yeah McCain had no chance from the get-go
Honestly I was suprised at how many people I knew were voting for him. Of course they were mostly the generic Christian vote.

Angmar 11-05-2008 08:35 AM

Obama got even more electoral points than I expected, he over doubled McCain, which is awesome.

masscows 11-05-2008 08:36 AM

I only know like 3-4 people in my age range who voted for him

him being McCain ofc

I was discussing his with my wife: Why don't they just add up the popular vote and then have that person win? If that was the case Bush would never have been elected or re-elected. It's just odd to me.

repcak 11-05-2008 08:39 AM

American electoral system is indeed very very weird, but you won't change it. Its written in the constitution and its hard to change it. I think, you have to deal with it.

btw. Dan, sup with the interview?

Angmar 11-05-2008 08:40 AM

The last Bush election was an odd one, the whole electoral college thing is something that dates back to the early roots of the country, didn't use to be decided upon the people of the states votes at all though.

Sorry to put it off for so long dude. I honestly have no idea when we are getting together again. I've always been the one to call everybody to find out when we are practicing but I'm sick of it so I'm just gonna sit around and wait for a phone call. When I get one I'll have us do the interview. Sorry again dude!

I just think its retarded that the person with the most votes doesn't always win. This election in particular was actually quite close when it comes to overall votes. Only a few million difference last time I checked. I'll go check again.

Ok CNN said: Obama snared about 62.5 million votes to McCain's 55.5 million, according to totals early Wednesday.

That's not really the landslide that the electoral college makes it out to be.

Well, I have the written Constitution of the USA in my room... but I am too lazy to check it out.

Dimmu Burger 11-05-2008 08:50 AM

lol some girl on facebook just said that we're better off moving to North Korea than living here. F*cking retard.

Jev 11-05-2008 08:53 AM

Are they all saying that because he's black?

Dimmu Burger 11-05-2008 08:55 AM

I think they are saying that because they think he's a terrorist/communist/radical/not-Christian. Retards.

Lol muslims ruining your country.

Also you wouldn't ****ing believe the amount of coverage the US election has been getting over here.

I believe a lot of you would be genuinely surprised.

my dad thinks this stuff is true too

seriously I love the guy but how stupid can you be?

ATM 11-05-2008 10:22 AM

Why does your dad think that?

masscows 11-05-2008 10:23 AM

because he watches fox news uncritically

pate 11-05-2008 11:25 AM

No. The electoral college system works. It's a happy medium between popular vote and one vote per state.

If it was all popular vote, and a candidate won ALL OF New York and California, they would have a HUGE advantage. The way it is now, it's spread out more. So that even the smallest states have some importance. If it was popular vote, it wouldn't matter.

the2stranger 11-05-2008 11:38 AM

Meh elections.
I'm glsd they're over.
Herein the Netherlands you culdn't turn on your tv without hearing something about elections in the US.
Come on.

Im glad it's over and I think the people voted senisbly(?) with going for Obama.

Sup peoplez?

repcak 11-05-2008 11:42 AM

The US elections played a major role in Austria, than the Austrian election did one month ago.

I'm fine Peter;
Got 6 free tickets for a small concert this friday - its going to be great!
sup?

the2stranger 11-05-2008 11:51 AM

Hey Kacper!
Nice, free tickets are always cool.
Who are you taking?

I'm doing fine, thank you.
Started in uni again, after autumn break.
All is pretty chillaxed now.
My lady was supposed to come over, but can't come.
So a free night for me, but she'll be with me tomorrow, till monday, so it's stil cool.

I went to do Tai Chi yesterday, a cool experience.
Looks like my kind of thing.

ATM 11-05-2008 12:23 PM

For a metalhead, you do some surprising activities Petey :P

the2stranger 11-05-2008 12:32 PM

I know, I'm metal as ****.
But I also enjoy my zen. ;)

It's cool to relax and return down to earth if you know what I mean.

ATM 11-05-2008 12:34 PM

No it's cool really. Just funny imagining you doing things like ballroom dancing :D

the2stranger 11-05-2008 12:39 PM

Yeah.
I must admit, that's rather unusual.
But it's pretty cool too.

>_>

<_<

haha.

Yeah, I never gave much thought about being this and having to act the same way.
I just do what I like. :p

Sup?
Btw: Some new bands have been announced for Roadburn, including Om.
:D

repcak 11-05-2008 12:42 PM

Who I am taking with me?
Myself, my gf, her best friend + boyfriend, her best friend friend... one ticket left; I asked a friend, but he doesn't know and cause I don't have a lot of metalheads as friends, my gf cousin will get it if he doesn't join us ...
somehow: lol
At least I am really looking forward to this, cause I still see her hardly and its going to be 2weeks once again. The good thing is that she quit her job today and in 3 weeks she is going to work 15h a week, so she will propably have more time :)

ATM 11-05-2008 12:42 PM

I saw that!

I would love to see OM again. Have you watched the videos with the new drummer?

Txus 11-05-2008 12:44 PM

New drummer rules.

Nope, notseen anything by them with the new drummer.
Too bad they canceledlast year, because the old drummer had just quit a few weeks before Roadburn.
So I'll have my chance this year. :D

I'm going to do some reading now.
Later guys.

ATM 11-05-2008 01:05 PM

thats somewhat depressing you don't even know the importance of the electoral college, yet you think that you know whats best for the country overall.

botb 11-05-2008 01:07 PM

i mean i agree that the popular vote should probably decide tbh

McP3000 11-05-2008 01:07 PM

so you agree that NYC and LA and Chicago should decide who wins the election every year?

thats dumb

pate 11-05-2008 01:07 PM

No. The popular vote decides each state. That's enough.

Chicago decides for all of Illinois. You want them deciding for the whole country?

botb 11-05-2008 01:09 PM
so you agree that NYC and LA and Chicago should decide who wins the election every year?

not at all. haha. people are branched out enough around the country to weigh out huge cities like that.

pate 11-05-2008 01:10 PM

I think each state should get on electoral vote, winner has to get 26. What do you think of that?

The current system is a balance between that and popular vote.

McP3000 11-05-2008 01:10 PM
not at all. haha. people are branched out enough around the country to weigh out huge cities like that.
