sorry, just download it for free- www.itunes.com
it only takes like 2 minutes. It's great- it can play any kind of file too.
Have you heard John Lennon's solo stuff?
I can't really get into it. I like Working Class Hero, though.

robo2448 06-03-2005 06:53 PM

Buy Plastic Ono Band if you don't have it. If you give it a chance and listen to it all the way through, you'll probably like it. If you've already tried it, then I guess his stuff just isn't for you. Oh well. Everybody's has different tastes.

Woodstock 06-03-2005 07:26 PM

I'm uploading Revolver for everyone. I'm bored tonight.

slowhand 06-03-2005 07:32 PM

I see that George is still getting ignore on his solo work.

I won't get into it, I think I've said my piece a million times, and even have found that I'm not the only one who believes that All Things Must Pass is the best Beatle solo album (there was a list I posted in the Classic Rock thread which puts it before any of Lennon's and McCartney's work).

Woodstock 06-03-2005 07:33 PM

He is not getting ignored by me. I love his solo work.

Seafroggys 06-03-2005 07:51 PM

I like Lennon's early solo work, as opposed to his later stuff.

Plastic Ono Band is a great, crunchy, grungy album. Imagine is also good.....well....Imagine is the best song ever, but you also have Gimme Some Truth (one of the most kick *** songs ever), How (one of the most beautiful songs ever) and stuff like How do you Sleep? Great stuff.

Mother is truly emotional, especially the end. It sends shivers up my spine.

slowhand 06-03-2005 07:56 PM

I don't like Mother. I find it annoying. How Do You Sleep? is cool, anti-McCartney-ism, with George playing on that track too.

Of course, Imagine is the best song... ever, but album wise, no other Beatle can go against All Things Must Pass. At least for me.

The Beatles Revolver.zip

MalcolmYoungRock 06-03-2005 10:18 PM

Jimmy_Page: One After 909, I've Got a Feeling, Two of Us, Dig a Pony and I, Me Mine are all really good songs off Let It Be.

Personally, everyone says it's bad, but I think it's really really good.

Brain Toad 06-03-2005 10:19 PM

I just bought a shirt today with the cover of Revolver on it, my favourite Beatles album, and now I'm listening to the album.

Beatles are my favourite band, and have been since I was a wee little one, and they will be until the day I die.

Seafroggys 06-03-2005 10:38 PM

Yeah, I have Let it Be Naked and its way better then I expected it to be. Two of Us is a killer song, One After 909 is just plain fun....I've Got a Feeling is fun to groove to on the drums, and Dig a Pony is pretty cool (similar chord progressions though to Joe Cocker's cover of with a little help from my friends though....I think this came first though ;) )

ledpoisoning27 06-04-2005 12:06 AM

Can someone give me a list of all the songs Ringo sings on? I can't get enough of Ringo singing.

DeusExMachina 06-04-2005 12:03 PM

I seem to recall someone mentioning this awhile back, but never saw a link to it. Anyways, my friend sent me this, it's really amazing.

www.ukuleledisco.com/jake

And, if you want to see him just being awesome playing his own stuff, check this out.

He rocks the ukulele. Hard.

Is that Jake Shimabukuro!?!?!?

Another fan!?!? Alright!

I've got his Walking Down Rainhill CD and it's awesome!

He did a cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and it's effin' sweet.

That album is actually in my top 5. I think it's great. Could have been a little better if it weren't for Phil Spector.

robo2448 06-04-2005 12:57 PM

I think its great too. I've Got A Feeling pwns everything  .

Does anyone here have Live Peace in Toronto I really like that. It has my favorite versions of a lot of John's stuff. UNfortunately it's really only one side because the second side is just Yoko stuff.

You're my hero. You need to send me more of his stuff!
Definitely Revolver, then MMT, then Let it Be. Then solo albums, then early stuff. You got a lot to buy. Anyone want to recommend me a McCartney solo album to buy? I think it fits in this thread. But is his solo career any good?
I think Band on the Run is Paul's best solo album.

Listen to it with earphones, but only use one, and fix the settings so you barely hear her wailing, and you can just hear Clapton soloing . Thanks for the McCartney recommendation, I'll check that out. Do you know if his live stuff is any good?

Yes Paul's live stuff is excellent. Wings over America is probably his best it is my dad's favorite live album of all time.

I've got it all in m4a files, so do you have iTunes? A lot of it is really brilliantly composed like hawaiian jazz.

Any album.

Iron_Weed 06-04-2005 05:14 PM

Except maybe Yellow Submarine

robo2448 06-04-2005 05:20 PM

If you don't own anything, I'd buy 1 first. So what if it's a ****ty collection, it will get you into the band and gives you a good overview of their early years especially. The first studio album I would buy would be Rubber Soul, as it was the first Beatles album I got, and is a masterpiece. Simply brilliant. After that, I would go this route Revolver> Sgt. Peppers> Magical Mystery Tour> The White Album> Abbey Road> Let it Be. If you like those go back to early stuff or solo careers.

Don't have iTunes, but I have a program that can convert m4a to mp3. I haven't heard much of his stuff, but I absolutely love what I have heard.

groomits 06-04-2005 05:37 PM
