to be honest a lot of more polished DM albums have "shit" production too when they're too compressed or done in a hurry and theres no room for the mix to breathe. combine tech death with production like that and things start sounding claustrophobic and your ears fatigue over the course of the record. look at the faceless for example. planetary duality was mixed ridiculously fast, like in a couple days or something, and it shows. there's no life to that mix and there's a lot of pumping, combine that with the fact that the drums are triggered to shit and I wouldn't call that good production
