I don't really want Coda.
I am counting on finding it on vinyl at someone's garage sale eventually Speaking of, way to abandon the LZ thread :upset: |
I never see old albums at garage sales. It dissapoints me.:upset:
I'm glad to see that you guys like In My Time of Dying though. THey other LZ song that I find is really underrated (I have only heard once or twice) is the lemon song. For me that's a true blues rock masterpiece. THe band seems to really mesh well on that song. |

The bass part is one of the main reasons I like it too. I'm saying that as a bassist as well.
|
I hope JPJ doesn't see this. He doesn't need anymore fuel for his fire.
|
this is true, saying this as a drummer, guitarist, and car singer. there are rumors that it was actually page though.
i agree with med too. im wide awake, its morning isnt that bad. |
They should make this the official classic rock thread.
|
They should make this the official classic rock thread.
It's pretty much implied, because they are no other threads on Classic Rock. This is our own community, basically. |
its listed as one anyway in sonorken's rules thread.
|
THere isn't really any need for more ***Official*** threads. Every body just posts like it is the official one. If you see a thread about a certain band, you'll probably post in there. Nobody floods the forums with same-topik'd threads.

Yea, R&M VIP room  |

My dad got tickets to that Buddy Guy show yesterday. I'm excited, but I don't think I'm going to the same show as you, because Allman Bros. weren't listed with him. But still, I'm going to see Buddy Guy :D :D :D :D :D |

For the smart kids only, too. |

So who'd everyone vote for?
|
I couldn't decide if Gilmour was going to do very well or if he was going to need my help. I voted for him, though.
|
Frank Zappa
|

Seriously, I hear he puts on a hell of a live show. Like, one of the best ever. I'm so happy, he's a big influence to me. I voted for Zappa. |
I haven't voted yet. I have a feeling this could be a close one.
|
^ I probably should have waited. I probably would have ended up voting for Iommi any way. Do only two advance?
|

He wouldn't disappoint, I can guarantee that. This makes two shows I'm going to so far: Tom Petty/Black Crowes, and Buddy Guy. |
im also going to see the mars volta on the 15th. the day after my band plays an all night party. my heads going to be killing me on that monday. haha.
im the only one here who voted for hendrix. not only is he one of my favorites, i think he deserves this because, as i stated in the other poll, i take greatest to mean technical talent, innovation, influence on the guitar world, and others. while zappa may beat him on those, i still think hendrix should get this round. i am a fanboy. |

I'm sick of hearing the "there are better guitarists now" statment. |
Sorry about being off the current topic, but i just saw the rolling stones at the imax theater, and after watching that show, i think Ron Wood is a VERY underrated guitarist. Probably overshadowed by Richards because he was an original band member, but i think he's just as good!
I'd take it purely on emotional attachment, my favourite guitarists are the ones who move me most. Hendrix is high up there in that regard, though I tend to prefer his songs to his solo guitar work. I don't care about tehnical ability, influence, innovation or any of that stuff. Jeff Buckley tops my list though :)
Yeah thats exactly how I feel, Eddie Van Halen can tap that fret board all he wants, and Hammett can shread all he wants, but when Hendrix plays I can feel it, and I can see his soul. The reason why his cover of the Star Spangled Banner is so well known is not because its hard, but because of all the emotion he poured into it. He expressed more about war when he was playing the "rockets red glare" part more then anything exept actually fighting in one ever could. When he played it was so much more then music, it was an interpretable peice of art. |

as he should top everybodys list. haha. |
I voted for Carlos Santana, as I have been into Santana lately.
|
I voted Gilmour, such emotional playing.
Comfortably Numb = guitar solo perfection WYWH, particularly Shine On- way the guitar "speaks" is just phenomonal. I also think Wood's underrated. It hurts him that shortly after he came the rest of the band started to decline. Who's everyone's favorite Stones guitarist, Richards, Jones, Taylor, or Wood? Taylor for me. |
taylor.
