yeah, but either one is cool with me:thumb:
ha... I like you Seafroggy's... but that's all bull****.

I met my first girlfriend in highschool and we've been together and happy ever since. Like Winston Churchill said "Love is a friendship set on fire" We were friend two years before we hooked up and then everything just fit. I think that's what doesn't usually happen in a young relationship though, it's more about 'Quick, find someone to hook up with, need experience and status', so time isnt really taken to really get to know whoever the prospective partner is. Obviously that's not always the case but I think mainly it is.

thats what happened with me and my current gf. met her on this allnighter, got with her, stayed in contact, found out we were really similar and got on...

Pleaseme 06-18-2006 07:55 AM

Cool, yeah there's always the chance that you'll get to know 'em well anyway, and that you get on well.
And what were you doing in that pic?? (apart from drinking)

I have indeed seen my share of horrible relationship choices... but Seafroggy's point isn't 100% true, and despite his hardships, a highschool relationship isn't pointless.

And indeed you are wrong. This is the stronghold.. and had you read about what the thread is, you'd know it was for open disscussion for any topic. As pretty much every topic has been discussed.

Your issue with religious topics, the Bible in particular, is very aparent, as this thread has not been about anything drumming related for some time.. like since it's start.

You should work a lil harder on that animosity.. it's just a 'touch' noticable.
It was a joke but thank you ever so mcuh for taking me seriously.
Last night my band played a small show, and the band right after us didn't even bring a drum set? Like wtf, he asked me if he could use my drums. I was like... uhhh ok I guess. He wasn't a hard hitter or anything, he seemed to be playing them respectfully, but who shows up without drums? And he didn't even haveto adjust anything, he just left it exactly as I had it. Which was good for me. Anyway, Not only that, but it's the second time I have come across a band that needed to use my sh!t. Have you people ever heard of this?
Yep. Heard about it alot. Usually when two bands play the same venue they only use one kit. Saves space for transportation, and time and hassle taking apart and setting up different sets.. Come to think of it..it's very common.. lol and when I have seen bands use different kits they are usually a good bit apart (not right after eachother) or a small opening act playing for a main stream recording artist..of course will use two diff. sets.. but for small venues and local bands, they usually double up on sets dude..get used to it..

that's weird. I've never seen that happen.
Even for short sets... 45 minutes to and hour, there's always (as far as i've seen) been a short break so bands can take their gear and the next band can set theirs up.

Tang. 06-18-2006 08:28 AM

Mostly around here for smaller venues with local bands there usually isn't a break.. but there usually is for more well known, respected bands. Also depends on what kind of show you're performing.. if its like a talent show, or something that an org. runs than most likely they are gonna want to be on a set schedule.. but if its just a concert than there usually will be a break..

I understand what ur saying (for the most part). But I couldn't belive that he waited to ask me right as we finished. I had no idea my set was needed, or that a band needed to use it. And I wanted to get them out of there right after we were done, but of course I couldn't be like "no". And totally ruin their set. So I let him use em no prob.

Corkofski 06-18-2006 08:42 AM

yea
i'd always ask at least a few days before...

Pleaseme 06-18-2006 08:44 AM

Would've been better if you at least had notice before the gig I guess.

Edit: ^^ pff fine, get there before me why don't you.

Corkofski 06-18-2006 08:45 AM

its cos im better than you

green242 06-18-2006 08:51 AM

It would have been nice to know yea. But I'm still a bit weary about people I don't know playin my set.

Tang. 06-18-2006 09:06 AM

Same here. I'd only let one other guy play on my set for a show, most drummers enjoy bringing their own stuff..but this time the place we were playing only wanted us to use one to save time setting up.. the idiot switched my pedals out, changed my tom heights, moved around my cymbals, than he half assedly put my pedal back on so it fell off during our set..

green242 06-18-2006 09:15 AM

Yeah, I was lucky, because the kid who used my set didn't move anything. He added a crash (which was on it's own stand), and that was it. I'm thinkin of sometime down the road of gettin a set just to use for shows and stuff, because it's so hard on my drums takin em down, and settin em up all the time. I'd like to have a cheaper older set that I cared less about. But I also could use a set of cases for my drums....
Tattoo's are for people deeplying searching for ways to make themselves unique in a egomanical conformist society but fail to see beyond the asthetics of the body.

That said, it's been the very rare occasion I've met someone with a truly meaningful tatoo. All of those were related to extreme dedication and bond through experience.
I dunno, I don't really think that's true. I don't know how anyone could trick themselves into thinking getting tattoo'd, something that millions, if not billions, of people have already done could make them unique. While every now and then someone gets a tattoo that is unique (which is certainly not the case with Phil or myself), it in no way shape or form makes them unique, and I don't think I've met anyone who really thinks it does.

But that doesn't really matter to me. I don't need it to be unique. What matters to me is that it's special to me and it's another way for me to celebrate the memory of someone I loved.

Sunshine 06-18-2006 09:29 AM

Tattoos are kind of silly. Not in a bad way, they just are.

And you have to put lotion/neosporin on them every couple of hours, they blister, they itch, they peel, you have to shower funny 'cause the hot water/soap will damage them...

