Black metal is good for Halloween.
|
i really like the first song on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... but i just dont see the appeal in any of the others
|
Sonic Youth- Halloween
A couple of users on here have said that it's the band's best song. I don't know about that, but there's something really special about it. Feels more like a spoken word piece by Kim with some clunky guitar and drums; I guess it fits with the mood of Bad Moon Rising (not to mention the cover art) so it deserves being checked out. |
Calexico - The Black Light
|
i got this really in-depth scholarly article called "left of the dial: an introduction to underground rock, 1980-2000" its a little more thorough than azerrad's book and covers way more bands :)

you must have skipped rainy dayz. |
OB4CL was a hard album for me to get into at first. I was especially frustrated that I couldn't tell the difference between Ghostface and Raekwon. It's been a true grower.
|
I have a lyrics plugin for winamp which tells me, so I've never had that problem. The only thing I really found difficult was the length of it. It doesn't bother as much these days but still, a few of those songs in the second half of the album are unnecessary.
in general though, 1 hr + rap albums? no thanks. |
i think the production sucks

Swell Maps - A Trip to Marineville
I think this is as good as Jane from Occupied Europe but I haven't listened to it enough to make a real judgement |
Toby Driver - In the L...L...Library Loft
Philip Glass - Glassworks Tartar Lamb - Sixty Metonymies Digging modern classical type stuff I guess. Someone recommend me some more music like this. |
Toby Driver - In the L...L...Library Loft
Philip Glass - Glassworks Tartar Lamb - Sixty Metonymies
Try Krzysztof Penderecki. St. Lukes Passion is a masterpiece in atonal work. Giacinto Scelsi is more classic and more beautiful. You already know Arvo Pärt right? György Ligeti is a must-have too. |
