Canibus is the amazing freestyler
http://youtube.com/watch?v=jPDkhULtvFg
Ive heard much better tbh. Anyone got the new Aesop album yet? I downloaded the promo the other day and I cant stop listening to it, his vocals and lyrics sounds very mature and match the beats perfectly. Any thoughts? |
Ive heard much better tbh.
Such as? I don't think Canibus' freestyles there were the greatest but the guy sounds so much better than most. I wish Aes wouldn't work with the other Def Jux artists. Cage and El-P sound so bad on his new album. |

http://youtube.com/watch?v=v2g792twNKg Those two for a start. Im not saying hes a bad freestyler, far from it, just that isn't one of best. |
Freakin' insane.
|
Eyedea is a good battle rapper but I refuse to say Slug is a good freestyler in any sense of the word.
|
Eyedea has one of the worst flows in the business. It's like if Percee P was mentally retarded.
|
Percee P owns i want his album.
|
have you guys heard the new ugk album
|

I wouldn't go that far, i find his flow very intresting, the way he draws out his lines and doesn't stick to being metronomic like alot of rapers these days. Shame he stopped doing hip hop. |

I really like International Players' Anthem so I was thinking about it. I heard it's a double album, though... |

Did you hear his Eyedea + Abilities album? It wasn't very good. It's not a loss. |
Percee P - Perseverance (Promo)
megaupload.com/?d=EJKZTFQ0 Hey yo Percee P, that's me, every verse to me's like murder in the first degree Madlib's production is surprisingly good on this. |

Legendary Lyricist is a funky *** jam. what the **** is up with that "Percee P....Promo..." that comes out and cuts the music every ****ing minute? thats annoying as hell |
Madlib's production is surprisingly good on this.
What does that mean? Madlib is the shit. I love Percee P and I will get this when it is an official leak without the annoying overdubs. |
What does that mean?
Him and Just Blaze are probably the worst producers out there right now. Such a repetitive and boring style. |

I disagree. I love Madlib. Just Blaze is...meh. Indifferent really. |
new Oh No is surprisingly good, even if the album concept is a bit too much like Donuts'. most of the beats are better than Madlib's anyway so who's complaining

I haven't listened to much rap really at all. I'm mostly a metalhead, but trying to get into some rap because I do like it.
Some people I heard some stuff from and liked were: Immortal Technique Jedi Mind Tricks Aesop Rock Deltron 3030 Atmosphere Talib Kweli Necro Help me find some more stuff to download and check out. I was using a blog called Rap Dungeon, but it doesn't have that much stuff really, so if you guys know any better blogs or something, feel free to link away or something. I do have a rapidshare premium, and I use torrents some, but I prefer things like rapidshare/megaupload etc |
I'm going to upload a few albums and post them in this thread tonight.
BE AFRAID |
Cool, I'll check back later then.
I had some torrents go while I was in class today, and when I got home now I've got 2 Doseone albums (one is Doseone and Boom Bip), and a Hieroglyphics, since someone recommended those artists to me before. Listening to Doseone right now, it's pretty interesting, not so much rap as the other ones, but this seems like some chill as **** music. |

Abu is starting off wrong.
|
Everybody looking to get into rap should really just start off with the Wu-Tang Clan and anywhere they go after there is all their own fault.

Wu who?
Abu is starting off wrong.
Care to atleast give some ****ing advice then? Obviously there will be conflicting opinions, but I just want to know where to start and some artists similar to what I've already liked. I mean, obviously if what I've liked so far is that terrible, then when you tell me some awesome artists to look up, and I hear them, I'll realize it. Right? |

Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) is a nice place to start. From there, it might be worth your while to check out the early solo albums. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Liquid Swords, Tical, Ironman, Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version are all pretty sweet. From there, whatever. |

Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), GZA's Liquid Swords and Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... are the places to start. Nas' Illmatic is another album you should look into. |
Count Bass D - Begborrowsteel
Touted a jack of all trades, Count Bass D has garnered respect by composing all his lyrics, playing an assortment of instruments, and releasing album after album of superior sampling. Count ounce again forgoes filler on Begborrowsteel’s 15 tracks, blending live instrumentals with film dialogue, to create yet another musical masterpiece. http://www.mediafire.com/?dnybtomwjtm KMD - Black Bastards Black Bastards was voted in Ego Trip's Book of Rap Lists as the most notable rap album of all time that was never released commercially, and with good reason. The fact that this excellent album, slated for a 1994 release, has not seen the light of day until 2001 testifies to a time when shortsighted industry backlashes against records that inflamed Middle America were in vogue. Elektra Records higher-ups canned the project due to its controversial cover art, which shows a Sambo figure being lynched. Finally available, this must-purchase concept album is worth the wait. From the jazzy, hypnotic samples on the title cut to "Sweet Premium Wine," a farcical ode to swigging 40-ounce bottles of brew (remember when drinking St. Ides and Old English was trendy?), you know you've found rap heaven. Classic headbanger "What a Niggy Know?" (and the remix featuring partner-in-rhyme MF Grimm) is equally off the chain. "Constipated Monkey" and weed anthem "Suspended Animation" are testaments to a time in rap music when experimental beats and obscure sampling ruled the roost. Black Bastards is where Brand Nubian meets De La Soul at the local bodega, heads wear Muslim kufis for kicks, and "word to the mutha'" actually refers to themes of pan-Africanism, repatriation, and reparations. His debut album, Breakin' Combs, was released in 1994. http://www.mediafire.com/?dmujwkxlydo |
