We should have our own CR listening parties!!!

Just the regulars though.

That might be fun. I'm such a noob that I probably don't have much that you guys haven't heard though.

That would be buckets of fun. We could avoid the whole process and just say "hey wanna listen to ____?" Sans polls, etc.

I really wish I had AIM :upset:

Broken Arrow 08-26-2005 06:08 PM

CR listening parties sound cool.

The A&I one that I went to didn't have the best music for a listening party(although I like Iron & Wine it just isn't the best for one of those thingys).

I think O&O is a great album.

I think Forever Changes from far away does look like a colourful Africa awsell, amazing album though.

Badmoon 08-26-2005 06:36 PM

I would want to do Billy Bragg and Wilco's Mermaid Avenue for a listening party. You guys would really like that album; they play Woody Guthrie written tunes. You could hardly tellthey were from Woody though.

Broken Arrow 08-26-2005 07:02 PM

My suggestion would be

Neil Young-Tonights the Night

Connecticut fucking blows.

I have my road test on Thursday, and I was driving around practicing parallel parking. In my town, there's no where to parallel park, so I go to a neighboring town, Portchester. Where I was practicing was on the border with CT though. I tried a certain spot, completely fucked it up, and my mom told me to told me to pull out and try the same spot again. I told her that if I tried to pull out so I'd be close and parallel to the parked car, I'd scratch it. But she said I was fine. Sure enough, I pull out, and I scratched the parked car. My mom told me drive away, and I did. About a minute later, this huge guy with 5,000 tatoos, a pierced lip and eyebrows, honks at me, pulls up next to me and starts yelling that I scratched his friends new car. The guy was pretty intimidating, he looked exactly like Curt Schilling except a lot lighter and had piercings and tatoos. Once we go back, the owner of the car calls the police. It turns out that the owner of the car worked in the tatoo parlor that we were right in front of. Immediately like 10 6-5 300 pound guys file out of the parlor and surround us. I was fucking scared. Anyway, NY state has some no fault clause in the insurance which means I wouldn't have to pay a fine. But CT doesn't, so I have to pay a $93 fine. I was like 10 feet into CT. It blows. I also got in trouble for "leaving the scene of the crime" We drove away because we didn't think we did any damage, and we were going like 15 mph looking for more parking spots. The guy tried to persuade the police officer that it was like a hit-and-run. It would have been kind of funny if I wasn't so fucking pissed off.

/really long useless rant

/Tonights the Night would be good. Or maybe we could do something by The Band.

/is obsessed with The Band right now.

Broken Arrow 08-26-2005 07:24 PM

That sucks.

That's all I got.

Hahahaha... in front of a tatoo parlor!? Hahahahaha
After driving through Torrington this morning I am also convinced that Connecticut blows. License test on the 8th of Sept.

Badmoon mentioned Wilco; I have heard alot of good things about this band, are any of them true?

jpj 08-26-2005 07:34 PM

I got my permit in the end of June and I've only actually driven on a real road twice. I'm probably gonna wreck the Driver's Ed. car.

I have AM by Wilco and it is very good.

Well, I don't know what you've heard, but I like a lot of their stuff. And I really like the band they came out of (Uncle Tupelo).

They're really good on the album I mentioned, with Billy Bragg.

Badmoon 08-26-2005 07:37 PM
I have AM by Wilco and it is very good.
Most hate that album. I believe it's pretty good overall, except "That's not the Issue" which is an awesome song.

robo2448 08-26-2005 07:44 PM

I downloaded Yankee Foxtrot Hotel. I haven't listened to it all the way through, but I listened to the first 8 or so songs. It was ok. Maybe I'll give them another chance.

I don't care for Yankee Foxtrot, Being There or any of their albums similar to those. I like their early Country Rock stuff (cleaner Uncle Tupelo) an their more current stuff.

Maybe I'll try some of their early stuff. Yankee Foxtrot wasn't bad, but it's not anything I ever really want to listen to again.

Hate? Hate's a pretty strong word, I don't see how anyone could hate that album.

Seafroggys 08-26-2005 10:11 PM

Hate is a strong word.

But you can't hate my spiffy new avatar, eh?

Badmoon 08-26-2005 10:12 PM

I've seen it before, and I hate it.

BludgeonySteve 08-26-2005 10:13 PM

The word hate is so misused by today's youth. But if Badmoon says something, he usually means it and isn't just using because he's too lazy to type an opinion that's more then 4 letters.

edit: see...

Broken Arrow 08-26-2005 10:44 PM

Yay the Neil Young thread got bumped.

I put a link to a really cool bootleg in there too, check it out!
Everything with Keif Moon in it is good.
Wasn't he in that group that put out that crappy album with "Teenage Wasteland" on it? That song sucks along with the album. Moon wasn't even that good of a guitarist.

:p

The Who aren't popular at all in Texas apparrently they're bigger with the northern states. I don't know anyone that listins to them out of about 20 fans of Classic Rock and they never get played on the radio. You guys make them up to be as big as the Doors or Jimi Hendrix but I have yet to see the number of fans to back that claim.

I lost The Who Sell Out.......:upset:

Is The Who sing my Generation any good?

Edit: Are we still making that "Open Your Mind to Other Music other than Metal" thread?

Lunch 08-27-2005 07:24 AM
All music besides PATGOD sucks.
Yea, I can edit quotes too :p

The Who Sings My Generation is good, you probably wouldn't like it though.
