Did Marty leave Megadeth, or did dave fire him, and when did this happen

munky_magik 05-12-2005 01:28 PM

Marty left after Cryptic Writings, to the best of my knowledge.

FlyingPaul_83 05-12-2005 01:30 PM

Was Cryptic wings around 1997?

VicRattlehead99 05-12-2005 02:07 PM

Who was o with megadeth during risk and the world needs a hero? i am pretty sure marty was on megadeth until the world needs a hero.

munky_magik 05-12-2005 02:09 PM

Marty played up until Risk, which was '99.
Cryptic Writings was '97.
Al Pitrelli played on TWNAH.

VicRattlehead99 05-12-2005 02:11 PM

Ohh okay thanks why did marty and nick leave?

munky_magik 05-12-2005 02:20 PM

Marty left bacuase he just wasn't enjoying the band anymore. He wanted to branch out and try different things that he couldn't do in 'Death.
At least that's what I read somewhere, I have no idea if it's true or not :-/

VicRattlehead99 05-12-2005 02:35 PM

is nick with marty or another band right now?

munky_magik 05-12-2005 02:56 PM

He's not with Marty. He briefly re-joined 'Death for TSHF, but then left again.

vashts80 05-12-2005 03:03 PM

Nick, IIRC, got kicked out after Cryptic Writings for lying about drugs. I believe he said that he was robbed at a MacDonalds or something to that effect and that was why he didn't show up for a gig or something, when he instead was either getting drugs or was high already.

Marty left after the Risk tour because he didn't like the direction that the band was going in and he wanted to branch out and do different things that Dave didn't want to do.

This is when Jimmy and Al joined respectively.

Nick was going to come back for the TSHF tour, but he wasn't able to physically play that stuff anymore. Vinnie Colaiuta did the drumming on TSHF and now Shawn is drumming live.

RustedPieces 05-12-2005 03:52 PM

This might be a stupid question.. But can someone tell me the scale thats used in the extended she-wolf thats on rude awakening?

FlyingPaul_83 05-12-2005 07:55 PM

When was chris poland in the band?

RustedPieces 05-12-2005 07:58 PM

He was their first lead guitarist. But I'm pretty sure Kerry King was a temporary guitarist before they found Poland.

He was the lead guitarisat in killing is my business?

RustedPieces 05-12-2005 08:07 PM

Yeah. Here you would probably appreciate this site, if you already havent been to it. Someone posted a link to this site a little while ago. http://megadeth.uw.hu/videos.html, all live 'Deth videos. Enjoy!

FlyingPaul_83 05-12-2005 08:11 PM

Is that really chris poland, he looks bored on the last rites/loved to deth vdieo

RustedPieces 05-12-2005 08:16 PM

Me and my friend were saying the same thing. Look at his pinky in the rattlehead video when he's playing the solo. Its funny because he can stretch is so far because he broke it before or something. So like, no other guitarist can play that song because they can't reach the note with their pinky.

Five Magics 05-12-2005 10:52 PM

Gar Samuelson
Chuck Behler
Nick Menza
Jimmy Degrasso
Vinnie Colaiuta
Shawn Drover

6 different drummers....I wonder if any band had more drummers than the 'deth

Apocalyptic Raids 05-13-2005 04:48 AM

I wouldn't really count Colaiuta as a full member of Megadeth, since he was only a session drummer for one album.

Iced Earth for one.

ArcLite 05-13-2005 05:16 AM

Death went through five I believe. In fact sharing one, Richard Christy, with Iced Earth.

ThrashMaster27 05-13-2005 05:55 AM

Actually, going back onto the point about Chris Poland being bored. I also noticed this in videos. It's most likely because he's more into Jazz/Fusion than Metal itself. He only took the role in Megadeth cause he descibed the music as challenging.

Still! Amazing Guitarist.

Chu 05-13-2005 06:05 AM

I agree, he's an amazing guitarist, hell anyone who's worked with Mustaine is an amazing artist in my opinion, he definately knows how to find the best.

On that note, I think the SFSGSW guitarist (Jeff Young?) was the best :p

Apocalyptic Raids 05-13-2005 06:14 AM

Friedman will always be the best but all of Megadeth's lead guitarists have been top-notch.

I think you'd be the only one in this thread to think that. I respect your opinion though, nobody is wrong. I personally think Marty was the best Guitarist in 'Deth. Chris didn't do enough in the band to warrant me picking him....Same with Jeff. Plus, I think Marty is the best talent wise, as he's considered a Guitar Virtuoso, yet didn't even have training.

Chu 05-13-2005 06:18 AM

I know in terms of skill, Friedman is the best.
But what I prefer isn't always just skill, I think that SFSGSW has the best solos to date, also the best riffs, it's possibly all Mustaine who does the solos, and if that's the case, more props to him.