Arg. Went to Roller Derby last night. SOOO BORING. There are only 3 teams in Tucson, and 1 of them sucks miserably [which is a shame, they're the coolest team], so whenever they're playing, there's really no point in watching 'cause you know who's going to win =/

I want to go to a Roller Derby match sometimes. Although I generally butt heads with rednecks, I still wanna go. There are a few teams here in Austin, and I think it's pretty big here. I know that show "Rollergirls" is shot here. I've watched it twice, and didn't recognize a single landmark or area of town they showed though.

ps. I would like to request you change your name. I'm a simple man, with a simple mind, and I often get you mixed up with my dear friend Pespi, and almost accidently say lude things to you.

You bought shoes through the mail? How'd that work out? I was thinking about doing that because I can't find the ones I want in any stores around me, but I'm nervous about not being able to try them on.

Tang. 06-18-2006 10:01 AM

my ex gf recently got a tatoo..

wow going through a break up really sucks.

green242 06-18-2006 10:11 AM

Tattoos, piercings, hair color, hair style, different clothes, hats, bracelets, rings, shoes....... All the same thing, style. If it feels good do it.

Janeway 06-18-2006 10:31 AM

We've been tattooing ourselves for ages. We have some pathetic primal need to diversify ourselves and wear things to make us 'pretty'. That's why we wear jewelry, pierce ourselves, style our hair, wear clothing that's shiny and tacky beyond all fuck.
It doesn't make us different from each other, it unifies us. It embraces a primordial aspect of being a human being.

And what the hell do I care if I regret my tattoo?
I'm going to die anyways.
=/

green242 06-18-2006 10:48 AM

Ok then, in ur theory, we're all identical. People enjoy things, weather it is drinking, playing music, listening to music, getting holes punched into their bodies, pictures etched into their skin. It's all for one thing, to make themselves happy. Cuz everything you do in life, I belive, is selfish. No matter what it is, it's for an image for your own.

Ming-a-Ling 06-18-2006 10:52 AM

I think you're all avoiding the really important issue here, and that is Pessi's name. It's just too similar to Pespi. While I realize Pespi is now known as "Cube", I still refer to her as Pespi, as do many of you. I don't know how many times I've almost typed something incredibly offensive in response to something Pessi has said thinking it was Pespi. I can't have this kind of confusion in my life.

Tang. 06-18-2006 11:06 AM

haha. Jeremy is right..it is quite confusing.

Theres alot of debate going on today in the strong hold geeze.

Janeway 06-18-2006 11:07 AM

And why does it make us happy? Because we're indulging in something we've had a need for since our creation. Every single human being on the face of the earth has this need.
If we didn't, why does jewelry exist? Why do we feel the need to spend $4,000 on a thin ribbon of gold with a big, fat, shiny diamond hanging on the end? It doesn't make sense at all when you think about it logically.
We could use $4,000 to pay for a years worth of food.
We like pretty things, and we like to be pretty.
Tattoos are the same theory, especially in modern times.

It doesn't make us identical. We aren't all doing the exact same thing.
But it does unify us, because it identifies an aspect that we all share as humans.

And I've kind of done that too.
I see her name and think it's someone whose hijacked my name, and I get all ready to flame the heck out of them, then I realize it's her.

Sunshine 06-18-2006 11:23 AM

Due to popular demand, I submitted me a name-change request.

I was going to just make a new account, but...eh. I already have this one.

So you may all rest easy.

green242 06-18-2006 11:25 AM

exactly... A $4000 bracelet, a good example of selfishness. But you made it sound as if you were saying no matter what we do, we're not an individual, just a slave of life

Janeway 06-18-2006 11:28 AM

Well, that's...good.

I'm still undetermined as to whether people want you to change their name because of my negative reputation, or smorgasborg of positive contributions to to MX. I choose the latter.

AND EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW!
My scalp got hella sunburned at Allentown last weekend, and it all peeled up today. My entire part, about six inches, was all one big mound of dead skin, but it still had my hair going through it. I had to pick out every single little bit of skin by hand, and now I've got chunks of skin on the back of my shirt and in some of my hair.
Eerg.

Edit: Well, we are all slaves to our instincts.
None of us really overcome any of that. In a sense, once every unimportant aspect of our lives is stripped out, we are all exactly the same. We are here to survive, and we all will do it by the same means.

What are you changing it too? It better not be Ming-a-Ding. I know it's a tough name to resist, but just call upon all of your willpower.

Ew. That's happened to me before. Its absolutely disgusting.

I've actually been thinking of it for awhile now. I've been asked if I was her, if I was copying her, and all that. But now I've actually gone through it.

Hahaha, don't flatter yourself. I'm just going from one nickname to the next.

"Sunshine."

It's kind of a joke that no one here understands.

Janeway 06-18-2006 11:38 AM

I hate Cube.

I don't even know why I picked it.

Sunshine 06-18-2006 11:38 AM

Pessi...well...is short for Pessimistic Optimist. Because, apparently, a lot of the statements I make are...pessimistically optimistic. Or Optimistically pessimistic. As observed by many o' my friends 'round the world.
