Drummer Nick Menza has officially rejoined MEGADETH, according to Nick's posting on the MEGADETH web site. "Yes, it's time to rock the globe once again," he writes. "After getting my head on straight and mending things up with the General [Mustaine], I'm very happy and excited to be back! I 'm very grateful to all you droogies who supported my return. Thank you! You won't regret it.

"I am in the process of learning the new material. It totally jams! I am loving jammin' along with it. Can't wait to play it live. It's gonna crush! I don't have any favorite songs yet. I've only had the CD one week. I like them all."

MEGADETH's new album, "The System Has Failed", is scheduled for release on September 14 through Sanctuary Records. The CD was recorded at Phase Four studios in Tempe, Arizona and features mainman Dave Mustaine alongside drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and bassist Jimmy Sloas. Additional lead guitar tracks were laid down by former MEGADETH guitarist Chris Poland.

Nick Menza is back? *explodes*

sensitiveorgan00 07-05-2004 03:36 PM

****it, he's back? Argh, I wanted to see Vinnie C. live with Megadeth. :upset:

Ratmevilempire 07-05-2004 04:18 PM

First, yay Nick Menza is back!Secondly I was at my drummers house for the past 2 days playing guitar and **** with my band so i have't had a chance to follow up on telling everybody how good Van Halen was. So,first off they had an opening band that I couldve missed because they weren't that good.Anyways,an hour later we hear the intro to Eruption the lights come on,wham!eddie and the gang start off with jump. They than played another song i dont remember and poundcake which featured eddie using a power drill to play the intro on his guitar. After a new song or two Micheal did a "bass solo"which basically consisted of him running around and playing random notes on his Jack Daniels bass(possiby the coolest bass ever)Then he pulled a tiny bottle of jack daniels out of the bas and drank it with no hands(another mini bottle was tossed into the crowd later). Then the rest of the band came back for Somebody get me a doctor, but Sammy just walked around because Micheal sang most of it but its such a good song I didnt care.Anyways,Alex played a drum solo(which was really long but incredibly good).(That was basically the first half but some of the order was mixed up.Anyways then they played top of the world which I wasn't really excited by.Then Unchained, possibly one of the best Van Halen songs and they did it really well It was one of the early highlights of the night. Why can't this be love ended up with everyone sitting down,I took this time to talk to the guy behind me who added that I should headbang more during the second half and I agreed with him(my neck is still sore) anyways, then sammy played where eagles dare, good performance etc. I just didnt like the song.Deeper kind of love and seventh seal were ok,but eddie kicked the show back into high gear with a 8minute+ guitar solo, dreams was good,in my opinion one of the best Hagar era songs and it was entertaining. After dreams they started to pull out the big hits,as soon as people started clapping after dreams eddie started up the classic intro to Ain't talkin bout love and the crowd loved every minute(myself included),but the show was gonna get even better. They played right now(another great Hagar era song)with a kickass video to accompany it,they even changed it to say van halen are kicking *** in toronto:).Anyways, they left the stage after right now but we wouldn't let them leave so they came out to do encore number 1 dressed in Maple leafs jerseys(a gimmick but hey,it worked) they reappeared on stage and started into the familiar intro of their cover of the Kinks, you really got me.I don' think anyone didn't clap, scream,or give the \m/(I being a true rocker did all three)during the verse the guy behind us decided to lean over and hang out with us while we all sung along with Sammy. They then pulled out another gm when they played the classic Panama. It was absolutly flawless and more energetic than the studio version.anyways, they then let the stage again but we wanted at least one more song, and thats what we got when they came out and did the Van Hagar classic, when its love.

That was a breakdown of what happened during each song.Throughout the whole thing Eddie was full of energy running around, jumping, etc. There were giant video screens to show what was happening(I had good enough seats I could've been happy without them). My 2 biggest disappointments were that Hot For Teacher didn't make an appearance(i didn't expect it to though since it hasn't been played by Van Halen for like 20 years)and that Eddie only played the frankenstrat for 2 songs. All in all It was an amazing concert by an amazing band with an amazing setlist and I couldn't have been happier(unless my t-shirt had been cheaper)
That's cool dude, I was just messing around anyway. Post some music soon, and repost the site on here, since the thread got closed.
For sure dude, I figured you were jokin, no harm man. I really can't wait to get some of our songs up there. We've been workin on a mix of covers and originals, so it takes a while. I guess I could describe us best as very similair in sound to Slayer, musically, but vocally it's very diverse, going from Slayer to Metallica to almost Death metal to even grungy vocals. I sing and play bass, and I like to experiment with my vocal capacity basically. I think it sounds cool though and a lot of ppl who listen to Slayer and all them say we're pretty good.

Griffin_Page 07-06-2004 12:49 AM

That's cool, I'd love to hear them.. as for my one-man-band, we sound a bit like Slayer/Kreator like vocals mixed with Megadeth/Testament style riffs, with some Sodom and Anthrax influence in there too.. i also put some Opethy-stuff and some black metal influence, mostly Bathory. I can't wait to get a full band together, I want to kick *** on stage.. life sucks.

The best thing about the Megadeth reissues is the fact that the un remastered versions will come down about 50% in price :D

I sure hope so,their cds are like $20 and since I don't have a job and I don't have too much money floating around I can't afford that ****.

Griffin_Page 07-06-2004 10:55 AM

I've got a new genre word to describe nu-metal, metalcore, and this new crap that just isn't metal. It is "aluminum metal". The diet coke of heavy metal. This can apply to bands ranging from Slipknot to Limp Bizkit to Avenged Sevenfold to Killswitch Engage and on. Basically, all the lame, crappy, talentless and extremely not-heavy stuff called metal will fit into this category. Aluminum Metal.

DisposableHeroes 07-06-2004 11:23 AM

so all this stuff being hailed the new wave of american heavy metal basically?

DimebagDarrell 07-06-2004 11:25 AM

Shady Ultima 07-06-2004 03:14 PM

There are quite a few good local thrash like bands in my area right now including us, Black Kreek and especially Betrayer. It's funny, my band compares to Slayer, BK to Metallica and Betrayer sounds like Megadeth, and all are pretty good IMO. I know Ratmevilempire will back me up when it comes to Betrayer kickin ***.
