anyone listen to Eroded (Itl)? New band but old school sounding and suitably generic and invariable for my tastes in DM.

The new Arghoslent is good. Interesting riffs throughout. I wouldn't say its as good as their last release, but its solid.

Two of my favorite death metal bands are Morbid Angel and Immolation. To me, Nile sort of blends the sound of those two bands and adds their own style to it. I like mythology so the ideas behind the music is interesting also.[/QUOTE]

The last 2 Nile albums haven't kept me very interested, Black Seeds Of Vengeance is still immense though.

that said I can't remember what came out this year other than Blood Oath (which I would put above it anyway tbh)

yeah, honestly I wasn't expecting it to be nearly as good as it is. the riffing is unique, even for the chasm and it's pretty daring to do half the album as instrumental especially considering how long all the songs are.

if i had to do a top 5 for dm this year it would be:
the chasm>>>>>funebrarum>asphyx>>ulcerate>>denial

i still need to listen to the new asphyx. so happy van drunen is back.
