Does anyone else think that Bob Dylan is the most influential artist (other than the beatles)
Were this two months ago, I would've said "being happy is overrated."

At the moment, I'm oddly happy.

Though I'm sort of annoyed; can lifting weights stunt growth? If so, I think I'll stop.
Lifting weight definately can stunt growth. The factors are the amount of weight you lift/reps because they can mess up your joints(restricting new bones.)

I doubt it stunts it that much. Ive been lifting for 2 years now and am bout 6'2. Just remember to stretch. helps

About that girl thing...in my experiences the "best friend" who is also a girl usually screws you over in the long run but if she is a "best friend" with no flirting/dating intentions than its just fun to hang with them. Theyre usually funny too.

Foxfire 08-26-2004 11:29 PM

Like I said in the other one:
"Well what I'm doing.

I'm 5'9 at the moment. I haven't grown at all during the summer. I lift three times a week, doing one set each time. I do 6-10 reps, aiming for a mass that is hard for me to lift 6 times."

I just started last month and I've made it a habit to stretch before and after any type of exercise I do, be it aerobic or lifting or some sort.

PaulSimonon 08-26-2004 11:30 PM

I go for one thats hard after around 10, and go to 15 or 20 reps, depending on what I'm doing the next day...... but I do a lot of Cals, and less weights because hockey is less about being strong than it is about having a strong core and being able to go in 45 sec bursts and recover quickly..., unless I can get in a sled, then its lifting, but that doesn't happen often.. but I use free weights most of the time as the sled is available once a week during conditioning for hockey, and most times we can't use it
I love almost every hendrix song... Manic depression, All Along the Watchtower (really a Dylan song, but who cares), Purple Haze, pretty much everything
Hendrix is bitchin

Foxfire 08-26-2004 11:31 PM

I think I'm going to try to do "slow lifting."

I've recently upped my amount of aerobic exercise.

I dunno, I'm just sad that I haven't gotten any taller. :'( :p

Try not to lift anything that you cant initially do 15 reps of maxing out/heavy weights what your doing can be damaging9and stunt growth what your talking about.)

I do something like this (example)
leg ext. 90lb warmup of 30 reps
150lb 15 reps
170lb 12 reps
200lb 10 reps
220lb 8/10 reps

Depending on what your goal is, doing more reps rather than just sheer weight is more beneficial in the long run. More muscle fibers are used giving you more endurance, muscle mass/shape.

good luck, hope this helped

ScorpSath 08-26-2004 11:32 PM

Foxfire you're 13 right, you are taller than me im only 5'5-5'6.

e p 08-26-2004 11:34 PM

I think i remeber him saying hes 13^
how old are you (scorp)

remember free weights are your friends.

Okay, I'll give it a try. So aim for less weight but more reps? My understanding is that it will take longer to develop muscle, but it's more benficial; is that correct?

And yeah, I only use free weights for the most part.

ScorpSath 08-26-2004 11:34 PM

14 near 15

ScorpSath 08-26-2004 11:35 PM

you e.p?

thats what my conditioning coach from hockey, an NFL vet says..... and my uncle who is a cop and was a prolific football player in his day told me that before I had a coach .....that is if you meant the second weight as reps

PaulSimonon 08-26-2004 11:37 PM

me = teh 14 1/2

Yeah try to go for more repetitions(is that was you mean) that few reps with heavy weight. youll get more out of it. Still challenge yourself weight wise, but dont just do some crazy amount 3 times. Say, half that amount, 15 or so times. And work up to a heavy weight so your last set you should only be able to do several reps. Like a pyramid.

:chug:

and to scorp and all my stalkers out there: im 14 3/4 years old.

Foxfire 08-26-2004 11:38 PM

Yeah it was a typo; I looked at it and fixed it, sorry. :p

^^ Ow....... (to EP's)

Foxfire 08-26-2004 11:41 PM

Haha. I do believe I pulled my hamstring a little (or a muscle in that general area). Was doing a lunge and it hurt a bit to sit down. :p

PaulSimonon 08-26-2004 11:43 PM

I stubbed my toe today at conditioning.... and it hurt bad when you had to sprint... pains shooting up the back of my leg for some reason....

odd

Foxfire 08-26-2004 11:44 PM

For a while (like a MONTH) my knees hurt a decent amount. Like I woke up one day to the phone ringing, answered it, ran to look for my parents, then had to go back upstairs...I had to crawl up the stairs. -_-

Hmm I guess I'll have to change my routine then.../me doesn't want to be short. :p

I dunno..I did this basketball/football condtining thing half a year ago for a couple months(it was intense), and my knees crack everytime they go at a 90 degree angle or less.

Foxfire 08-26-2004 11:47 PM

I have cracking knees, but so does my mom, one of her sisters, and her mom.

PaulSimonon 08-26-2004 11:47 PM

I know... I was confused...

My knees always hurt, I've had problems since I was little, I had to give up playing goalie in hockey because of them.... I had to wear Forrest Gump shoes when I was litlle
I have cracking knees, but so does my mom, one of her sisters, and her mom.
Which means, in turn, you are a woman.

PaulSimonon 08-26-2004 11:49 PM

maybe he is the pornstar named foxfire he was talking about before....

Foxfire 08-26-2004 11:49 PM

Guess so.

Which means I'm intelligent and spontaneous. Booya.

wouldn't your mom's sister's mom be your grandmother?

Foxfire 08-26-2004 11:50 PM

Yep. I was just lazy.

PaulSimonon 08-26-2004 11:51 PM

I'm easily confused... why these complexities?

e p 08-26-2004 11:51 PM
Yep. I was just lazy.
Actually lazyness would be saying grandmother instead of all the extra uneccessary words.

I believe you meant stupid :thumb:

Foxfire 08-26-2004 11:52 PM

Okay, fine, stupid.

I'm a guy, give me a break.

Thats 2 sexist remarks in a row.

nice

to scorp: the first one is cheaper, nicer looking, ash, IMO the better one

Foxfire 08-26-2004 11:54 PM

The one below is crappier quality, to my knowledge. Reviews say that it's active, but the battery is GLUED INTO THE BASS with Elmer's.

The top most one I don't know, as it just came out.

You know it.

ScorpSath 08-26-2004 11:57 PM

ok so say no two the below one?

Foxfire 08-26-2004 11:58 PM

Yes. I would get the Ash one, the Brice Z, or the HXB-406; except the HXB 406 and Brice Z are more expensive.

e p 08-26-2004 11:59 PM
ok so say no two the below one?
I would think so.
