You lucky bum. I'd definitely be willing to drop all that money to find all of the Pink Floyd records.

As for the whole lyrics thing, I can see it in some cases, but definitely not others. Lyrics like Time or Money don't seem very Beatles-esque.
The lyrics to Time don't strike me as very beatlesy at all.

there are, however, very good lyrics indeed...

man, i love that song.

pigonthewing82 03-11-2005 05:28 PM

You know I think Saucerful of Secrets is really underrated. Right now I'm getting into Corporal Clegg.

lunch998 03-11-2005 05:31 PM

I like the guitar part in ABItW Pt.1, after the lyrics. A lot of people think that song drags on, but I enjoy Gilmour's licks there.

I never got into much syd era stuff.

Harsh as it sounds, I find syd inspired more great music than he actually made.

its so different though, its kinda hard to compare syd and gilmour eras.

Saucerful is the band without Syd, and he only wrote a few of the songs on the album.

ah, ok.

which 'Saucerful' stuff is on echoes?

My 'floyd collection is rather thin I'm afraid, i'm fairly new to it all

I have dark side aswell, and a tape of great dance songs (charity shop find, 75p :thumb: ) and i found those 2 albums in my dad's CD collection

which would you advise i buy first, wish you were here or meddle? I really liked "one of these days", but shine on is an utter classic, and wish you were here is a nice song.

Yea but he picked a great song to go out on (Jugband Blues).

Get the one you know less about. Then it's more rewarding.

meddle it is then

thanks

Crazy Train 03-11-2005 05:48 PM

I just recently got into Pink Floyd. I've always known who they are but never really listened to them. Welcome to the Machine = the ****e

magicbus 03-11-2005 06:30 PM

Meddle is very good, I'd get that one.

In recent news, Waiting For The Worms is a very creepy song. The lyrics are...chilling?

I love that track. It really gives me the chills.

magicbus 03-11-2005 06:33 PM

Yea man, but I just realized the part on The Trial when the judge comes in actually gives me goosebumps. So I'd say this is the most chilling part on the album.

Otherside 03-11-2005 06:35 PM

I love waiting for the worms. Call me weird, but In the Flesh and Waiting for the Worms are my favorite tracks on the CD. (Along with Hey You)

From the Show Must Go On to the end of the album is an amazing experience, to me.

/nazi :p

Yea lunch, I agree. It gets very good.

Distant Echoes 03-11-2005 07:13 PM

People think im crazy for liking The Trial so much, but i think its one of the best, and strongest tracks on the album.

I dont really care much for waiting for the worms, i dont know why, it doesnt appeal to me

PeenkPhloide 03-11-2005 07:26 PM

I really like waiting for the worms also, it sounds really neat with both of em singing.

PeenkPhloide 03-11-2005 07:29 PM

I bought a kazoo so I could play that song. hehe. Me=Lame :p

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-11-2005 07:33 PM

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the end of the Wall. It is just entirely too dark for my tastes. I still appreciate it, but I just feel so bad after listening to it. :p

Check my postcount.

I love/like it a lot too.

IMO, the second disk is way better than the first.

pigonthewing82 03-11-2005 07:57 PM

I like the first disk better off Is There Anybody Out There. What Shall we do Now I think was one of the strongest songs on the album. Also there is a lot more jamming between the band. On the studio I prefer the second disk though.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-11-2005 08:16 PM

I think I prefer the end up disc one and the beginning of disc 2. The middle section.

Disc 1.5?

:lame:

That part in the Wall (movie) is so haunting......It makes me shudder.

Conceptually the transition doesn't make much sense, but it is very strong musically.

DeusExMachina 03-11-2005 10:04 PM

I prefer the second disc, personally. Is There Anybody Out There is one of my favorite songs ever.

funkybeeatch14 03-11-2005 10:09 PM

Anyone listen to the tribute band Blue Floyd? Theyre coming soon to a local venue of mine.

pigonthewing82 03-11-2005 10:18 PM
I prefer the second disc, personally. Is There Anybody Out There is one of my favorite songs ever.
Yea I think Roger said that that and Nobody Home were his favorites.

Riva 03-12-2005 12:57 AM
I prefer the second disc, personally. Is There Anybody Out There is one of my favorite songs ever.
Well, I cannot judge either the first or second disc... It's really a matter of what I feel like at the time. Although Goodbye Blue Sky, The Thin Ice, In The Flesh? and Mother are on disc one, Waiting For The Worms, The Trial, Run Like Hell and Comfortably Numb are on disc two. How can I choose!

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 03-12-2005 01:09 AM

Anyone like More?
