Cyberfret.com is pretty awesome.

which note?

Stormrider 11-23-2005 08:15 PM
Well i did a couple posts on metal guitar in the guitar forum.

My last one was a real crowd pleaser. It's called Heavy Metal guitar (goin solo) and it gives you a general view behind the background of how metal lead came to be and I also give you the 5 pentatonic box shapes and some info on how to use them.

Check it out, you might actually like it.

Oh Joe, you are the authority on FTB but the guitar one harmony is slightly off by a note. Not to nitpick or anything.
Well, off of cyberfret, I got the form of the major and minor pentatonic, the major. the minor and a blues one. That part helped me lots.

Sry if Im anoying with this, but did you like the Iced Earth ?

Bazarov 11-23-2005 08:28 PM
Hey, i was looking for it and I couldnt find it. I used the search thing. Can you link me to it please ?
It was probably deleted. When Plexi came back.. or whoever... they hacked the forum nearly all the lessons were deleted.

Did you make that when you first joined? cause I loved that lesson1 it helped me so much. I used to have it bookmarked.

You should make another lesson

Hawkhead11 11-23-2005 09:32 PM
I love it. Great tone.

Green Red and Yellow :D

:upset: It's ok...

Yea, thrash is a very loose term. A lot of their songs can stretch and just barely be considered thrash.

I've been listening to a lot of Trivium and Children of Bodom because I'm going to see them soon. I've been listening to a hell of a lot of Sonata Arctica too, their amazing. Their cover of fade to black... :orgasm:
do you know any good metallica settings for the spider II?

Joe 11-23-2005 09:34 PM
do you know any good metallica settings for the spider II?
Actually, try going to the insane amp setting and turn up distortion all the way and then scoop it (bass 10 mid 0 treb 10) and it actually sounds good with this amp. I like it a lot. It's at my moms now so I can't really tell you any more because I don't remember but I'll check it out later

Britton 11-23-2005 09:35 PM

OMG! how old is that post?

SpiderII Metallica settings?....hmm...I play my friends spiderII and I just use the Metal channel and it sounds pretty good

Pretty close

It's a pretty old post.

Just play around with it. It's a great amp. There are a lot of presets that sound awesome. Play around with effects and such.

Britton 11-23-2005 09:39 PM

It's a fun amp to screw with. I was gonna get one for the longest time. But I couldn't get that warm tone I really like.

So I'm gonna get a VOX Valvetronix

The_Riddler 11-23-2005 10:33 PM
That's a bit harsh, isn't it? I thought it was a nicely produced album. You're right about Lars though. The drums do sound horrible.
I know this quote is from a day ago or so, and that is quite long ago since this forum moves fast within a topic.

No, I don't think it's harsh though. It was harsh on the ears though. There were no real standout songs on that album. It just seemed pretty cheap, the songs got really hard to listen to after 3 minutes. The only song I really enjoyed was Shoot me Again which also got tired halfway through.

Either way, not a good album in my opinion. Not trying to "mindlessly bash" an album, but I hope you understand what I am saying with both of my posts about it.

What's been happening guys?
My house got hit by lightning about 2 weeks ago (Yeah! Ride The Lightning  ), so I haven't had a computer, or been online for a while...

Anything cool happening with Metallica at the moment?

I've spent the past 2 weeks playing lots of guitar, and I just recently got Cliff 'em All, ****en awesome!!

W.M.A 11-24-2005 02:42 AM

Chu 11-24-2005 03:56 AM

Of course I still have them
Just give me a while to dig them off my old HDD.. Had to get a new PC, lost all my music :(

Luckily however, I have an iPod with all my music on it, and yeah I got S&M, just waiting for Live ****, which I can, and will get my hands on soon
(Probably a box set, if that means anything to you guys  ).

PepsiMetal uploaded Metallica's gig with the Rolling Stones if that affects you in anyway. T'was a good concert.

Chu 11-24-2005 04:27 AM

Oh, what songs did they play?! :D

I guess nothing good, I won't really get excited, I know they'd never play Orion live :(

They played Orion.

Chu 11-24-2005 04:59 AM

What?!
The full 8:28?!?!?!?!?! :amaze: :amaze:
This cannot be possible.

fatbandit 11-24-2005 05:07 AM

Nopes, only up to and not including the interlude. I think its actually impossible to play all of it... They don't have enough instruments to multitrack the harmonies etc? I could be wrong.

They also played The Unforgiven in that concert, which was unexpected.

And the show beforehand, they played No Leaf Clover. Pity I can't get a recording of that :/

:smash:

Chu 11-24-2005 05:24 AM

Yeah that doesn't count.
In the recording of Jungleessence or whatever I have, Rob does play the interlude I believe, and as good as it is, it ain't the full thing :(

fatbandit 11-24-2005 05:30 AM

Yups, because after the interlude, I think they do some crazy harmonising... I'd like to hear how DT did it. That's the only MoP song I don't have a recording of them doing.

:smash:

Welcome to MX
Thanks.
After using this site and learning tabs for about one year, it was just a matter of time that i'd join you. :)
And yeah, i forgot to add my mail. The news of Metallica live records blew my mind. Anyway, here it is: icetongue@hotmail.com

I have 2 different recordings of DT doing Orion, and I would gladly send you either recording.

I have a Master of Puppets (Live) recording, which is 57:24, and 78mb.
Or just them playing Orion, with their little jizz at the end which is 10:57, and 15mb.

Just ask, I will gladly send, Orion is easily my favourite song, and any oppurtunity to find a recording of someone who plays it, I grab (Same as Fade To Black, really).

Sorry about that, that sucks. Nothing cool. If you want we got a bootleg of the show with the Rolling Stones.

I want Cliff 'Em All!!!

Oh, it looks like we already talked about the show. Anyways, it was very good. There are two videos on Metallica's website from the show.

I've got a DT doing Orion. It's pretty awesome

Yea, total bull to me. They play the interlude all the time live. They've got two guitars and a bassist, that's all the song has.

fatbandit 11-24-2005 09:32 AM

Yeah, Chu, sure, send away :)

dark____nation@hotmail.com (4 underscores)

Just the single song. I have the rest of the Barcelona MoP concert on mp3.

What's the other video on the website? I would go to it but my PC is acting up.

Chu that sucks man! nobody's hurt right?

How is Guitar?

Happy Thanksgiving

Jev 11-24-2005 11:00 AM

I don't celebrate thanksgiving. I'd go mental.
