I keep mobile phones for the use of recording. I've got 7 or 8 now, even though they don't get used as phones. Because the drivers are tiny, but designed to block out pink noise, they work well in replicating SDCs. If you want a "room sound", put one in a pringles tube while recording using real mics and submix it over. Adds a nice dynamic, especially for drums.

uh I just used my phone because I broke the only mic I had and couldn't really afford anything else

We've got some new stuff we're working on which we'll probably record a lot better. I'm hoping to get a digital mixer/recorder which will allow us to do a lot of things easier. Substance abuse made it difficult too.

The best way to record if you're drunk is to put a mic on a stand in the middle of a room, and then surround it with amps and the drumset and just record live.

Then just do scratch recordings and move the amps/drums until the levels sound right.

hahaha. I mean, we had great motivation to begin with, but it dwindled as four feet of snow fell and we became trapped in a fury of drinking, smoking, rolling, and tripping!

Hahaha, recording while tripping usually ends with weird results.

it could have ended with not recognizing that the mic input was not turned off the entire time
