They must have a poor knowlege...

I want them to come to Newcastle!

but that's as likely as them releasing a grindcore album...
That'd be awesome... and they did do that cover with the dude from ND.

Thor 10-02-2005 07:06 PM
...or as likely as Myung becoming a goth and joining a satanic black metal band as the vocalist?!?

yay, i cant wait for the gig at wolverhampton, 24 days to go (i think)
What?

bwnstl 10-02-2005 08:11 PM
Because they have poor knowledge of English cities.
Most bands don't pick what cities they tour at. It's usually their tour manager, hence the title.

Enlighten Me 10-03-2005 07:44 AM

Why aren't people that hyped about Octavarium?
I heard it, and it's really good. I'd have to say that These Walls is my favorite track!

the2stranger 10-03-2005 07:54 AM

because I don't like 8vm all that much
the title track is ace though

Chu 10-03-2005 08:49 AM

So why post in a Dream Theater thread....?

i take it you havent heard all of DT's stuff, and if you have...may god help you. Octavarium is pants compaired to most other DT, but it's still a gooden.

nowitzki 10-03-2005 10:20 AM

The title track of Octavarium is one of DT's best songs, probably top 5. Other than that it's nothing breathtaking, but the title track makes it an essential purchase for DT fans.

klown22 10-03-2005 11:10 AM

Yeah, Octavarium is really a gem.

Also, The Root of All Evil is a nice opener and continuation to Mike's string of songs

And while they are at it, could they please consider coming to Scotland some time (like LaBrie said they would on this tour, getting all my hope up for nothing).

scenesfromatheater 10-03-2005 11:56 AM

Oh well just come down to Wolves, about 23 days to go YYEEESSSSS

If they went to Scotland I would be OK to go, just Wolverhampton is a little too far and expensive to get to... :upset:

Jev 10-03-2005 02:44 PM

I'm going to the gig on the 24th Oct. Anyone else?

the2stranger 10-03-2005 02:49 PM

I'm not going to the tour :upset:
oh well, hopefully next year

Lord Abortion 10-03-2005 03:20 PM

I live about as far north in England as you can get without being in scotland...

Unless you're near the front I don't reckon it will be as much as an experience when you're seated. I'm going to have sore legs after standing for over 3 hours in Wolves though. aahhhhhh

GenuineImitation 10-03-2005 06:02 PM

Does anyone have a video file or know where I can get one of Dream Theater playing the glass prison live. I have been looking everywhere for it and have turned up empty handed.

Kirk's Puppet 10-04-2005 12:50 AM

Just bought I&W Live in Tokyo and 5 Years in a Livetime.

Myung was freaking hyper back then. The commentaries were funny

Someone: What're you playing there, John?
Myung: Uhh... yeah, bass. (Same reply as LSFNY  )

Someone: Miracle, what's this song about?
Ruddess: Yeah, what's this song about, John?
Myung: It's about 5 minutes.

Myung's the greatest member of the freaking band.

Kirk's Puppet 10-04-2005 12:57 AM
Im just wondering, does everyone here agree that Octavarium is 'not as good' as their older albums?
Everytime I see someone complimenting Octavarium, I always wonder if they have listened to Images and Words.
Octavarium is a good album. James LaBrie sings more carefully here. I love The Answer Lies Within too.

Anyone else think that the lyrics on Scenes of a memory are a bit lame?
Anyone else think that the lyrics on Scenes of a memory are a bit lame?
yes. I love the record music wise. The lryics are just plain dumb, like most of the lryics on the later records

afa octavarium DT has a new trend of ripping of other artists riffs/styles and putting them on record. I hear megadeth, Muse and others, and its not apprecriated by me at all.

On the song octavarium, the purposely did that though, its not ripping them off, its more paying tribute.
