still play his guitar. Plant doesn't sound as good as he used to, but I'd still like to see them play a one-time thing.

I like Zeppelin's early stuff a lot better. I'm not just saying that to sound scene either, so stfu. I am just not interested in much of their "we are sex gods" era music.

Rawb 02-11-2007 01:21 AM

I never really cared for Pink Floyd or Zepplin for that matter.

Jim 02-11-2007 05:24 AM

We is on Zeppelin now?

I like both bands, but Floyd >>>> Zeppelin for the record :)

rippa32 02-11-2007 05:36 AM

Yer a bit off-topic there. Back to Roger Water's show. Did anyone notice the drumming was different on Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun? I was very dissapointed about that as I think there an integral part of that song.

Jim 02-11-2007 05:54 AM

I liked the bigger arrangement. Didn't quite sound as spacey (which I know would've peeved some), but it was definitely more rock-oriented, and I dug that entirely. It was one of my favourites for the night :smoke:

He gave similar treatment to Welcome to the Machine on his In the Flesh tour. It's great.

I just wished he would've played The Final Cut or What God Wants pt1. They would be dreamy.

rippa32 02-11-2007 06:14 AM

Actually that change of drums really annoyed me. He did a good job of Fletcher Memorial Home though if you want to talk about Final Cut.

Jo Shoe Wah 02-11-2007 07:31 AM

Yeah the drumming was different, and definately sounded alot less cosmic/psychedelic, though i still liked the version they played, the backup singers really made it too <_<

Fletcher Memorial Home was sick too, Only thing i find myself really wishing he'd played, was to keep playing the encore all the way through so i could hear The Trial :D I love that.

Jimmy 02-11-2007 12:46 PM

I made a desktop wallpaper out of the meddle photo gate.

Well then you're obviously in the right thread.

MattSharpIsCool 02-11-2007 04:09 PM

I think I've decided I don't like Roger's solo stuff all that much. I was listening to his solo albums last night and earlier today, and I just dont really like them.

Riva 02-11-2007 04:18 PM

I love how badarse Rick is with a beard.

And on In The Flesh, Roger supplants part of Dark Side Of The Moon, namely Great Gig In The Sky, Us And Them and On The Run with Pros And Cons Of Hitch-hiking Part 11, The Bravery Of Being Out Of Range, Perfect Sense, It's A Miracle and Amused To Death. His reasoning is that those songs make it the complete story of life.

At first I didn't think much of the change, but now it's really grown on me.

The only problem is that Great Gig and Us and Them are maybe the best songs on Darkside.

Yield 02-11-2007 05:23 PM

 Are you meaning to tell me that there are other songs on DSOTM?!?!?!

And those two are Wright songs not Waters ...

Richard Wright just rules, he's so underrated and made some of PF's finest work

MattSharpIsCool 02-11-2007 06:02 PM

I know they're Wright's songs, so I understand why Roger took them out of his set. I'm just saying they're good songs.

rippa32 02-11-2007 06:26 PM

Ah well, at least he played it properly when I saw him :thumb:

Riva 02-11-2007 06:49 PM

They are excellent songs, and Rick is my favourite solo artist from Floyd, so nyah. :p

Yield 02-11-2007 07:00 PM

Us and Them is one of my favorites off the album.

Anyways, I watched Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead yesterday. Pretty good movie. They had Seamus in there and at one part they started to play Echoes, which was funny considering the context in which they played it.

MattSharpIsCool 02-11-2007 07:02 PM

I heard Seamus on the radio yesterday. I guess since they finished with that A-Z thing they were doing, they're gonna start playing some more songs they usually don't.

Yield 02-11-2007 07:03 PM

Seamus is a cool song.
